- Ayesha Hazarika, a Scottish Muslim broadcaster, criticised the UK government's new definition of "extremism" on BBC’s Question Time on Thursday. She argued that the government is "using extremism" to "promote" anti-Muslim rhetoric and Islamophobia in the UK while Conservative MPs frequently downplayed far-right extremism.

You treat like Braverman was telling the truth when she was sacked from her previous job because of misuse of her office and then lying about it. How many conservatives have now convicted of a crime after being caught lying. Islam forbids the killing of innocent people so why blame the religion for the crazy people that use it, they don't even follow it properly. The problem is that certain religions and ideologies like to self-proclaim their exemption from scrutiny and evaluation. As though they have some special status.
People who disagree with them are unfairly being labelled as awful or extremists.
It's a slippery slope and it has to stop. In a free and democratic society we should be able debate and criticise other people's beliefs without being wrongly labelled.
