First comment on your channel. I started watching your episodes about a month ago and I was 2 years behind lol. I’ve binge watched here and there and now I’m current. I love it. Hugo, great attitude for sailing and life in general. Great channel!
Taking the forecast down by hand, rolling back the years. I remember trying to do a similar thing for the UK shipping forecast, I seem to think you had a special sheet so you just filled in the key words. Of course we you did this offshore there would be a ferry and it's radar would interfere with the radio signal. Like the English Channel being foggy the ferry would be a Brittany ferry ☺
You looked absolutely knackered. Must have been so frustrating with so little wind and then the cringe of the genoa breaking. Then a wrong direction at the end. Shit happens, there's always next time.
Marc
I just watched a 5 min advert on riva boats, 3 mins was credits. I hope you get paid well for the advert. Unfortunately many sailing channels only ever thank their patreons for support. Iam an affiliate marketer and know that many small streams make bigger income. Viewers who watch adverts and fill tip jars all go to help. Nice video BTW.
So true, now disable your Adblock, press F5. When Video ends, reactivate your Adblock :) . I press F5 now for 15 minutes, just when the advertise ends. Let´s help Hugo .
Thanks for the videos - really enjoyable to watch and bringing back many memories of my days racing dinghys in my youth! Nice to get an insight into the tactics and your thoughts as you proceed. Bummer about the equipment failure - hope you get it fixed and do well in the next leg!
It is just great to see you sailing. I always say F*** , I should also get into the habit of cest la vie ;D . You are the winner in life for me, that's what counts. it was just a little sailing adventure ^^. All the best and may the winds protect you
Congratulations for your double Podium at Douarnenez ! Le suspens a été total ! (merci de me faire coucher à pas d'heure pour suivre le tracking en direct :) ) I think each of the 106k subscribers can give 1€ :) Hue Go GO !
Thanks Hugo, is fatigue a factor that could throw off a decision in the last 100 miles, or just a missed front, too bad about the cringle, c’est la vie
Hugo i see you can have HF reception, if you have a proper antenna with minimum hardware you can decode the DWD weather RTTY weather data and receive weather faxes. Its not simple maibe too much work, maybe it can give you a bit of an edge on the tactics. Its just reception so it should not go against the rules, unless you are also not allowed computers/tablets on board. Fair winds! Bruno
Another great episode and ...you've done so much better recently, congrat's Hugo ! Regarding your SSB radio set ("BLU"), if you're looking for advice / improvement, I know a guy in La Rochelle who is a well known wizard in amateur radio (and a telecom engineer for a living). Just let me know if you're interested.
That really is bare bones racing. I hadn't realised how little they actually allow you to work with. I guess that is all part of the challenge. Do you have collapsible bow sprit on that boat?
It is not collapsable as sliding inside a tube, it is "rotatable", if this is even a word. You can see it swung all the way aft and attached to the lifelines on port side at 4:09 in the video above.
Yeah as Laurent said, the bowsprit rotates from one side to the other, this allow you to put it await when not in use and then to adjust the angle when in use
Great vid, hey I have a question for you, you know those racing cats with hydrofoils & a very tall main sail that is like 3m wide straight all the way up to 15m high, they look like a rectangle sail. Do you know if those sails are flexible or stiff solid sails?
i didnt know, but from now on, i will think of you as captain picard. good video once more =) looking forward for the next
Ever the pragmatist. You did well, even under the storm jib.
Very unfortunate event, but I love the attitude "Cest la vie". I have even started to say it myself and I don't know a lick of French!
Great videos👍🇳🇴 fair winds

I've been following you since the beginning, pretty much. The current racing storyline" is definitely my favourite chapter.
Mon petit doigt me dit qu'une première place arrivera bientôt...😁😁

Nice video Hugo, congratulations! Wish you the best!
You may not have won this leg, but I’d wager you made the best video of it! As always, fabulous! Warm winds!

Enjoyable. Did a day sail out of Morlaix many years ago. Had to go out of locks to get to the sea as I recall.
You're doing great Hugo, always putting yourself in contention. Love the attitude.
Good to see you're doing well looks like some light air there. Have fun enjoy your race, enjoy your day. God bless you and be safe.
Very good video thanks to share whit us the race from inside, nices images, goos music ! Congrats Hugo!!

I would rather give Hugo so cash directly.
Martin Roberts yup Patreon would be my preference
Thank you Hugo, great video
Thanks for the videos - really enjoyable to watch and bringing back many memories of my days racing dinghys in my youth! Nice to get an insight into the tactics and your thoughts as you proceed.

Yep, jib was fixed and here is for leg 3 : th-cam.com/video/P1w_ur5iQ64/w-d-xo.html
I've just realised your boat tag lol. A Kir is ALWAYS with cassis!
looking great Hugo. Don't know how you manage to upload so much to your channel and race solo at same time. Keep up the good work .
Congratulations on the win in your last race!
Sometime I don't know how to call this channel. In Poland we call it La Manche, but with this fog it is definitely English Channel. Cheers!
We call it La Manche in french too :)

Well done monsieur
Adversity has the effect of eliciting talents, which in prosperous circumstances would have lain dormant.

i get see a sailing frenchman video, i press like. I am a simple man
Bonne chance! Hopefully the next legs will be more forgiving.
To some extend :) th-cam.com/video/P1w_ur5iQ64/w-d-xo.html

In that case I don't think it was fatigue, but I chose an option that didn't pay off
Ciao Hugo...Salut. Now...get some socks, a pair of sailboots, and a few pairs of warm gloves. You're going to hurt yourself wearing crocs!!
Crocs are the "Nikes" on a Sailing Boat ;) .
Yeah .... until you trip and fall over the side !!
Give Them a try, you will not regret it.
Haha, crocs are actually really comfortable onboard and surprisingly adapted. But now it's too cold anyway and I'm with sailboots all the time :)
Encore une super vidéo de voile !!

yeah exactly, no computer, tablet, phone...etc allowed onboard when racing

@@laurentcoquilleau3402 thanks. I'd noticed it was in a different position.

9:56. Best
Some info on the Wolf Rock lighthouse: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wolf_Rock_Lighthouse
Such is that’s sailing!
In the old days you were best to record the forecast on a cassette.
True, I also record it sometimes with my camera so I can listen to the audio again
Cool
I give you 10 points , Going to windward with that bow ?
It's not that bad, look for yourself: th-cam.com/video/P1w_ur5iQ64/w-d-xo.html
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
"Cest la vie"
What sails do you have aboard?
👍👍
nothing between genoa and storm jib? :(
Well yes, genoa with one reef is in between full genoa and storm jib, but the reef broke...
Hey, what are the solar panels held on by? Thanks
Windsurf flexible mast mount
I didn't get a notification :(
Have you clicked on the small bell next to the subscribe button?
@@TheSailingFrenchman yeah I clicked the bell but it just didn't give me a notification

Yeah, those are the old AC catamarans or the Sail GP boats. The wing isn't flexible, it's a hard profile
@@TheSailingFrenchman Cool thanks.
BTW I cannot believe you don't like rain. What is wrong with you? :-)
