    Wow I didn’t realize you were a handmade seller before. I am currently a handmade seller with established Etsy shops and I really need to switch to POD because I have a baby now and I just don’t have the time that I used to have, nor do I have the space to hire an employee to help so thank you so much for making these videos!! You are someone that I can relate to and trust because you probably have the same focus on quality that I have which I don’t see emphasized enough on POD content.

    Thank you Many. This is motivating. I’m preparing now. Can you do video of products we can offer other than T-shirt? I’m trying to offer mugs and ornaments, but I’m not sure how to design for those. If I want to do personalization how do I organized them so when people ordered I’m not trying to find where I put the design. I am all over the place now and I’m afraid to not remember where I put the design and cannot find them to personalize for orders later.

    I've started working on fall products and should at least be getting holiday stuff back up that I had last year. My issue continues to be getting eyes on my products. I'll add new listings and have literally zero views (which makes it hard to gather data and see what might be working or not). Before this year this hasn't ever happened so except for using Etsy Ads I'm at a loss of what to do. I just ran a 24 hour sale and no sales. Most days now I'm making one sale here and there and there's no one product that's doing the most. The niche I'm in should be solid, but my yearly stats are down over 30% from last year. I watch you and Shawna and Cassiy and get so much inspiration and information. I know my designs are solid, but getting people to look at them seems to be my biggest issue right now. Any advice would be welcomed :)

     @studiomdesignsco Thank You for your help and inspiration! As you told us below You sell mostly sweatshirts and hoodies with price point 35-37USD. We are just about to open up Etsy POD store. We have 3 questions regarding size and color. You say to keep it simple... Here is a challenge to us:
    1) Have you still had an experience with Shirts and due to the big price competition, low margins you do not see the point sell Tees? Some sell T shirts in Size range from Toddler to Unisex - the price point they use in store is the lowest. Do you suggest to copy that strategy?
    2) Some use very little range of colors some offer all the colors with shirts, comfort color shirts, sweatshirts and hoodies. If we offer to the customers more colors, are there any costs involved?
    3) Does it make sense to use Comfort Colours for more loose / easy going / cool topics and topics like profession or books simple Bella+Canvas3001 or Gildan18000/18500?

    Love your videos Mandy!! I see most t-shirt shops on Etsy price their t-shirts at $21 including shipping… Now at a $21 price point including shipping, May I know how much profit per t-shirt this seller would be making approximately? If I use a POD partner like printify, May I know how should I price my t-shirt so that I get a $5 net profit per t-shirt sold?

    • @studiomdesignsco
      @studiomdesignsco  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Too many variables to know what another seller is making - they could have lower costs for items or they could be a handmade seller. Different tshirts have different costs and you’ll want to factor in being able to run sales, etc. Definitely use a profit calculator like the free one on EtsyHunt - plug in your costs from Printify, any discount you want to offer, and then start trying out different retail numbers. It’ll tell you exactly what your profit will be, so just keep adjusting your selling price in the calculator until you get to the net profit that you want 😊

      @Om-gg5tk ปีที่แล้ว

      @@studiomdesignsco thanks Mandy!One last question-- What are your thoughts on offering free shipping rather adding extra shipping costs to the purchase? Since most customers want free shipping, I am not sure if I should factor in shipping in my price of t-shirt as it will definitely make my t-shirt look expensive compared to my competitors.

  • @jayjayf9699
    @jayjayf9699 ปีที่แล้ว

    You know if I do a sale how do I work out the shipping and cost of good sold so that if I do, do a sale then I’m not at a loss, also let’s say I offered free shipping then I would put the shipping cost in the price of the product, but since the shipping cost is variable , do I assume the highest shipping cost to add to the product and then mark it up for the profit margin? I hope that makes sense, for example shipping costs for the Middle East are like 15 dollars for a sweatshirt and take the price up to 50 dollars even before a sale

  • @stacyosborn4537

    Mandy are we allowed to duplicate a listing as far as keeping all SEO but changing thumbnail pic? Secondly, when you say create 5-10 listings a day or week do you mean 5-10 total designs and one list per design with variations in the one list -such as colors, sweatshirt or t-short? Or can we create one design and a few variations with SEO and create 5 listings if we have that many variations available-to try and reach different audience For example -I will use the broad “mom” niche -1 may be optimized a lot for “mom” but I could use same design and optimize it same but more audience such as gift for aunt, sisters, grandma-ect. I know this confuses me and others when ppl say do 5 listings a day. I know right now I can’t design and do SEO x5 in one day-which I try to do all my SEO in a one day and build designs in another day and list the next. But back to my point the only way I can do 5 or more in one day is if it’s a scaleable design that you personalize or just change keyword like “nurse” and then exchange keywords peds, RN, LPN, ect all same design and change profession or speciality if makes sense. Or dog breeds as you have shown. But not everything is a scaleable design. What is your input and clarification. Ty

    Hey, Mandy.
    If we start to build a general store with several different Niches from 0, should we start with a Christmas design or an evergreen niche design at first?

    • @studiomdesignsco
      @studiomdesignsco  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would build in some evergreen designs first to establish some traffic across your variety of niches to help give your shop some direction, then take those niches and make Christmas variations for them (steer clear of generic Christmas designs as a new shop, they’ll rarely get seen - I made that mistake last year!) 🤓

    • @studiomdesignsco

      Not really (and the percentage that actually turn into sales is small) - BUT I do use favorites as clues/data as to which listings are actually getting seen in search results and that appear to have some interest.

  • @tammymiller4819
    @tammymiller4819 ปีที่แล้ว

    How many listings do you suggest on average in an Etsy shop? So many different opinions on this. But what you are doing is obviously working so i value your opinion. I am just starting and have 87 listings. No sales yet but I know that is a very small listing amount. Just would like to have an idea so that I can set goals. Thank you so much!

      There’s not particularly a magic number, but with volume comes learning, practice, and data so that you can hone in on what works (or doesn’t). For my primary shop, I got to about 700 listings by Q4 in 2022. 🤓

    • @studiomdesignsco
      @studiomdesignsco  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      DTG is very different from other common processes like vinyl and screenprinting. Sometimes there is a quality error (you can always check in with Printify support and send photos). But in general the print is going to be more subdued because it’s absorbing into the fabric vs sitting on top of it. I always describe the style as more vintage-like and/or distressed in my listing to help set customer expectations and I always include care instructions such as washing inside out and drying on low. When possible, use products with higher cotton content (vs polyester) too - the ink takes better on cotton 🤓

    How does one know when to give up...I have over 850 items and spend over $20 month in fees and get one sale maybe every two months and make a dollar if I am lucky. I can't give the stuff away so it must be bad design...bad everything. Been working 12-16 hours 6 days a week since November. Can't give the crap away. So how many months or years before I can even make $500/month...seems like never.

      Without knowing anything about your shop, it’s hard to say, but sounds like it might be a low demand niche (or very high competition, in which case even the best designs will still be lost in the crowd). Researching demand and creating designs targeted to specific customers/validated niches plays such a big role 💜
