Also, by the Indian law, Indian citizens can't hold the USD in their Paypal account as the amount would be auto withdrawn to the local bank account. For which PayPal charges a conversion fee of 3% and on this 3%, 18% GST is charged. So, the thumbnail of 0% GST isn't true if you don't have a foreign account, which most people don't have who are working remotely from India for international clients.

The issue with freelancing in India is the parental and societal pressure of job security. Unless you have a job or an established business, you either are considered unemployed or financially unstable. That's the reality. Nobody sees how much you earn or what you do.
You missed the most important point and that's rent.. I guess it's 2000$ per month Also considering you will have atleast 1 trip back to India in a year and 2 small trips within US, person can save max 15L/year and not more than that.. there are multiple aspects with complexity of you are living in US.. Grass is always greener on other side

no, its still better to live in India and work remotely. the cost of living and safety is better. and ruppee depreciates by 4% compared to dollar every year. so it is good.
Lol Indian economy is heavily dependant on US if US falls Indian economy will fall further. All these new startups are heavily funded by US VCs. If US is large cap company India is a small cap company.

A startup competing with company like TCS is an uphill task. Management of TCS is very competitive and they have lot of money and resources. Many times while acquiring projects tech gaints tend to provide free service of 3-4 months to clients inorder to acquire a project which becomes nightmare for any startup this kills competition upto certain extent..

My monthly pay slip is like I worked x hrs, hourly rate = y dollar, payment I received = x*y*75 INR rs - TDS as 194J code , e.g. inr dollar rate = 75 , TDS deducted 10% of payment. Do I need to pay GST ? or is this type of job is applicable for GST? Thanks for your help.

A little reality check on the study abroad example. The cost of the MBA is not being considered. The kind of MBA that provides a reasonable guarantee of the landing the said job in example will run you about 180k USD. So when you factor that, the savings diminish significantly. Also you gotta wash dishes and do laundry 😅

There's no direct method unless you are running a business.. Per my experience if you are from a job holder family then ideally every member from your family group should earn the money then only you can somewhere compete with inflation. If you are running a business then all taxes can be played with a single person's earning and even if u earn 20L, you pay nothing.. so you can actually compete with US earning little bit. That's why in India business running families are earning way more than salary class and salary class always remain poor

In continuation of the GST exemption point mentioned in the video, I will like to add further for better understanding. The threshold for GST registration and compliances in the case of export services is Rs. 20 Lakhs which means one needs to get GST registration on crossing the threshold limit of Rs. 20 Lakhs Gross Receipts. Regarding the exemption point, To be eligible for the exemption you must be receiving convertible foreign currency as consideration for your export services, then it would be classified as Export of Services. For Export Services, you can apply for LUT once you get GST registered and make the supply of such export services without payment of GST. Foreign Tax liability would depend upon the country's taw rules. Hi Akshat! Thanks for this insightful video. As you mentioned if a person is earning in USD and the money is hitting the Indian bank account. The money is loosing value every year, Is there a way to avoid that?
There's no direct method unless you are running a business.. Per my experience if you are from a job holder family then ideally every member from your family group should earn the money then only you can somewhere compete with inflation. If you are running a business then all taxes can be played with a single person's earning and even if u earn 20L, you pay nothing.. so you can actually compete with US earning little bit. That's why in India business running families are earning way more than salary class and salary class always remain poor

In continuation of the GST exemption point mentioned in the video, I will like to add further for better understanding.
The threshold for GST registration and compliances in the case of export services is Rs. 20 Lakhs which means one needs to get GST registration on crossing the threshold limit of Rs. 20 Lakhs Gross Receipts.
Regarding the exemption point, To be eligible for the exemption you must be receiving convertible foreign currency as consideration for your export services, then it would be classified as Export of Services. For Export Services, you can apply for LUT once you get GST registered and make the supply of such export services without payment of GST. The other option available would be to supply with payment of GST and later on claim the refund of the same.

@@sanjeebrakshit7139 GST Rate depends upon the nature of services provided. Generally, services are taxed at an 18% GST Rate in case export exemption is not available/claimed. Foreign Tax liability would depend upon the country's taw rules. If you are using any platform for providing your services, they will make sure tax deduction and also tax on their commission/services to you.

That's not true that GST is not to be paid. For service export, GST has to be paid to Indian government. If goods is exported, GST is not applicable.

Which platform are you using to receive international payment. I provide management consulting. I don't know how to receive payment from my first US client....I hear payoneer or wise sometimes block your account and it becomes a nightmare to resolve the issue. Hello, Akshat. This is my first youtube comment. Can you elaborate on the intrinsic value of Cryptocurrencies ( Ethereum, BTC ). Is it possible to put a number to the value of ETH? Stocks have their intrinsic value which can be decoded through financial statements, future growth, etc. Even though Blockchain has tremendous potential buying cryptos that are way above their intrinsic value wouldn’t be a great investment.

In terms of tax, what is the difference between income earned from India and income earned from US
For eg: if my income is 21L per annum, I would be paying tax of approx 3.6L per annum,
if suppose I work on a contract basis for a US company, I receive the same 21L as salary what would be my tax
Also does section 44ADA income tax act provide any tax benefit if I work on a contract basis for a dollar based company?
