I loved Edinburgh Castle. My sister and I were waiting in line to see the Crown Jewels. We each were using a cane. A guide came over and took us up on an elevator and someone was waiting to take us back down. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. We greatly appreciated that kind gesture. Another great video. Have a great weekend.
As always, I love the walks and talks. You know you're a good tour guide, even if you don't accept the position. I LOVE the Royal Mile, and I love it as its own entity. I go every time I'm in Edinburgh, and it's truly a thing on its own. I think of it as the framework or skeleton for all the shows, shops, churches, and things with the two book ends, as I call them. I prefer the Castle only because I can't stand the Royals, but the architecture is cool in the palace. Good job!! I'm sure we'll learn more about the other things to see when we are there. I could make a top 10 list, but it would be a lot closer to 50.
Last year, my first and only time in Edinburgh was, I got to Hollywood Palace as it was closing, so missed seeing it. However, after exploring the adjacent areas, I stumbled upon a wonderful cemetery. Not only were the tombstones interesting to read, the cemetery was elevated enough that it offered great views of that end of the city. Great video!
Thanks Tony! Holyrood Palace was closed when I was there last year, so I'll definitely go there on your recommendation next visit! I would emphasize on line booking - for everything. I was kind of surprised I needed reservations to eat at most places, even pubs, so I'll pass that along. I understand what you're saying about the Royal Mile, but my "guidebook" was knowledge of the oldest buildings from you! And stories about the Royal Mile, so my walk there was influenced by you. 😁😉😍
Thanks to your previous videos, i was able to entertain myself walking up and down The Royal Mile, what with Mimi’s Bakehouse and other places to stop or shop plus various closes etc. Loved it so much that it took me 7 hours 🤣😂🤪
Great video, looking forward to 1-5. Oh, and the videos you’ve done in the past going through ‘bad’ TripAdvisor comments are hysterical, maybe consider that again soon!
Really enjoyed the Camera Obscura, fab regardless of age, families, couples or individuals. We spent a good few hours in there, and my husband and I are in our 40’s.
Love your content . Very helpful on my 1st trip, bringing my daughters in November and have been fwd different videos that they might interesting.....tyvm & Continued success 🎉🍻
Hope everything is alright Tony , it would help your loyal supporters if you could give us a message on the community section , been with you from the start and i can't recall a gap of over 3 weeks between videos , as i have said many times before , happy to offer suggestions to help your channel grow , more interaction with the comments would make a big difference and exploring other areas of the city instead of the Royal Mile and Princes Street areas will make a nice change , all the best !.
Great video , as always Tony , have to disagree about the castle ! , for what you get , it is reasonably priced at £19.50 online ( wish you had mentioned the cost at Camera Obscura which is now £23 , not worth it anymore , some visitors say that it needs updated ). The castle is one of the top paid visitor attractions in the UK , the site has over 3,000 years of history on a 340 million year old volcanic plug , the first king of the combined Scottish and English crown , eventually became the UK , was born there , it is the most attacked castle in Europe , amazing panoramic views , if you like history and can spend up to 5 hours looking around , it should be on your bucket list. For a price comparison , the London Eye ,1 of hundreds of ferris wheels around the world costs £29 online for 30 minutes.
You speak of the expense of touring the castle or palace, I was there back in 2018 and found prices for them and everything else very reasonable. I had said if I had to go in debt for my trip so be it. I was very shocked, surprised and extremely pleased at cost of everything on my trip. I was able to do more than expected than I thought. Here in US in my home state of North Carolina there is the largest private house called Biltmore Estate from the guiled age and now is open for tours. The price for it is now between 100 and 125 dollars US and cannot take pictures video at all way over price in my opinion. But then again that is just another example of the GREEDY Americans. Next year I will be retired and hope to make another trip to Scotland..
Tony, Looking at the list from an American point of view two things we don't have in the USA are Castles and Palaces. It's my guess that is why they are on the top 10. I have family in Edinburgh and so have visited several times and prefer Sterling Castle which is much more historical and Craigmillar Castle ruins which doesn't have the crowds.
A lovely video, as always, Tony, but please tell me that you didn't film it " in order". I hope you edited it to save you walking too much. Edinburgh Castle to Holyrood Palace then back to Camera Obscura? No way! Hopefully you worked your way down the Royal Mile and finished at the bottom 🤞 Look forward to 6-1.
Tony, are you ok? Haven’t heard from you in two weeks: worrisome! Sincerely hope all is well. I wish we could check in with you in person, and I hope there’s someone close enough to you geographically and personally to do just that. 🙁❤
After a day and a half in Edinburgh I can't wait to leave. It's a pretty place but the food is horrific and the atmosphere is depressing, worst major city in Europe I've visited so far.

Can't wait for Part 2 of this: we are counting down to arrival in Edinburgh in 24h!!!!!!

Thanks Tony even though I live near Edinburgh

one thing I’d say about the camera obscure is it’s better on a sunny day!
That was great Tony. Looking forward to part 2 already.

We bought the Historic Scotland pass. By visiting Edinburgh and Sterling, all of our other castles were basically free.

Hey Tony it's good to see you and love the new video 😮❤

Was thinking the same thing!👀
First place I want to go is the Royal mile. Just to walk it. Just to walk the street with so much history where so many great people have been.
The Chocolate shop was closed on Monday when i went to see it
Not unusual in Edinburgh (or other European cities) for small businesses.

You mentioed that
All great things to do and see but am hoping that New Town/Leith/Stockbridge make it in there too. Looking forward to the 5.
Erster!😊
