I’ve never considered manipulating shapes instead of drawing each one with pen tool. I love your time-saving techniques with graphic styles and symbols. Thanks!
I guess Im asking the wrong place but does anyone know of a tool to log back into an instagram account? I stupidly lost my password. I love any assistance you can give me
This is by far the BEST tutorial to draw flat fashion sketches on Illustrator! I was struggling so much to understand how to do these. I've watched videos, read books, but nothing helped me! Thank you so much!! ❤❤❤
I’ve been studying fashion for three years, there are some tips and tricks in here which I never knew! Thanks so much Zoe and Robin! Adobe will continue to think of everything hahaha
Hey Simon, I love that you are studying fashion, are you enjoying it so far? I remember those loooong days in fashion school very well 😅 I have been working as a professional fashion designer for 14 years now and I share my fashion secrets on my channel so you're welcome to check it out. Have an amazing day! Love T
Thank you very much, Professor Hong and Lecturer Schneider, for the informative video. I appreciate the technique of building the flat using complete pieces that can be managed separately as necessary. Thank you both for being great teachers and for your generosity.
This is super cool. I just graduated with my BFA in graphic design, (ie. I use illustrator a lot) and you've taught me some things that I wasn't familiar with. I can't wait to get back into clothing designing. I did my own tech packs for a clothing line I created.
You are such an amazing teacher 😭😭😭❤ cannot thank you enough! I've been struggling with pen tool for months! For Monthssss! And you! Just appeared like magic 😭❤I'm so so so soooooo grateful I came across your channel and you specifically!!!! 💜💜💜💜
We use Illustrator at work. We taught ourselves but never learned how to use layers. We use the pen tool for lines and line-curves and it’s very time consuming. Layers seem so much easier! Can’t believe over 20 years later I’m just now exploring this option! I’m now retired but working remotely. Oh and now I know what the “v” thingy is for😃

Hello! Firstly thanks a lot for providing great free content! The lecture+demonstration was very clear and easy to follow even for an Illustrator beginner as me. I have two questions: 1- is there a specific reason for mirroring every piece as the process goes, instead of drawing one complete half and mirroring it at the end? 2- how do you control scale on flats? I understand buttons and simple shapes, but I’m curious about more complex and 3D geometries such as the collar pieces. Thanks again for the great content :)
I learned a lot -- and I don't even own Illustrator - seriously considering it as a growing old gift to myself. As a sewing nerd, may I ask why the collar stand was not added? Even though not much of it would be visible, I was missing it showing at the top center front where the first button is.
Thank you, Zoe and Robin, for putting up a highly informative video on fashion flat drawing. You guys really made highly intimidating process into a really fun process. Highly recommended video. Thumbs up.
The back collar part is worth it alone 5:26, pathfinder is great buuut this is better - this video taught me so much more than individual videos on different tool functions! Thank you :X Literally, I'm so OCD I might make a list of all the tool lessons she taught in this video. lol
This is super helpful thank you both! Just purchased your men’s templates along with the design books you recommended in your prior videos. Looking forward to trying this!
wow reallllyyy useful! loved this tutorial and learned a lot of tricks! even though I learn AI In school, but these useful tricks will absolutely help and speed up my work! thank you so much!
Thank you Zoe! Your videos are always better and showing more efficient ways to work compare what I’m learning in fashion school. Lol 😂 dead truth! Wish you are my teacher! 😞
how do you use the convert anchor point tool to curve the line? i've tried this and I can't seem to get it to work, I have cs6. do I need a newer version?
Choose the Anchor Point Tool (the upside down V shape next to the pen tools), and just click on the line you want to curve and pull it out. Another way to create curved lines is to click on one of the anchor points and pull out to one of the sides. You will see two arms coming out from the anchor point and you can use these to adjust the curve 😀 Love T
@@auroracortez2022 In order to create a curved line there are two ways of doing this: When you use the pen tool you click and make an anchor point where you would like to start. When you add your second anchor point you click and drag and you will see that the line you just created curves as you move your mouse. The two arms that come out from the newly created anchor point are there for you to pull and adjust the curve as you would like. The other way to create a curve is to use the Anchor Point Tool, (the upside down V shape next to the pen tool. If you don't see this you may need to click on the small arrow at the corner or side of the pen tool symbol). When you used this tool you can click on any anchor point and simpply drag it to curve the line. The two arms will appear from the anchor point and you can pull and move these around to adjust the curve. Love T
Can you pls make a video, how how cutting pattern will be adjust in the fabric. Mean marker(stitches) of a shirt how much fabric actually take from fabric say in 2 meters fabric?
I find it so useful ! I never got cad in design school so I leaned on flat pattern making but even so it was hard to find a job that didn't require this. I'm good at doing flats by hand using french curve. I feel I was cheated at that school who did not prepare creatives for the real world. I'm still in love with this process what do you recommend for someone who's been out of touch for more than a decade?
The stitching part is confusing--if you copy and paste the bodice and then paste in front, when you go and make the line dashed (i.e. stitches) it then changes the whole outline of the bodice to dashed lines. How are you able to only make the hem dashed?
Now I am wondering what the "basics" are meant to be if these Bézier-Basics weren't it. Also why not a vector based template, path snapping makes things so much easier.
I have desktop was this video done on apple. Can you do this video again. I tried it but because this was video was done 3 years ago. it did not work. please
@@RobinSchneider , I would usually merge all shapes in one layer and outline it, move this layer back. But to make it with one click! I guess I need to learn about graphic styles a bit more. Thank you for the trick :)

Totally agree!
12 hours of CAD classes in uni was nothing compared to this thank you
