Great video Liam. That building looks fantastic! As soon as you said ‘sharp knife’ I immediately looked at the dressing on your finger and got the irony 😂
Cheers Chris, thanks for the nice feedback! I think I had dressings on 2 different fingers during the course of this video! The worst was partially modelling related on my left finger, foolishly trying to open a blister pack with a scalpel. Needless to say, I lost...
@@chrisderby986 you are correct! It it still quite numb after 6 weeks! One of the moments where you know it’s wrong but think it will be ok. It wasn’t.
Great Detailing! Im just embarking on layout mk2 and my aim is to scratch build as much as I can so this was really helpful. The mention of a very sharp blade followed by the big bandage at @5.30 made me laugh and Im sure we can all relate to that! :-)
Hi Liam - That was very interesting mate. Loved the Deansbury Works build, very impressive, makes me want to crack on with mine. Really enjoyed the roofing section, very realistic. I personally would love to see every build shown in this way, so instructive and very helpful. Your layout is going to be extremely impressive when finished. Regards Chris
Hi Chris, glad you enjoyed it and welcome to the channel and the video. It’s a slow burner, a couple of hours a week is about average but I’m really enjoying making the buildings. Thanks
Hello The Deansbury sign you created really looks very impressive . Every little bit of detail you have added to the low relief building has created a great sense of depth. I am very much looking forward to seeing you create and develop your layout. Keep sharing and model on Regards Lee@NEAR
Hi Lee, thanks for the kind feedback, it really helps encourage me to keep going with the modelling and the videos. There is indeed more on the way hopefully a bit quicker this time round! Thanks
Fantastic building Liam, and for a first scratch build too... the quality is superb. You definitely did not waste your time making that sign. It really finishes off the building perfectly. Love all of the extra detail on the building. Super!
A great looking model, Liam. I've found that using ordinary, aluminium baking foil makes a convincing lead flashing. You can leave it unpainted to represent new lead, or give it a grey wash to create the impression of age. It also seems to have that "folded" quality you see with flashing which is difficult to replicate using anything else. Thank you for posting and stay well.
Many Thanks for the nice feedback Paul. I have used tin foil on some of the other builds, in my first video I showed my terrace houses which I used tin foil. It was a while ago I did these and I found it difficult to stick using PVA - what glue did you use? I agree it does give a great finish. Take care
@@deansburytownmodelrailway5056 Hi Liam, I tend to use a dab or two of CA (superglue) when using tinfoil flashing, especially when the foil is slightly crumpled, which helps with the adhesion, but I have used UHU before now - the join isn't going to be under much stress and the foil tends to "flatten" itself to the model anyway.
Really nice building Liam, great detailing and the lighting is excellent. The sign looks fantastic and makes the building. Looking forward to your next up date, cheers Liam, John
Great videos! Yes the sign really does work and worth the effort!

It’s still numb now and that was from March!

Nice Building, looks good. finger bandage must have made the work a bit difficult for you.
Many thanks John, yes I had to have a few days off modelling and it’s still quite numb.
