Thank you for this, watched loads of your videos before, mostly Sharp Practice but not CoC, getting into this now and found this really useful as i tend to be quite lazy when it comes to reading rules!
What a fantastic tutorial video! You guys really knocked it out of the park with this one. Covered all of the bases - movement, shooting, national characteristics, assaults, vehicles, anti-vehicle weapons, and great use of CoC dice. This will make a really good reference for people wanting to learn how this amazing game actually plays. As for the "Maschinengewehr" rule, it's most useful when your LMG is the only thing you're trying to expose, which generally happens when the your cover isn't big enough to protect the entire section. So for instance if you keep the bulk of the squad behind a building but still want those juicy belt-fed LMG dice shooting around a corner, the LMG team gets to claim cover and the rifle team is out of LOF. This is infinitely better for you than having the rifle team standing in the open just to get a few extra dice. Finally, the extra dice for "Maschinengewehr" get more important as Shock mounts and you start losing dice.
Marc Renouf thanks Marc. Glad you liked t. The problem with leaving the LMG team exposed is you can’t spread the hits around. So if they are the only visible team they have to take all the hits while the rifle team sits safe out of Los.
Absolutely, but there are times where that's worth it. Peeking out around the corner of a brick or stone building is hard cover, but exposing the rest of the squad means dudes in the open (which in turn usually means tons of kills and Shock). Even if the LMG is the only thing that's exposed, it still gets to count the guys in the nearby rifle team for purposes of pinning or breaking. And remember, it only costs a CI to transfer men between teams, so if your LMG team does take a kill here or there, you can just pop a rifleman in there to take up hauling ammo or unboxing belts. Used this way, LMG teams are remarkably resilient.
Tabletop CP Also good if you add you senior leader to the section, and split the commads between leaders to get everyone to fire. I imagine this would be even more so with grenadiers (2 lmgs/section).
Thanks for this video. I was having a rough time getting the hang of the game but it's starting to become clearer to me now. Videos that really break things down are helpful for me while I wait for the rulebook to arrive.
Great video again chaps. Looking forward to Citadel, I am tempted to give this a try too. Regarding wounds on leaders, a 2or3 does not also reduce the leaders initiative, confirmed in the latest FAQ, so you are doing it correctly.
Alright...first, what an excellent "how-to" video you and guys made. I really enjoyed it, and I believe you got everything right. I really never like the German Maschinengwehr. It really works when a Jr leader and a LMG team is left from the squad...or if a Sr leader is hanging around and looking for something to do. Second the terrain looks really good too. So since you did a few painting vids, you need to do a "how to" on making walls and fences. Those look really good. I have linked this vid for others to watch. What makes ti vid really nice...I can understand every word you guys are saying when talking. I like the TFL vids...but damn, after awhile it gets a bit challenging understanding through the accent. Again, excellent show!
redmist1122 thanks redmist! Very kind of you. I kind of felt like you felt watching that move Darkest Hour. I think I understood about 10% of what Churchill was saying.
Another cracking installment of CoC guys. Only one thing from me - I think you were mixing up the AP and HE values for the KV1, it should be HE 5 iirc. I check every weekend for the next vid and I'm really looking forward to the Citadel campaigns. Keep it up!
The 4 net hits=boom stuff is an invention by Rich on the BoW video. The worst you can get is 3 net hits on the table. Mind you with so many pens I would certainly expect the roman candle effect..... A loss of a tank is a roll on the Support unit lost section of the BTH table rather than tank lost. The tank lost part of the QRS refers to a tank platoon losing a tank rather than losing one that's supporting an infantry platoon. The QRS tries to combine both in one table.
Nice video. One suggestion though try and limit the constant movement and especially the rapid swaps of the camera as that can cause motion sickness in those that suffer from it.
Thanks again for an excellent battle report. Just a small note on the "tactics". In fact, the Russian tank - even before it was deployed - could have made a huge difference, if you didn't limit its deployment options. "Vehicles do not use Jump‐Off Points, instead using their friendly table edge (usually a road which enters there) as their entry point. They may elect to deploy anywhere within the permitted distance of this entry point and in any direction from it" (page 16). So, according to the rules, it could have come anywhere at the friendly table edge, quickly getting on the road, and start shooting, effectively pinning the German left flank and denying them any safe "road-crossing", while the Russian infantry would have attacked from the front. Just knowing that the "tanks are coming" would have made the Germans play very differently. Their only "solution" for the Russian tank would have been the Panzerschreck team, which could have probably waited to ambush it, when it appeared. Just a thought... :-)
sorry to be so off topic but does someone know a way to get back into an instagram account? I was stupid lost my password. I would appreciate any tricks you can offer me!
@Weston Santiago i really appreciate your reply. I got to the site on google and im in the hacking process now. Looks like it's gonna take a while so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
Really nice video. Just watch the order in which close combat dice are determined. Shock subtracts dice before cover adds dice. It impacts the ‘extra die per three dice’ calculation.
Why did Andre say ' I can't fire HE now because the tank is more than 6" from the fence'? About 58 minutes in. The tank didn't have line of sight through the orchard, so he tried to move the tank bank and sideways. Thank you.
Great video, gentlemen! Where did you get your reference tables, by the way? They are way better than the ones in the .pdf rulebook, and better than any other QRSs I could find so far....
I beleive it should not matter where the tank comes on. The mission is for a "team" to get to the edge. A vehicle can not be activated on a 1, as it is not a team. By proxy getting a leader to the edge with no troops would not work either.
A tactical play with all those patrol markers is fine. But when it takes a half of the game time it starts to look like a markers game, not miniatures game.
Tabletop CP Of course, I exaggerate about half a game. But I have seen many reports on CoC on TH-cam and most of them have a very long preparation phase. You had 35 minutes. Too much for tokens to my mind. But tastes differ. As for the rest of the game it was fun. And your explanation of the rules is good. But the rules are not to my taste. I will try Rules of Engagement probably.

Awesome as always boys, love the exploding marker, also, “got a little dicey down there” nice Andre, nice.
Thanks for putting up the videos guys. Not alot of Chain of command reports to feed my obsession.
Awesome learning game. Thank you for uploading, it helped me a lot! Great work😃
Really a great video and a very close game. Started watching these after running out of your SP videos to watch. Excellent report!
Great report, presented in a way that really explained the rules. Table looked great. Picked up a number of things I was uncertain about.

Steve Philp yeah I noticed later we were rolling too much HE for the KV 1. Oh well.

great game folks, Did Andre forget to use his sniper when he had a couple of spare ones in some of the phases
Where did you buy the Color rims for the Leader bases?

@Weston Santiago it worked and I now got access to my account again. I am so happy!
Thanks so much you really help me out :D
@Christopher Brennan glad I could help =)

Also LMGs only add dice in defense.
Roger that. So the order listed is the order it has to be applied.
thank you for this teaching game
A Russian fence builder is crying into his vodka...
Why did Andre say ' I can't fire HE now because the tank is more than 6" from the fence'? About 58 minutes in. The tank didn't have line of sight through the orchard, so he tried to move the tank bank and sideways. Thank you.
The terrain rule said if you are more than 6” from the fence you can’t see or be seen.
Great video, gentlemen! Where did you get your reference tables, by the way? They are way better than the ones in the .pdf rulebook, and better than any other QRSs I could find so far....
Not sure where I got those. I think from the lardies forum.
Thanks! Found them: troubleatthemill.blogspot.com/p/chain-of-command-quick-reference-sheet.html

It doesn’t take half the game. It takes as much time as you want it to.

Владислав Сухорученков well it is a learning game. The patrol phase in most of the videos last 30 seconds.
beautiful BR now I have understood most of the rules. unfortunately my english is not so good
Jens Kiesewetter check out the Tabletop Generals channel. They do chain of command in German.
Tabletop CP i now the table top Generals. It is a super Chanel 👍🏻
