I Live in Virginia MN, 65 miles North of Duluth, (the Iron Range) my Wife and I Drive Jeeps, both have remote start , back in the 1970s and 80s ? Going outside to start your Car Sucked !!! God bless remote start...
I dig your energy and you're spot on. I've been a resident of Minnesota for the last 30+ years but in the process or moving Down South in the next couple of years. Keep the videos coming.
also drive a FWD Altima and thank goodness it is remote start and has heated seats! very useful in the winter. Never bothered with snow tires since I live in the metro and they are really good about plowing streets - only time I've ever gotten stuck was in the alley behind my house or on the side street leading to the main road and that's only happened a couple of times. but once you're on the main roads I have had zero issue getting around even as snow is piling up on the roadways. and while I never experienced the key lock issue thanks to having a FOB and coded entry on my house what I have had happen a few times as the door for the gas tank being frozen shut when I stopped to get gas lol. I will say, from experience, that if you're having issues like getting stuck or your freaking gas tank door won't open there is no shortage of people willing to lend a hand and help you get on your way - always pay it forward because one day you will be the one who needs that nice little assist.
It seems like you have had a lot of good experiences since moving here from Florida. I might have to get you on the podcast to highlight some of the differences!
That's crazy. It's currently 25 degrees and snowing here right now lol. Im glad you like them! Let me know if you ever get sick of that beautiful weather and want to come in over to the frozen tundra. 🤣
I grew up in Michigan so I'm familiar with snow, but learned to drive in Phoenix, AZ so have no idea how to drive in it. Definitely something to learn.
Grew up in Miami and I love winter in Minnesota. Its really not that cold or snowy. But I can handle the cold as long as its well above zero. Its only a handful of days that are REALLY bad. The snow is beautiful but what no one tells you is it can also go weeks without snowing and then I love how the snow covers the ugly slush and crust. Also I lived here since 2017 and never use winter tires. Just decent all-season tires is good enough
I live in NM and looking at MN for getting my master's degree. The area I live in borders CO and we are considered high desert. We don't get much snow (or moisture of any kind), but this winter has seen temps below 10°F.
As a lifelong Iron Ranger, I prefer a good all year tire so I don't have to pay to swap them out each spring & fall. All-wheel drive or push button 4-wheel drive & a truck or SUV are my other preference since I live on a hill. Just remember that 4-wheel drive won't help you on ice, it will make it worse. Just slow down & drive carefully & you will get around just fine. Winter survival kits are important in winter & a cell phone too. I have had AAA & Roadside assistance through my insurance company & I highly recommend buying one of them. You might not need it very often, but you will be happy you have it when it's below zero & your vehicle won't start. Actually, Minnesota temperature ranges vary depending on where you are in the state since it's a large state - my county - St Louis County - is literally bigger than several Northeastern states & the Iron Range is about 3 1/2 hours north of the Twin Cities Metro Area. The record for coldest air temperature was -60°F up here on the Range (officially it's Tower, but neighboring Embarrass had their thermometer break so they couldn't post the official reading to the weather service). -26°F is warmer than our coldest winter temperatures up here in air temperature & in wind chill. The below zero temperature days are more frequent in the northern half of the state too.
As a college student in MN who's from the South, I have to say that winters here are pretty cold, but as long as I have my water-proof boots and a heavy coat I can stay warm :)
Duluth has a skywalk system too - it's a lifesaver in winter! Even on a hot day in summer too. Not as big & impressive as the Cities systems, but still great if you are a local or from the Arrowhead or Range. Personally, my family has used the clinic/hospital system skywalks the most over the years.
I can imagine living somewhere else in the winter but not move for good. The second version is when it’s -20 degrees out and the wind is whipping around. The first version is like today when there’s snow on the ground but it’s 30 degrees out. Aka Minnesota Spring lol
I'm moving to Minnesota next month. I lived there as a kid. I like your channel. I'm leaving Texas because I miss the snow so much! 70 degree winter temps in TX is just not right. After 4 years of Texas, I'm moving back up North. 😀

A jeep is sooo nice. Remote start is almost a requirement lol.

I appreciate it, and thanks for watching! Are you sick of the cold now after 30 years? lol

It isn’t that hard, but that’s coming from a Minnesotan lol.

Yeah this year is actually the most snow we’ve gotten in a very long time.
@@movingtominnesota Yes. I noticed this season we havent had many snow days BUT we have had many snowSTORMS.

I would tell you to be prepared then because temps below 10 degrees are very normal here. lol

Good morning. Very useful information. Great content.

Exactly! As long as you have the right gear you'll be just fine.
Good content bro, keep it up 🙏🙏🙏
Thanks! I appreciate it!
One of the things you forget to mention about dealing with Minnesota winters is the extensive skyway system in both downtown Minneapolis and St. Paul.
When you're born and raised here you forget about things that are unique to Minnesota because you're so used to them.

I feel like MN has the winters I had in MD as a kid lol
This past winter was the most snow we've gotten for as long as I can remember.
@@movingtominnesota I’m looking forward to real winters again one day!
One word.... Florida
Would personally rather take the cold than the humid heat.
Streets in winter walking trip break your neck on the curbs never plow them out
The black ice is no joke for sure!
Just make sure you buy a house with a garage and ideally an AWD car, but FWD is fine.
Yeah you have to be a skilled winter driver for FWD. lol
So funny!!!
Thank you! Did you learned something as well I hope 😂
@@movingtominnesota I grew up in the country in West Central Minnesota. We had snowsuits!!
live rual get below 30 afew times each winter, no real snow @ 3k ft.
Coming from Massachusetts where 90% of our snowfall has the consistency somewhere between a 7/11 slushie and concrete, that doesn't sound that bad.
💀 That was a very good description. lol!
Born and raised in Minnesnowta. I can't imagine living anywhere else. They call us crazy... wheres that second winter you were talking about?

We seem to be getting alot of people from California!

Glad you like it! And you definitely missed ALOT of snow this year. This is actually the most that I've seen in a while. Where you moving to?
@@movingtominnesota , way north to Thief River Falls. I know it's going to be a drastic change. Lol
