@lts14fan45 oh how I love to cook and bake. I just can't do it any more. I cut and dice all my veggies sitting, and get everything ready in shifts. Getting old and disabled is not very pleasant. I am going to have a Hip Replacement Surgery after the first of the year, I am hoping with Physical Theapy I will be more Mobile.
Master Carve Ham from Costco is one of the best hams you can buy, lean and not so salty excellent product. My mother in law used seven up, on the ham, to sweeten the ham and this assists in removing salt.
Catherine that's pretty much the way we make our Christmas Ham also . It is definitely delicious. Thank you Catherine and Thomas. Happy Holidays to everyone!!
Looks so scrumptious! Both beautiful and delicious at the same time. So easy and extremely time saving. Leaves the oven free for all the side dishes and a turkey.👍😋🍖🍒🍍
That looks good. I do have a spiral ham in my freezer. It is big! I do not know if the ham will fit in my crockpot. The crockpot version seems easier! You left Thomas speechless haha.
This looks amazing Catherine!😍 We had ham all the time when I was growing up! Often with the pineapple and cherries on it. Turkey was usually for Thanksgiving and ham was for Christmas! My sister and I have been going to one of our favorite places for Thanksgiving the past few years. They have turkey and/or ham, dressing, green beans and mashed potatoes. It's wonderful and no one has to stand for hours in the kitchen. My sister gets turkey and I get ham and my plate usually lasts for 3 meals. I love ham! There's so much you can do with it! Now you have my mouth watering for ham!🤤 I could eat it right now!😋 Thanks for sharing another great recipe!🥰
WOW! Our youngest son and son-in-law won't touch ham. This might just tempt them to try it. It looks so good and juicy. I am so ready for the holidays!
I have been thinking about cooking my ham in the crockpot this year and was going to start looking for recipes. Catherine…you are like Google and Facebook. I think it and then you post it!! Lol 😂❤ Wishing you the best! Happy holidays! And Thank you! ❤️❤️❤️
This looks very good. I might try it for Christmas. I make mine kind of the same way, without the brown sugar mustard and cherries. I use cloves and pineapple, I make a basting sauce using pineapple juice coke and brown sugar. I think I will make it your way and put my green bean casserole in the oven this year. Thank you. This honesty looks delicious ❤
Pretty ham. I especially like the way you carved it side to side. Id like to try that brand. I would still have to pick up a bone in ham bean doup is a must😊. Thank you.
I already have my ham, cherries, and pineapple! This is such a great idea, and now I have room for my turkey. Yes, I'm one of those who have to cater to the whole family, so I have a ham AND a turkey. LOL
Cooked entire Christmas dinner once in slow cooker, microwave, waffle iron and electric skillet because gas company forgot to fill our LP tank while we was out of town.
Thanks so much for this video! I am plant based, my family is not. And I am challenged cooking meat dishes that are edible, lol. My family will thank you!
Yes, ham is good cooked in a slow cooker🤗 I like to put pineapple slices & maraschino cherries on mine too. I also stick whole cloves in the scored cuts…very good. Was this ham precooked? I like to get a ham that requires cooking (not country ham but raw) but I have trouble finding one. Most all hams are already cooked. The best part of fixing a turkey & ham are the sandwiches the next day❤👀😍😋
Catherine, I'm a beginner,I got 7qt. crock pot 2 months ago but it didn't come with a cook book. so my question is do I have to use soda? will water work and can I put potatoes and carrots in the pot also I also heard if your meat is pink it's not cooked so ham is pink, I know I sound dumb but you do make it look easy and I thank you, clueless in Boston
The ham I used is precooked all you're doing is heating it through, just make sure you get a precooked ham. You don't have to use coke you can use water you can put potatoes and carrots on the bottom of the ham, but they will take a while to cook if they are too big.
@@CatherinesPlates thank you so much, This will be my 1st,meal in a crockpot, ,I feel much more confident knowing the Ham is already cooked..,sending love.[I might even buy an apron]
Ok, me again with a couple more questions. Again, im a novice at cooking! Im definitely making this for Christmas dinner. Question 1) Can you eat the pineapples or were they just for flavor? Question 2) What about cherries?? Throw them away or eat them?
Speaking from experience here I just tried this today in fact. I also follow simply Mama cooks and she uses mustard honey and ground cinnamon. I tried a little bit of a French Dijon mustard but didn't dig the taste and it tasted good using just the honey and ground cinnamon. This other lady has a 7 lb pound but I have a 4 lb ham just like Catherine's so next time I'd reduce the honey to 1/2 cup and try 1/4 tsp of cinnamon. You can always taste test it and add more cinnamon if you like. This lady also rinsed her ham off and patted it dry with a paper towel. She said the glaze would adhere better to the ham that way. I plan to score mine like Catherine did and this year I got whole cloves to put in my ham but Simply Mama cooks mentions that for a spiced ham you can add ground cloves and ground cinnamon to the brown sugar if you don't want to use the whole cloves. I might try that next year. So after scoring the ham and sticking in my whole cloves I'm going to put the ham in the slow cooker and then pour about 6 oz of pineapple and maraschino juice around the sides of the ham. I don't have any coke. Catherine said it was an 8 oz bottle of coke but it looked like she only used about 6 oz of it so that's where I'm getting the 6 oz from. Then I'm going to pour the honey/cinnamon glaze over the top of my ham. Then I'm going to mix some more ground cinnamon into the brown sugar and sprinkle it over the glaze. Them I'm going to place the pineapple rings and maraschino cherries with toothpicks on the ham. I love pineapple and maraschino cherries so I'm going to use a whole can of pineapple rings and a whole small jar of maraschino cherries. I will just put the extra pineapple and cherries around the sides of the ham so I can have extra. Then I will cook it on low for the 3-5 hr time. Just a little tip about the honey. I once tasted clover honey and it was awful. I used busy bee US grade A honey and it was really good mixed with the cinnamon. I hope this helps I didn't see this video till today I was looking for crockpot cook times for a 4 lb ham! Happy Thanksgiving 🦃
Don't make fun of me. I don't cook much but this looks easy enough. I have a few questions... 1) Is that ham pre cooked? 2) Can you eat the juice at the bottom? 3) I don't have a thermometer to tell the internal degrees. Now what? Thank you
@CatherinesPlates Omgoodness, thank you so much! You got right to the point with each question I asked. I'm making this for Thanksgiving because I love ham and not a fan of turkey. You rock!
Catherine I have a question about something. Why do people put pineapple slices on the ham? Is there another fruit that does the same thing, because I'm seriously allergic to pineapples (I swell up and everything)
No matter what you cook, you'll never go wrong with a ham.
I like that slow cooker idea. Happy holidays.
That looks so easy! Thanks for the tip on using the slow cooker! I love those Costco hams, too!
This looks delicious
Happy thanksgiving you two
This is my kind of cooking. I have Arthritis so bad it is hard for me to stand and do a lot of cooking. Thanks for this recipe!!
This is the only way I cook my ham...
You are so welcome.
I do as well!! It is hard to stand for very long.

Didn't see the recipe on your blog. Looks delicious.
It's on my blog now.

Great idea! With so much in the oven on Thanksgiving this would work out great! We make a turkey and a ham. Now I can do both at home.
Looks amazing 😋😋😋

Very nice, don't let things get in the way of Christmas.

Thank you so much Catherine for sharing this recipe. My hubby does not like turkey! 🦃
You are so welcome!
I've got that ham before too and it's really good. In the same section next to the ham is the turkey and I wasn't impressed.
I never used coke on my ham just used pineapple and the juice. Than I made gravy with the juice.
Yummy
😋
Hey Catherine. I love your recipes. Do you have one for candied fresh sweet potatoes
No, I don't have a recipe for that yet.

You can eat both the pineapple and the cherries if you wish.
i wonder if you could do a crock pot turkey...
I have done a Turkey ,it was tender
It depends on the size of the crockpot and the turkey. I'm sure a turkey breast would fit.
You can do a turkey in the crockpot as long as the turkey fits. I would recommend a Turkey breast.
😋😋😋😋😋😋😋

BUT CATHRINE I HATE MUSTARD CAN I EXCHANGE IT FOR MILD HONEY BQ SAUCE? OR CAN YOU SUGGEST SOMETHING ELSE
You don't have to include the mustard at all, and it will still be yummy.

Yes it’s precooked. The juice is delicious. The time in the directions should be fine for the size of ham that I used.

Correct, it is boneless.

LOL! He spoils me and I spoil him, it's what we do.
