I liked this guy way more than I thought I would. You store your boxes the same way I do. I was one of those who complained about him before having him in hand, but once I got him I was impressed. Very G1, which is always a plus to me.
I have literally been after a design like this since 1985. It is so "G1" looking, and not a brick. I missed out on the G1 toy, but I'm paying off this one in my local shop. I cannot wait to have it in hand.
Those missile pods are awesome! Only downside is the cockpit is more visible (sticks out more than the original) and there’s no detail on the tank treads anymore sadly.
dude, finally someone who gets it. blitzwing should always have hints to a jet mode in the tank mode and the other way around. otherwise it would be just a jet and a tank. blitzy needs to have these chunky altmodes. i love figure so much. if only the energon fists were easier to hold.
Cool! I found one today also. Well actually, I guess you didn't find yours today. The video apparently has a time jump but anyway it looks as good as it can with three modes. You're right about the robot mode being solid! Great review! Thanks for your time!
Great review. I am still on the fence with this guy, I really like the TR version of this character, and it is nice that in tank mode the TR version actually transforms into the tank with the trusters in front as it is supposed to be since the Diaclone days. That said, he does look great in robot mode no doubts there.
Great Review... Tank mode looks very cartoon accurate, like that or not. LOL! I just think of the Cockpit as a battering ram. Blitzwing turns his turret backwards, fires up the jet engines, and crashes through walls. Not a perfect way to look at it, but I think that works... Aerodynamically his Jet Mode has some issues with all that kibble. Interestingly though, some planes have been built with Tank Treads for landing gear. It's too bad his treads are not pointing downward. That would have been better. Maybe they are retracted for flight?
Since you like this figure I have another version you might like just as much, it’s the Mechanic studios MS-28 Thunderbolt there take on Blitzwing in the legends scale and it’s really cool , especially the transformation which is really fun to do between alt-modes. I got mine on Big Bad Toy Store
Blitzwing is pretty neat from what I can see. The only real thing I am sort of irked about is his big red megazord hands. Past that? Great figure. Sweet review. Keep up the awesome. :)
great review as always, bert! first i thought i´d skip on him cause i have the tr and the legends one. but then i got him and i really like him. tr still has a better jet mode. but overall he is amazing. in hand the jet mode don´t bother me that much actually. although i think he would have turned out even better if he were in the ss86 line which i initially thought he would be.
Titans return blitzwing was pretty good too. & I got Original Blitzwing for xmas back in 85. Then I got Astrotrain a year late. So far we had animated blitzwing, Thrilling 30, Titans return. Now legacy.Octane is next I am sure. Since they did springer Hopefully get a good sandstorm sometime soon.nShould have recycled that box in the recycle can. What we do here. I just toss it in once done.I know they just got the blitzwing trademark back in 2008.I was realy surprise to see astrotrain int he first wave of classics back in 2006. one of the first to get it. The only thing about the original compared to this one is the original had kind of a bi plane look to its kibble but this one just has the tank there luckily there is an easy way to fix it and the rest of the figure is good enough to me it doesn't even really matter
If you're going to defend the crappy kibble especially while in jet mode to being relative to the G1 toy then for all that this should've been a "parts former" just like the G1 Tank's turret was. I don't care about figures being parts formers if it means that the alt-modes will have better quality as a result and for $55 before taxes and almost $60 afterwards at Walmart, this figure should've been WAY BETTER overall. The bot mode being the only thing worthwhile. As for the tank, all they had to do was give the front part a beige piece that overlapped most of the cockpit instead of 3P charging another $15-$20 to do it. For me this figure is a 6/10. Only purchased it because I only paid half courtesy of what remained of a gift card.

The G1 version's tank-half seems more integrated into the jet mode (apart from the turret) than the new version
