Encanto & “We don’t talk about Bruno” is #1 in our house!!! It has inspired my 7 year old to put together a group of kids in his class to practice and preform together! Every night for the past couple of nights, he makes us print out extra lyric sheets to make sure he can provide them for his class mates! He loves loves loves this movie and the sound track!!! This is what the arts are about! We love that Lin- Manuel is helping inspire the next generation of artist!

I loved the most how they humanized all the characters faults that you love them inspire of and see how they develop the people they are especially the grandmother. I find this this movie reflects unconditional love and what hurts families the most when expectations are placed on the specific gifts (and every one has gifts) instead of loving just the person for who they are. It humanizes so many families without making them evil or villainous in anyway. I love how faults can be changed with love :)
Soooo true!!! I also think it highlights how we can adopt coping mechanisms to make us feel safe after a traumatic experience. The abuela didn't realize it but in her efforts to keep the family safe (after what happened earlier in her life), she was actually emotionally harming her family and pushing them away!!! The movie was very deep on that level in terms of our dysfunctional though well-intended responses to trauma.
Can you believe I watched and rewatched the movie like 6 times, and I'm in my late 30s hahahaha I'm also obsessed with the Soundtrack lol

I believe it cause I'm right there with you. I'm just in awe of Lin's talent. And to think how many latinos he's inspiring and empowering to chase their dreams and change the makeup of Broadway and Hollywood. We don't deserve him, but I'm sure glad we have him, God bless him.
I love all of the music from the movie. But my top favorites are "Waiting for a Miracle," and "Surface Pressure." Mostly because the lyrics resonate with me. But "We Don't Talk about Bruno" is really well done from an artistic standing point.
I hope Lin finally gets the Oscar for this masterpiece of music.

I love this movie so much, I love all of the songs, but one of the songs I can’t stop hearing is We Don’t Talk About Bruno! There is something about that one song that everyone seems to love, not to mention that each and every song tells a story about the characters and the whole movie. And I was so glad to hear that Lin Manuel Miranda would be writing these songs. I love all of the songs he’s written for Hamilton, Moana, In the Heights, Vivo, and now Encanto! ❤️ I love Lin Manuel Miranda so much, he is an amazing songwriter, singer, rapper, and musical composer, he really writes like he’s running out of time!

They're talking about these two songs, because Disney didn't predict "We Don't Talk About Bruno" would be the huge hit (along with "Surface Pressure") and submitted "Do's Origitas" for the Oscars. It's a beautiful song, but might mean Lin misses out on his well deserved EGOT.
We don't talk about Bruno may be more popular for a variety of reasons, it's just insanely catchy, but Dos Oruguitas is a much better song, lyrically, melodically, and for what it represents in the movie. It has an excellent chance of winning him the EGOT. And usually with the Oscars, they seldom go with what's most popular and usually with what's most technically great. Fingers crossed.

I can tell this crowd doesn't entirely understand the talent and the mind that Lin-Manuel has/who he is. The way he broke down Dos Oruguitas says a lot about how much he understands the preciousness of life moments and emotions at any given time. Powerful attribute to have as a writer. His melodies combined with his lyrics are actually genius and always knows how to properly use modern day stylistic music and present them to a wider audience. Amazing writer and person! Can't wait to hear more from him.

The 1st time I've heard any of Lin's songs was when I was made by my fiance and kids to watch Hamilton on Disney plus. They loved it, knew ALL the songs by heart, I fell asleep halfway through it. So needless to say I was not a fan. Now Encanto I loved every song and could relate to some of the characters (Especially Luisa) "Surface Pressure" really hit me hard and the song about Two calipalers...WOW!
