Thank you for this enlightening conversation. Our daughter and granddaughter visited a college counselor recently to discuss our granddaughter's class schedule. The counselor said that many professors in her college report that the students today do not seem to connect to others in the class. The professors often enter the classroom to complete silence. Although they appreciate the students' attention during their lectures, they are surprised that students aren't involved in conversations with their piers before the class starts. I read about this in other places--COVID may have helped that along, but the main culprit is they youth are not used to connecting face to face--only through social media. Awareness to the issue is critical, so I appreciate you both getting the word out.
