    Glad to see Tandy getting a quality entry level but pro quality machine. Sailrite makes GREAT machines that are built like tanks. You should dump the Tippmann Boss.

    I have watched both videos, and I am very tempted however, can Tandy supply a guide fence that’s adjustable and fixed to the body of the machine to help when straight lines of fine stitches are needed?

      I use a stitch guide with neodymium magnets on the bottom. You are not going to knock one of those out of alignment. The higher quality magnetic stitch guides are usually $20-30...they are worlds apart from the cheapo versions at your local hobby or fabric store.

      Sailrite has a big honking magnetic guide that is good.

    looks like a great machinebut it can only sew about 8 - 10 oz, and i make holsters and use 2 - 8 oz leather (16 oz total) so even though this machine is made to look great its not for me.
    Great video though.

      My wife just bought it for me... Salesperson told her it would only sew around 9 oz... The manual says it will handle 16 oz. So far it seems to live up to that claim... I sewed a bison leather bag with suede liner and when I sewed the seams to assemble the bag it worked fine. Very pleased thus far.

    A nice outfit, but the Rex Sewing machine, which can be bought in the States for $300, is the same machine without the badge and color change and Sailrite tuning. But if you've got $1,400 to blow and want to pay the extra $1,100 for the razzmatazz, go for it. My point is that the Rex, with some common sense tuning, allows a lot more sewers get into a practical small walking foot machine.

    • @AndTheCorrectAnswerIs
      @AndTheCorrectAnswerIs 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The REX machines are NOT finished to anywhere near the quality level of the Sailrite machines. I have used both, and as I mentioned in a previous comment, the stitchmaster has a LOT more features and add-ons than even the base model Sailrite which sells for $795.

    • @3000waterman
      @3000waterman 5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Well, as I said, if you can easily afford to pay over 4 x the price for the same machine (but without the fettling and tuning) then that's fine. The upside - all the profits from the upgrades stay in the States. But let's not kid anyone: the Rex machine sells for about $300 (retail), so it probably lands from China at about $200. Sailrite/Tandy do a lot of good work and add some bits, and sell at $1400. I'm not saying don't buy the expensive version, I'm simply saying if you cannot afford $1400 you can buy the same basic machine for $300 and after tuning and adding/changing some components you can have a fine alternative (with a new servo motor) for, let's say, $500. I say again, if you're not a bit practical and can blow $1400 without being divorced, call Tandy or Sailrite.

      i have a rex and can get a 8mm length stitch out of it and have sewn 207 thread top stitch with 135-17-24 needle i paid less than 275. for my rex 4 yrs ago they have gone up fast. i also have zig zag i made a table and installed a servo motor absolutely great i have may be 400 in it .if i were to spend this kind of money for the stitch i would get a consew 205 or 206 with servo then you are fixed for life.

    That presser foot is chewing up the surface of the hide. No way am I going to deliver a piece to a client with those nasty gouges. If I wanted that I would buy one of the knock off cobbler machines from China. Also this is seems to work fine on a flat surface not much use to those of us who need to get both deep and tight.

    • @UriValdez
      @UriValdez 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thats exactly what I was thinking, the presser foot has teeth and im sure it will leave marks all over the place. I make designer bags and wallets, theres no way im going to have any marks on my leather. Im going with techsew.
