Philip, I'm exactly the same way when it comes to heights. The whole reason behind that little bit of fear is to keep you sharp so you don't accidentally let yourself die. I'd be more worried about someone who isn't at least a little bit afraid, because those types of the people are the ones who cause accidents.

Philip! You should come down here to Devon and try hiking Dartmoor, it's a beautiful national park just like the Lake District, full of ancient monuments that have remained where they were built many hundred years ago!
There aren't really any mountains, mostly just very tall hills, but you can find some very pretty things there, such as the abandoned quarry which is now a lake --- it even has its own waterfall now!

Kliks, I totally get the feeling of tires about come off of the pavement and the car rolling backwards. When I was in the western slope driving around, I felt that my FJ cruiser was about to roll at anytime. I have an inclinometer on the dash that was alerting me of incline danger for a lifted vehicle like mine. Good thing FJs have serious suspension travel, and are a heavy vehicle. If I wasn't in that type of truck I would have definitely rolled.

These videos are so boring... yet somehow really imteresting, you are childish, but at the same time deeper than a philosopher.
You remember, when you were a kid, and you were just introduced to a world that is about to change, and change extremely rapidly? The new space age, the iss, all the new researches, computers and stuff... and those informative books, with THAT one color scheme. Like it was made a hundred years ago, but also just yesterday, telling about the world to a young child. How our world is about to change. Like a cartoon, with an iconic background, i don't even know how could i describe it. Nostalgia is an understatement for what i feel when i look back to those days. Especially those books. I will be honest with you. I only cried twice in my adult life. Once, when my mother passed away, and once, when i found one of those books. Just impossible to describe the feeling.
Your videos, especially this one, for some gond knows why reason, remids me of those days. Not the days, actucally, rather the feeling.
Maybe it's the music, maybe your voice? I have no clue, but it just hits right there. I wish i was native englis, so i could describe it correctly, if it is even possible, but i am more than sure someone out there, maybe even you, Phil, understands this.

Damn, reminds me of when me and my friends spontaneously decided to climb Ben Lomond on a school trip to Scotland.
Just 5 of us and it had rained, so that everything was covered in slippery mud.
It was also pitch dark by the time we climbed back down, which was terrifying at times.
We barely saw anything, we slipped multiple times because of the at times completely liquid mud and we probably could have died or at least broken multiple bones considering there were 60+ meter drops less than a meter next to us and they were filled with rocks.
It was still enjoyable though ^^

the fact that england's mountains have no trees makes such big difference, here in america you climb through tons of trees until you either find a gap to look out of or get above the tree line, never climbed a nearly totally bald mountain, but it seems like it makes a big difference in the "feel" of the hike. it also probably bakes you, no shade sounds like a pain in the butt lol.

You chose better this time around, Heading up Scafell Pike from Wastwater is better too, getting the view over Wastwater at the start makes the drive worth it.
