Everything she does has impact ,relevance to seemingly the entire history of all music worth thinking about or remembering whether it be pop or the serious music traditions and takes in all notions that I know of concerning now, contemporaneity and best of all is fun without the inaccessibility of so much good music that you can't listen to without rereading a great deal of theory and cultural essays. It's genuine and speaks to all of us because it is for all . of us !

Great album! A door into the dark & A song for Arthur Russel are among my favorites. Listening to the original album is a real treat ^^

I thought I was going to kick back and fall asleep to this album, but it's so haunting and punctuated and thought-provoking. Well played.

Hope some of the new collaboration with glasser will make its way online. saw them last night for Mother's Day, impeccable talent all around... The vespers are dark and ultra trippy. Melissa Hughes has an amazing voice.

I know it's probably completely unintentional but I'm getting really frustrated at the amount of times I've seen this music referred to as 'pretty' or 'lovely' on forums or comments.
It is both those things, but it's also breathtaking, intricate, technically brilliant and just generally awesome! Let's hear some more of that too!
(this is no way a personal attack @rhymes with gabriel)

    Is this atonal?

      Dan Tavano
No. In atonal music, you cannot find a central “home pitch.” This music, while very chromatic, is tonal. For the most part, the harmonies proceed in a relatively traditional way.
