Hi Chris, I typically use my shotgun mic Rode video mic Pro for motocross vlogs where I'm either filming bikes or a subject talking in front of the camera, my problem is when I try and interact by talking back to the subject from behind the camera the shotgun mic obviously doesn't pick up my voice, so I was thinking your method if I had a shotgun mic for subjects talking to the camera and a rode wireless mic as well on me for when I talk back to them, would you say this is best option or could you recommend something better please.

This mens you have 3 mics total. I would either use two cameras to record at the same time or I would have the Wireless Go 2 mix to one mono signal and then put that on one channel and the boom mic on the other channel. However, then you loose access to the individual wireless mics. Unless you use the RAW recordings which are done on the transmitters anyways 👍.

Hi @@EpicureanEric , you are describing that you have 3 microphones. However, your camera can only record a left and a right channel. That means that by definition you will not be able to record all 3 microphones into separate tracks. However, since you are using the Wireless Go 2, you also have the local recordings on the transmitters which you can download when connecting the Wireless Go 2 Transmitter via USB-C to a computer. I would setup the Wirelss Go 2 Receiver into Merged mode, then use the SC11 to connect the Wireless Go 2 and the Boom Mic to the camera. The camera audio will then have: Track 1: Boom Mic Track 2: the two lavs mixed together And in premiere pro you can then: separate the two channels into separate tracks. And additonally sync the audio from the Transmitters. That way you will end up with 3 tracks (one for the boom, one for each lav).
Is it possible to record 3? For example deity d4 mini allows other inputs. If you pair rode wirelless go ii with 2 receivers to the deity, how is it going to be recorded on camera?
It’s going to record the deity on one track and both the Røde transmitters on one track. But you could then use the recording which is done on the Røde Wireless Go II Transmitters by downloading them and syncing them in post.

I've got another question-- In a previous recording, I shot a video using Rode Wireless Go 2 with two lavs. I never pulled the audio stored from the individuals mics into my computer and have since deleted the RAW audio files. I only have the saved recorded video files from my SD card. When I replay the video as it is, it picks up both mics, however, mic 1 comes from left speaker, and mic 2 comes out of the left speaker. In adobe Premier pro, it is left as Stereo, Number of Audio Clips: 1. Per your video, I then changed the audio setting to Mono, and 2 tracks. When I pull the same video clip onto the timeline I only have V1, and A1 (the two mics are playing under a merged audio on A1). I don't have 2 audio tracks, and one of the mic sounds muffled while the other one sounds fine. Where did I go wrong, or how can I fix it so that I end up getting two audio tracks OR not sounding muffled one of the mics? Thank you.
In this case it is important to make sure you do the audio mapping correctly, selecting mono in the drop down and mapping them. Then moving them into the timeline again so that can update. You should end up with two separate mono tracks that way.
4:19 when I do this i still see sound coming out from both channels. In premier pro i can hear sound in the left channel a little too. Why is this? I am using M6 markii and the same Rode mic and splitter. Thanks!!
Can I connect 1 microphone by hot shoe and second by mini-jack? Splitter won't work because microphones are stereo and I want record 4 channels on Sony FX30 is it possible?
Not sure about Sony FX30 since I don't use it… but if it has the electronic hot shoe adapter stuff going on you may be able to pick up that XLR adapter thing for the top and possibly it does support 4 channel.

i bought one of the mic splitters by Hosa and it just doesnt work, any clue what could be going wrong? the individual mics work, is the wire defective?
Sounds like a question best asked to the makers of the cable splitter which you purchased. One thought: are you connecting the mics to a phone or to a camera? If it's a phone, it may have something to do with TRRS vs TRS (3 metal rings vs 4 metal rings on the mini Jack connector).
If you are ok with the signals being mono for the two Wireless Go 2 units. You'll have the recordings on the transmitters. But the camera only has 2 channels and thus you'll end up having the left channel with the mics from the first Wireless go 2 unit and the right channel will have the other two microphones.
Yes, that’s also a possibility. But while editing, I find it super useless to have the same channel show up twice when there is no real benefit to having both waveforms visible since they are identical anyways. Or is there a benefit to fill left/right channels?
This is something you can only figure out yourself by trying out all kinds of different setups. For example, it could have an effect if you power the camera via a dummy battery or with a normal battery. The VideoMicro is also prone to these interferences which is a known issue and can't really be fixed. The new Røde VideoMic Go II should not have those issues any more (since it has shielding) but I have not tested that.
@@ChrisSpiegl I think I may have found a solution. I think the sc11 is too short. I believe if I extend the cable distance between the wireless mic and the micro it may fix it. Update coming.

If your laptop has a dedicated mic port this may be possible. However, if you have a combined mic/headphone jack (aka a TRRS port) then it is most likely not possible because then the mic is only a mono channel.

That may be because the cable is not shielded or the audio signal is so "loud aka strong" that it bleeds into the other side of the cable.
