In messing around with the settings I accidentally changed the voice prompts from multiple warnings plus the final prompt to just a single last minute prompt. I can't find where to enable the multiple one again. I seem to remember it called something like 'secondary' prompt.
hope there's a firmware update that reduces the number of times you have to say "go" for navigation. That was excessive :) Going to check out a 2015 today. This video was helpful.
Sometimes, I can not enter a destination, the alpha keyboard only shows a few letters, so a complete name cannot be entered. We end up using our cell phones. Just saw tutorial on navigation Map update also. Your video was excellent! Thank you
The keyboard is trying to narrow down destination possibilities as you type, so certain letters/numbers will start to disappear. If it becomes impossible to enter your destination, either try and enter it in a different way (if possible) or your location may not exist in the maps current database. Keeping your navigation system updated with the latest maps should help you avoid this.

When I try to use voice commands for navigation I receive a message that says "This feature cannot be used with the selected guidance voice profile" I have no idea what this means. Is there a fix for this? Thanks in advance!
Hey Bob! Do you ever remember changing the voice of your assistant? I believe there are a few different voices that you can choose from but I think that only one works with the navigation.

Quick question- is there a way to get the hard settings of this infotainment system? I have heard that pressing the HOME button and AUDIO/TUNE knob simultaneously will grant access to its more detailed settings however I have tried this but nothing happened. Lol

by "going dark" are you saying that the colors are changing to a darker color scheme (aka "night mode") or do you mean that the actual screen itself is dimming? What model & year are you referring to?
The map turns off and the screen goes back to the "home" display. This happens after about 30 seconds. I'd like to keep the map turned "on" until I turn it off.
That's doesn't sound like it's functioning normally to me. I would suggest having a dealer look at it. What model & year are you driving and I can double check if there is some sort of time-out function that may have been turned on.

I don't have the time to spend typing in state, street, address number etc. I should be able to link my phone's GPS to the vehicles monitor and speak my intended destination because my smart phone's GPS is clearly superior to that of Subaru's GPS.
That's exactly one of the benefits of having Apple CarPlay and Android Auto on the new 2018 and newer models. It will allow you to pull up your phone's map right on the screen in your car and use the voice assistant from your phone to navigate.
Sounds good but is not a lot of use for my current 2017 3.6 Legacy. I really like my Legacy except for that and the barely functioning auto dimming rear view mirror that can't be switched out with a manual dimming rear view mirror without crippling the safety system.
This may be a stupid question but I don't know much about cars... Does anyone know if your car have to be parked or turned off or can I as the passenger do this while my mom and I drive? Also, is there any extra cost for this service?
Sylvia, for safety reasons, it won't let you type in an address while the car is moving. If you have navigation built into the car, then it is free (you may choose to pay for map updates) but if you didn't buy a package with navigation, it's not something that can be added in.

I'm super disappointed in Subaru. Oh yeah, and try scrolling through that ridiculous list while you're driving. If you could show how to find an intersection that would be helpful. Please help...recently the navigation is taking me not on tollways ways or highways...it is taking me down 2 lane roads which does not make sense.

I too would like to update my 2017 Legacy to Apple carplay because my 2017 Subraru's GPS is limited compared to using my phone's GPS.
Unfortunately CarPlay isn't available on the 2017 Forester.
