  • In order to grow, in order to learn, in order to not stay stagnant and stuck. It's important when life presents you with the challenge zone to step into it. It's not comfortable. But then you can begin to look at it as this is where the learning takes place, this is where the growth takes place.
Pema Chödrön teaches us that the way to become more at ease in our rapidly changing world is to lean into that which makes you feel uncomfortable, and to grow your capacity to be with uncertainty. At 87, having shared her wisdom for more than four decades, Pema is doing fewer interviews these days. So, we are grateful for the opportunity we had, to sit down with her in the all-new Season 2 of Mystics Today.
Join host and Sounds True founder Tami Simon for the replay of the premiere of Mystics Today Season 2, Episode 2-a rare and touching moment with Pema Chödrön, only on Sounds True One. join.soundstru...

Sounds True was founded in 1985 by Tami Simon with a clear mission: to disseminate spiritual wisdom. Since starting out as a project with one woman and her tape recorder, we have grown into a multimedia publishing company with more than 80 employees, a library of more than 1500 titles featuring some of the leading teachers and visionaries of our time, and an ever-expanding family of customers from across the world. In more than three decades of growth, change, and evolution, Sounds True has maintained its focus on its overriding purpose, as summed up in our Mission Statement.

I forwarded this to my 70 staff as a parting, fatherly advice when I retired. ❤

    Just feel the rage,
    feel the shame,
    feel the guilt,
    feel the sadness,
    feel the depression,
    feel the grief,
    feel the remorse,
    feel the resentment,
    feel the passion,
feel the heat - feel the fire -
feel it, feel it, feel it...
    Your freedom depends on it!
Feel it all: just as it is. Just as it is. Just as it is -
not escalating further, not repressing, not suppressing,
not turning it into something hard...

This is excellent. Remaining in our comfort zone is simply an indication that we are not yet fully prepared for the next step. That being said, we should invite the comfort zone for a cup of tea, but it shouldn’t become our permanent residence or everything start to become more challenging.

Unfortunately for all too many of us the comfort zone is anything but comfortable.
It's easier to endure insanity or crazy making because it's known. For myself this recognition has turned into over a five decade process revealing itself to me. I would love to say knowing this is the end of this kind of way of existing but I've known it for years and am still going through it one memory and then person at a time. I suppose (for myself) one measure of progress is the significance of the relationship that's being dealt with. A mother and son relationship doesn't get more significant than any other in the beginning.
I recommend dealing with it as soon as you're able.

And are there not people living lifes continuously in the uncomfort zone? Cup of tea 🍵 might be there once offered, appreciated, assumingly.
