  • Official data shows government borrowing in July was above expectations and at its highest since the pandemic.
The Office for Budget Responsibility (OBR) expected borrowing to be £46.6bn - instead it reached £51.3bn.
Our economics and data editor Ed Conway joins Niall Paterson to talk about the unexpected rise in government borrowing and Chancellor Rachel Reeves' options at the October budget.
Plus, chief political correspondent Jon Craig discusses how long Labour's claim they are dealing with inherited problems will stand.

A Pakistani man in Pakistan was arrested for spreading the story which apparently triggered the riots.
So the "far right misinformation" and "Russian provocateurs" narrative was ........ Sky misinformation 🤣🤣🤣🤣
But they chose to be responsible by turning the comments of in the story, the Sky Defence League has a lot to answer for.

    HOW
Could, Britain not be in Debt when the previous Government had to back the whole Nation=Public/Private to the Tune of £418 Billion if not MORE during the Covid-19 & the state of the World Economy.
That Britain is only on the Wrong side by £20 Billion is an incredible achievement.
But let's be Honest the way New Labour is agreeing to Pay Increases is Disgraceful.
And who are they Hitting the Pensioners who paid their Taxes all their Lives supporting the Nation.
New Labour like the Original New Labour of Blair all Swdgger no Substance.

If it's good, they'll take credit for it. If it's bad they'll blame 14 years of Tory rule. Well, there's a reason Labour weren't elected in that time...

We borrowed all the time we had austerity. Not austere enough. If we get real austerity I'll eat my shorts
