Changed my 2014 gl450 rear air suspension over the weekend and I didn’t have to remove the height leveling sensor arm as the old and new suspension came out and in over the brake rotor very easy. I also did not have to remove fitting off of the new suspension as this is not recommended by manufacturer and it makes the job very easy just to push the air line in. I think anyone wanting to save some money can do it. NOW MY QUESTION TO YOU. I ONLY CHANGED THE REAR LEFT THAT I HAD AN ISSUE WITH BECAUSE RAIN DICTATED WHEN I STOPPED, BUT DO I REALLY NEED TO CHANGE THE OTHER SIDE AS WELL? I DO HAVE A NEW AIR SUSPENSION THAT I PAID FOR, BUT NOW THAT EVERYTHING IS OK IT SEEMS THAT I DONT WANT TO FIX SOMETHING THAT IS NOT BROKEN.
Glad to help, first of all, congrats, and thanks for sharing the info. Please don't change it as you said "TO FIX SOMETHING THAT IS NOT BROKEN" Thanks again for sharing the info. and thanks for watching.
Great explanation. Thanks for posting this. Made slightly more difficult for me because I wasn't comfortable working underneath the car - damn heavy ol' girl although your instruction to put the wheel underneath is absolutely right on. The airline nut didn't want to loosen for me so I squirted some release agent onto it and then it came loose. The flange underneath the airline nut made access with a spanner awkward but I managed in the end. I have a pair of Arnott airbags on order now.

Question...brother... Will these steps work on a (211?) 2006 e350 4matic wagon AWD with air suspension. The rear needs replacing ..also where would you suggest buying the part for? Thanks Brother. Malcolm in Tacoma, WA
Makes you wonder why the dealer wants to charge you $$$$$$$ for such a simple job. $100 ànd a few hours ( if that ) of you time. Thanks for the video !!!!!
When you jacked it up using the floor jack, did you jack it at the rear differential? I can't tell because it's a little blurry on the vid...and then place the jackstands on the jack points on each wheel? I've been trying to figure out how to jack the GL from the rear...i know where the jack points are behind the rear wheels, but I need to figure out where to place the floor jack when lifting it in order to put jackstands in.

Thanks for the video. I changed the back passenger and It worked fine, the bags inflated with no problem. Car was leveled perfectly. As Soon as I changed the back driver side, same steps, the car lowered and would not rise again. Thought it maybe be the 40 fuse so replaced it but no luck. The compressor is fine since the front lefts? No leaks either? Any advice on what may be the issue? Is there a factory reset or something to get the back up they way they were before? Sorry for the long rant, but i need some insight from an expert. Online forums dont address the issue.
Easy Steps please clarify? The sensor on the chassis? I didn’t disconnect anything only unscrewed it from the frame! So it seems that the first set of bags I bought may have been smaller, I installed a bigger bag 14” and it looked fine when the car was jacked, once drop it stayed elevated but dropped once I drove it. Alot of bouncing from the rear. Ince parked the bags inflated but I don’t think its to the full potential as when i took them off the jack?
Peter Canizalez theoretically, it doesn't really matter the length of the bag, as long as it has similar range of motion. The car has no idea how big the bag is; just that the ride height sensor is telling it to rise or lower (ie: add or remove air). If the car is not leveling properly, perhaps you forgot to re-attach the sensor arm, or broke it? Doubtful there are other holes to bolt it to, but did you put it back in the wrong position maybe? Maybe the sensor arm is dead all-together and that was always your issue? Check the wires to the sensor, that you didn't accidentally disconnect or damage the terminals. Good luck.
Peter Canizalez same thing happened to me, go back and make sure you put the level sensor back the way it was, the arm has to be facing out... thats all
Thanks, it's normal to hear the hissing sound for 2 to 3 seconds after turning off your car but if you hear it longer time then definitely you have a leak, thanks for watching.

Greg Anderson frame points are rubber blocks in front of rear and behind front tires on the outter frame. There are also ribbed points on the lower control arm if want to support by the suspention.
You can remove and install the real air suspension bag through the space between the control arm and the wheel well, if the wheel is off. no reason to uninstall and re-install the height sensor. there is enough room to manuever the air bag, if you just squeeze it down little bit.
@@EasySteps_Sidhu also, Bilstein is the OEM company that manufactured these air suspensions for Mercedes. However, there are German made ones, and USA made ones. German made air suspensions last around 10 years, but USA made Bilsteins only last 5 years, in my experience. so get the German made Bilsteins, if you can find them.

Did this GL have the ADS (adjustable suspension - sport comf mode)? If yes, would it matter what spring (not strut) would I install? Please reply asap as I am about to purchase. Thank you!
I also have a X164 2007 GL450 and noticed that you have LED DRL in the front. I'm looking for the same ones that you have and wanted to know how did you wire them to come on with the engine every time it starts. Thanks in advance. - Dee.
Great video as always. Pls do a video on this same vehicle on how to upgrade or replace the glove box bulb to LED. Because some led bulbs tend to stay on despite the glove box closed for many minutes.
Hey man great video. I had a few questions I would like to ask you in regards to my 2012 CLS 550. I was told I need to replace the left and right rear air suspension strut. This part is said to be covered under my CPO extended warranty. However, I am being told that it isn’t covered bc it’s not a part not in fact covered. Am I being given the run around or could this be true? Not sure how many parts go in to the suspension. Thought it was the actual air bag and strut. Could use your expertise. Thanks.
Everyones does, even with brand new bags. The air inside the bladder cools and contracts. When its really cold for extended periods, the air will contract so much the bag will appear deflated. No loss of air, just less air volume. Mercedes even recognises this and has mentioned it in the manuals for over a decade. If it only does this in super cold weather, you're fine.

Mercedes Benz owners beware!! The people from Strutmasters have a rip off with the so called "conversion kit", no matter what car it is. They advertise this conversion kit will solve the issue of the "expensive" Airmatic ride in Mercedes Benz. On the contrary, their product is a very low quality, highly expensive replacement part since it does not last more than a year and a half. When you contact them, they say it is not their fault, that they only buy parts from other vendors and put them together and they supposedly do not have any control on the durability of parts. The kit is $1,300 initially and they don't sell just the front or back sets, you have to buy the whole thing. Later on, when it fails, they urge you to buy the whole thing again. And the "discounted price" they tell you they will give you if anything happens in the future is not true. They charge $586 for each seat, front or rear, which is basically the initial price. I urge all owners of Mercedes Benz to buy the replacement Airmatic struts and save the headache of having a below average conversion with a kit that does nothing of what is advertised and really turns your car in a piece of junk that is almost impossible to go back to the Airmatic. The movements of the car change badly and then when the Strutmasters shocks begin to fail they make a horrible squeaking noise that is almost unbearable. I wish I never bought the kit from them!! I only had to save a little and buy the real thing, the OEM struts that would last years and years before failing. On top of everything Strutmasters customer service is the worst and they even use women to hide behind lame excuses!

I just got the front air suspension fixed today the dealer charged me 2,100 it was low to the ground last week so I took my car to the dealer today gl550
Thanks so much for this video, you saved my car. I have a question: after replacing both back air suspensions they are working great however sometimes it says malfunction! Any idea? Thank you again.
@@EasySteps_Sidhu thanks for the reply, i checked and there are no leakage, it works fine but sometimes malfunction shows and if i press rise both back suspensions deflates and the back of the car lowers down!
Lorena Molina that is correct... sort of. "Car too low" is telling you something is not operating correctly with your air suspension and it is unsafe to drive; could be leaking bag, leaking hose, blown pump fuse, or dead pump. Your ride is probably super rough and bumpy right now. This will also affect your handling, braking, and acceleration. Do you ever hear hissing? Do you hear the pump running?
This video is absolutely WRONG!!! DO NOT REMOVE the air compressor fuse unless you have a way to get your vehicle out of limp home mode. Leave the fuse alone, otherwise it's fine.

another great video, thank you.
Did this GL have the ADS (adjustable suspension - sport comf mode)? If yes, would it matter what spring (not strut) would I install? Please reply asap as I am about to purchase. Thank you!
What brand air spring is used? Arnott or dedc?
I also have a X164 2007 GL450 and noticed that you have LED DRL in the front. I'm looking for the same ones that you have and wanted to know how did you wire them to come on with the engine every time it starts. Thanks in advance. - Dee.
Great video as always. Pls do a video on this same vehicle on how to upgrade or replace the glove box bulb to LED. Because some led bulbs tend to stay on despite the glove box closed for many minutes.
thank you!
Great to hear! Glad I could help! please share, thanks.🙏

I changed my rear airbags and for some reason it doesn't want to inflate
Hey man great video. I had a few questions I would like to ask you in regards to my 2012 CLS 550. I was told I need to replace the left and right rear air suspension strut. This part is said to be covered under my CPO extended warranty. However, I am being told that it isn’t covered bc it’s not a part not in fact covered. Am I being given the run around or could this be true? Not sure how many parts go in to the suspension. Thought it was the actual air bag and strut. Could use your expertise. Thanks.
What year model?
Year Model: 2007 Mercedes GL450 (This procedure will be same from 2007-2012)
Thanks for watching it.
You don't need to remove the ride height sensor or any other nuts or bolts that's the hard way
Yeah...you don't need to remove them.
🙏 thanks for the visit. Thanks for watching.🙏
Great video thank you, when will you be doing the fronts?
Perfekt Job 💪👍
Glad it helped 🙏 thanks for the visit.

Can I do the same on a 2000 S500 Benz? Nice video btw
No you can't.
What about the bags in the front?
How much should it cost if I get tech work on it?
What size is the airline ?
What size are the air fittings
My E550 air suspension drop down when the temperature is -5C or lower.
If it only does this in super cold weather, you're fine.
not all heroes wear capes
Thanks, glad to help.

Great video.......Could you please post a video for the GL Class X166 air suspension replacement or provide directions. Many thanks and Bless you man.
It's the same for X166.
Only your meant to put the air back Into the sock before lowering back down as apparently his can damage the bag.
You always let it filled up before you lowering down, once down then it will raise it itself.
Here is the video I have shown in the details. - th-cam.com/video/__8u3GSQ4xk/w-d-xo.html

Thanks for sharing info.

Should post this on their website!
I just got the front air suspension fixed today the dealer charged me 2,100 it was low to the ground last week so I took my car to the dealer today gl550
why mine Gl350 2012, after replacing , both rear is not inflate air. Any one has any idea?
maybe your air pump is broken.
Did you remember to reinstalled the fuse
cool.. r u a mechanic too.
Thank you!!!
The rears are stupid easy. Too bad my front is leaking.
❤❤
Thanks. Glad to help.

Good video but 10 em em and 8 em em is annoying me lol.
Just say 10 mil or 8 mil 🤗
I'm surprised how poorly its protected from the elements
is this why my car says "car too low" cuz of the air bags?
Lorena Molina that is correct... sort of. "Car too low" is telling you something is not operating correctly with your air suspension and it is unsafe to drive; could be leaking bag, leaking hose, blown pump fuse, or dead pump. Your ride is probably super rough and bumpy right now. This will also affect your handling, braking, and acceleration. Do you ever hear hissing? Do you hear the pump running?
10 "m" m" key
Thats how mechanical smurf does the job when he had some fresh mushrooms from chefcook smurf😁
And mercedes will charge you a fortune for this
it is wrong! Do not remove NEW fiting!!! read the manual first
This video is absolutely WRONG!!! DO NOT REMOVE the air compressor fuse unless you have a way to get your vehicle out of limp home mode. Leave the fuse alone, otherwise it's fine.
That is a great video why someone should listen to you as you never had any automotive video out
Sloppy video key steps were left out. Thanks for nothing .
What steps are missing?
Great video!
Glad you enjoyed it, 😊😊Thank you! Cheers!
