    Welcome to the club Matt. There is a Drak Owners Group on Facebook and we would welcome your input. I am absolutely loving my Drak. I added the new (longer) set of vertical stabilizers that Chris sells. They improve the stall characteristics even more and make the craft an absolute dream to fly. Congratulations on the maiden btw and for all you guys do for us at RCGroups. :)

    Nice review. I have 3 long range rigs that have been gathering dust since the beginning of the year when I discovered mini quad racing. My ZII gets the least airtime and thinking about salvaging parts and building this Drak. Really great setup.

    Very curious about your VTX antenna. I hate my giant mushroom antenna. Very expensive to replace if gets smashed. I am curious what your groundstation consists of, where you got your components, and what your range and signal are like. :)

    Impressive. You really have to watch out with hand launching it I see. I wonder if you might be able to gently sling it out there side arm by one wing like they do with hand-launching those flying wing planes? Also, to help it fly slower, might you be able to add vortex generators along the leading edges of the wings? Lastly, some kind of landing gear? If not some sacrificial skids underneath the fuselage and under the outer wing tips?

    Hi Matt, what is the AUW with the 5S 8k mAh pack? That is a lot of amp draw on launch.

      same question here :)

      The all up weight with the LiPo is 7 lbs exactly. 69 amps isn't bad for the launch with that motor and 85 amp esc, as soon as it's airborne, the amps drop to the mid 50's at wide open throttle.

    Great Review!!! Can you tell me where I can find 4 strand wire so i too can run my Vtx out to the wing tip? Video/Audio/PWR/Gnd. Is that a ferrite ring the vTX wire is wrapped around?

      Google "model train hookup wire". It's 4-conductor wire and works great! Yes, I put a ferrite ring near the vtx for additional filtering.

      Just use shielded USB cable, or twisted pair Cat5 ethernet cable.

    The drak seems a little similar to the drongo. How about to make the drag swiming? To have a nice FPV wing that can start and landing almost everywhere, like the polaris. I'm searching for such a plane / wing, that I can use as fpv long range & to land & start it on water, gras etc.

    HI i like all your video and Chris made a very good job with all ritewing but i love the Drak...
    Do you think possible to fly one hour with a 10000 mah?

    Notice how he is holding it while narrating prior to launch, which is by the side of the fuselage not the top. This is how I recommend you launch it. Grab it by the side and sling it side arm style. I guarantee you will generate much more velocity this way than holding it by the top of the fuse (and depending on your hand size you may have trouble holding it by the top) and you will have a greater success rate. There has been much debate about the launching of this especially across the street on the other site. Do yourself a favor and give it some initial forward velocity.

    I can't wait for the Drak Mini to come out! The full size Drak wasn't for me.

    Not, I'm thinking, a the ideal airplane for a beginner? I'm retired cockpit, and looking at getting into RC - FPV. What might you recommend for a quality entry-level set-up? Great video!! Thanks!

      @rcgvideos  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Bixler 2 or 3 is great for a beginner getting into FPV. This is a hot and heavy plane indeed. And while it's easy to launch and fly for someone with some stick time, I wouldn't recommend it for a first plane.

    Will it thermal? How does it slope soar?

    • @rcgvideos
      @rcgvideos  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Negative on thermal, but sloping works pretty good

    Put an occusync FPV system in this thing and you'll have an awesome platform.
