The sound of a throat being cleared at 8:30 amidst an awkwardly silent room that should be laughing is a perfect comedy sound. It made me laugh harder than anything in the actual preshow.
The hallways and holding areas are just like NBC in New York City! I've been on the NBC Studio Tour twice and have been to tapings of Fallon & Meyers' shows - they definitely did really well with the queue areas!

Thank you for posting this. The queue is very impressive. It's been many years since I last visited 30 Rockefeller but watching this was like being there again. I loved, loved, loved the mini museum of the history of the Tonight Show. Seeing Johnny Carson displayed at the height of all his glory brought tears to my eyes. ❤❤

Nothing says universal like an amazingly themed facade with a massive show building sticking out like a sore thumb behind it
Nick Pelayo This was the whole point of Universal Studios. They wanted it to be a working movie set and have the feel of a true backlot and film studio. They want you to see the show buildings. They do this less now, but it is still the point on many things.
Anthony Robison haha don't buy that stuff, if that were true why aren't the show buildings for Diagon Alley showing. Universal is cheap... hence all of their screen rides
The HP project was the first time they went with that direction at the US park and they fell in love with the idea. That is when they began retheming items like the Simpsons ride/Springfield to make them more emersive like the Disney parks. They must have decided to meet in the middle here.
Anthony Robison I would like to agree with you but they're still too reliant on screens its just so obvious and at this point a new ride doesn't even feel special anymore. I mean look at 2018, they're Fast and Furious Ride.... more screens.

my theroy is there the cheapest ride type to make but the upcoming fast and furious ride building is getting massive and it aint fished yet and sims use small buildings so there's hope for that

Are you aware how small the old Twister building is? Couple that with Rip Ride Rocket's track literally going right next to it and it's clear that there was no space for innovation.

I'm so glad they actually remembered to include Leno considering how scarce it is to try and find anything related to Leno's run of the show apart from interviews, seriously....I swear NBC tries to pretend that anything related to Jay doesn't exist (apart from Jay's Garage that is)
You cannot get more corporate and shallow than a ride based on an NBC late night talk show....

Universal's version of soarin over california
Wow. The auditorium for the ride is huge. And I guess the steps can move, making each row able to move on their own. This is massive! And to experience something like this with a huge audience is different than a simulator like Star Tours.
Though it reminds me a lot of the ride technology of Despicable Me. Is it really the same kind of experience?

Must say - we we're not enthused at all about this ride but that queue experience looks kinda cool.
Surprised they would invest in a personality for a ride experience... lets hope he doesn't leave or get dropped by NBC.
Living The Dream they did it with Ellen in Disney that's a pretty decent ride
I think I would like this ride I wish they put the David Letterman years on there too because after Carson retired it was Letterman's turn

I'm still baffled why Fallon got his own ride but Conan, Kimmel, and Corden are better comedy hosts.

just rode. it. was very cool how they do the no line. crowd. movement.
Geez all the negative comments. I went and loved it. Sure, if you're a repeat rider the show could be tedious, but the quartet was fun and it's better than sitting, I think. Would it be better if you could go straight to the ride? I mean, sure, but then the whole "Fallon" thing is kinda gone. I guess you could just keep the tour BEFORE the show, with the antique stuff, but....Anyyyway, aside from the queue, I actually really liked the ride as well. 4-D can bother me if not done well, (I hate when you can tell you're just sitting there) but the first time I rode I was in the middle/back half of the seats and everything felt realistic, plus it was super-fun. Unpopular opinion, I know, but would I go back? YES.
So this is going to be similar to Disney's Soarin in a way being that you will be racing around the world with Jimmy Fallon smelling things, as scents gets put out during the theater. It will also of course move as well.
That part is similar but you aren't lifted into the air like Soarin'. You sit in a motion theater like Star Tours.

This actually looks cool, even though Universal has like FIVE 3D screen-based rides, they should cut down on the simulators.

It's like the seating of Star Tours, or a traditional theater seating. But the screen is much bigger than Star Tours. The ride is a simulator like Despicable Me, but more immersive.

For all you guys complaining about this ride simulator. Universal still has the Wizarding world of Harry Potter, and amazing dark rides with actual in door coasters and amazing physical and screen elements. What's Disney Orlando got? Nothing yet.
ARVIN Disney Orlando is making a tron ride (rollercoaster) a outdoor rollercoaster based off of toy story and Harry Potter will soon only have one ride that's not a simulator and it has a height maximum

It replaced twister. Disaster will be replaced by Fast and the Furious when it opens next year.
Why does it get so much hate I'm only 11 and I like this ride I watched twister ride it out when I was like 6 but this ride is pretty good though

This one and minions are the same (could even throw Simpsons into the mix as being the same).
Transformers and Spiderman are the same.
Terminator & Shrek.
Revenge of the Mummy & Escape from Gringotts.
Rip Ride Rocket & The Hulk.
Jurassic Park & Ripsaw Falls.
Same rides, different animation to look at. Getting a bit predictable from Universal now, in my opinion.

Yeesh. What a bunch of Negative Nellies. Give the ride a chance before you jump to conclusions. I rode this with my family last month and guess what? It was ... FUN! "Family" is the key word here as everyone - excluding those prone to dizziness or motion sickness - can ride.
1. Yes, "Race Through New York ..." replaced "Twister". I'll tread lightly here, seeing as there are some "Twister" fans in the comments. While I didn't hate "Twister", I felt that it could have been so much more if only it was re-tweaked. While "Race Through New York ..." might not be the best solution, it is an updated/current "solution" nonetheless. Universal tends to go with what is "in" and at the time of the ride's conception, Fallon was "in" in a major way. Like the ride (and Fallon) as I do, I have a feeling that it won't be a permanent fixture.
2. Yes, "Race Through New York ..." is a motion simulator.
Do not expect otherwise. You will accelerate, climb, drop, spin, etc., but all these effects will be simulated. You can still feel nauseous and dizzy.
And for those of you who have never been to Universal Studios Orlando, motion simulator rides are the norm (Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey, Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts, The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man, The Transformers, The Simpsons, etc.). Motion Simulators can be a blessing for us Ride Winps who cannot handle the real thing.
3. Yes, the pre-show can be funny ... If you like Jimmy Fallon's comedy. I am in no way comparing Jimmy to Conan, Jay, Johnny, or Jack, but I happen to find him (sometimes) humorous.
4. I don't want to sound the Corn Horn, but the doubters should give the "ride" at least one chance. Don't judge a book by its cover, and all that jazz.

What are they going to do, take out E.T. next and replace it with another terrible simulation ride? Getting really tired of all the laziness universal is putting into the actual ride itself and not the waiting areas. Sad to see the downfall of universal.

Really. You replace one of the most popular rides (twister) with this. How is Jimmy Fallon a ride!?! Does that make sense? Not a very good choice and when my parents went on twister, they loved it. Honestly, I think you should bring twister back other than this
