Jeff’s soul sang this. Hard to put into words how it makes me feel - touches me to my core. So many people sing this song and sing it beautifully but it isn’t channeled from their soul.
🇬🇧 First time ive heard this version. But i love his voice, this is my favourite version cos he made me cry, and now i see that hes not with us anymore. So sad, im sure he is loved & missed, much. ❤💔🎶🎼😢
I get tears in my eyes every time I hear Jeff Buckley sing this, but tears don't always mean sadness. There is a poignant sadness to his delivery of course, but for me it's the beauty of it .Sometimes something is just so beautiful it makes me cry out of happiness and appreciation that it exists. Thank you so much. 😊✌❤
Personally this is yhe best version. Whilst not the original it was the first version i ever heard. His voice is amazing and I still get upset that we will never hear him sing again even after all these years. Thank you for this.
Being a guitar player, the most impressive thing for me on this track is the tone of that Fender Telecaster. His guitar sounds like church bells. So clean, and crisp a tone. His amplifier is amazing. Plus he is so soulful and emotive. He sells the song. His father was also a folk singer who had a tragic end as well.
Jeff was very troubled, and that came through in his voice. Many highly personable performers are tragically affected emotionally, and that real strife comes through with the music.
There are many versions of this song that are done beautifully- it's simply a beautiful song. But there is something about Buckley's version that is so intimate and personal that sets it apart. It is special.
Beautiful...thank you. ❤ College love introduced me to him, Nick Drake, and the Indigo Girls. She has/had great taste in music. Loved the album Grace. "Lover come over" is tasty. My thanks to you both. You two are heartwarming.
He was an emotive artist, so many versions of this that are great but definitely distinctive. Buckley, Nick Cave, KD Lang has a couple of course Leonard Cohen . It’s the interpretation that makes it magic
I love your reactions. I'm here for Ren's reactions and loving them so far. I came across this one and had to watch because Jeff Buckley is timeless and I love his music. Something you may not know, Ren is completely self taught from TH-cam videos including his singing. There's a reactor on TH-cam called Chris Lieppe, he's a vocal coach and he did an episode on breaking down Jeff Buckley 's vocals. Anyway Ren mentioned in an interview that he watched that tutorial and based a lot of his singing style on Jeff Buckley. They both are proper singers who sing with passion and emotion, which is why I think you connect so deeply.
@@MerchantOfAlbawell the story goes further. After Ren released Hi Ren and Jenny and Screech the TH-cam community popped of, so much so that I think I can safely say that Ren is one of the most reacted to artists on TH-cam. Ren himself then went on the rounds watching some of the reactions and left nice little comments on the ones he enjoyed. Ren then contacted some of these reactors and actually done interviews with some of them and Chris Liepe was one of these interviews, it's funny how things go full circle. Ren did 4 or 5 interviews with reactors, other reactor interviews include, with Black Pegasus a rapper, podcaster who's done about 65 Ren reactions. Knox Hill rapper lyrics analyst. Justin Hawkins of the Darkness, amongst others. Ren wanted to do a range of interviews that came from very different angles ie... Musician, rapper vocal analyst etc... I think it would be a. Fantastic idea to react to some interviews maybe the shorter ones. You guys are the best reactors I've come across and I've watched hundreds of reactions.
Nice to explore different versions and you mentioned Lucy Thomas's version, you reacted to her first version, when she was 16, she has a newer version out, recorded at her concert live in Manchester in March of 2024 and it is a STUNNING version you need to check out !!! Better than the first as Lucys voice is more mature, more music in it !!!!
Having been a fan for a long time and read just about everything there is to read about him and his music, I recall that either the sound engineer or producer wanted a live recording of this song (you'll notice the intro is a lot longer and free-form) so this studio was set up to record it, and make a video. The story is that Buckley came in, picked up his guitar and started playing. This is that version, the first take. He was about to do another and the producer said no, it couldn't be done better. The song we're hearing was him "warming up". The visuals are from that first play through and pieces from the rest of his visit, I believe he played a couple of other songs and just jammed for a while. I could honestly read about people's experiences with him forever. I wish more people wrote that kind of stuff down.
You must play the father, the guy I saw many times in Greenwich Village in early 70’s,Tim Buckley…he was Canadian and very folksy different..my 2 favorites are Strange Feeling and Buzzin Fly..please play
Jeff Buckley is one of the best of all time. Do more Jeff!!!! Try the song "grace" from the British tv show live. It's so so good. Also "lover you should have come over" he is one of the best of all time
Good version. You need to check out the whole "Grace" album. Brilliant. Best Buckley song IMO is "Lover, You Should've Come Over." Breathtaking, musically and lyrically. Only listen to the album/studio version!
Thank you for reacting to this amazing song. I’m wondering if the two of you have ever reacted to a Cappella music ( sung without musical instruments). I highly recommend the official video version done by Pentatonix. They are THE premier a Cappella group, with five Grammy nominations and three wins.
Hello and thank you for your message. We have done Pentatonix, many songs. Were stunned when heard them for the first time. Please search in our videos. ☺️
John Cale's version is best of all. I hope you react to it. This version never hit home with me, but I know I'm the minority. There's an amazing documentary on writing the song too I think on Netflix or Amazon. There's so many more verses Cohen wrote that didn't make the final recordings. I'm glad to see you exploring different versions.
Hey there. Yes, we are considering it as getting a lot of requests for movies review. But at this time, it's not possible due to lack of time and other commitments. Hoping soon it'll change. Many thanks 💚
Great reaction! I've always loved this version. Jeff's voice is so raw & vulnerable. Music is subdued & peaceful. If you want 'another' beautiful version to add to your list of covers of this masterwork by Leonard Cohen (RIP), another Canadian, kd Lang did a live performance for our 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, opening ceremony - and it's nothing short of perfection: th-cam.com/video/tcOQSk_cMO0/w-d-xo.html Cheers from Canada, eh!
The versions of this song by LEONARD COHEN are all interesting... but none have the height and depth of its author's interpretation. And what about COHEN’s voice which enhances the lyrics. It would be interesting to offer your viewers LEONARD COHEN's version, so that they realize how much more touching, more emotional this one is. Thanks.
Everybody has their favorite version, but to me this is the best one. Jeff sings it as if he lived it. Gone far too soon.
Totally the best version
Jeff Buckley’s version of this amazing song can be summed up with one word. Masterpiece.
It’s like he’s wrenching this from his soul , very powerful.
It is about a cry to help to God. No one ever performed it better than Jeff Buckley.
RIP Jeff Buckley.
His version always gives me goosebumps, such a wonderful artist sadly missed.
Jeff’s soul sang this. Hard to put into words how it makes me feel - touches me to my core. So many people sing this song and sing it beautifully but it isn’t channeled from their soul.
How can anyone not like this song?....whatever version,..its wonderous and beautiful.
There are so many good versions of this song. Jeff’s is so raw and filled with sadness. Just love it. Thx guys

Pure beauty. The voice of an angel.
I love you guys ; My favorite song reaction people by far; intelligent, heartfelt, human! ❤🎶
Much love 💚😊

Best version
Excellent reaction. Jeff was such a terrible loss. ❤️
My favorite version. Just a beautiful performance, sung so perfectly.

My favorite. Your soul feels every minor fall and each major lift. Close second would be KD Lang live from the Juno awards.
written by leonard cohen. you should listen to him sing it.
I've never really been ab;e to quantify why I love Jeff's music. I think it comes down to authenticity. And the voice haha.
Beautiful...thank you. ❤
College love introduced me to him, Nick Drake, and the Indigo Girls. She has/had great taste in music. Loved the album Grace. "Lover come over" is tasty. My thanks to you both. You two are heartwarming.
"Tasty". Good word to describe it
There are many covers of this song, this version is the only cover that shows, protects and embellishes the art in the original.
Thank you!
So beautiful. Just like Jeff Buckley. My fave version.
Tears. More tears.
He left this world too soon.
He plucks the guitar strings and your heart.
I wanted to hear your reaction to this heart wrenching song. Thank you.
A wonderful song beautifully performed. ☮💛🎶
Love your guys reactions...my man feeling the love 😊
Excellent taste in music! Jeff Buckley is undeniably a genius.
He was musical genius.
My favorite version ❤
This is my favorite version of this song, of which there are many. Absolutely beautiful version of a beautiful song.
He was an emotive artist, so many versions of this that are great but definitely distinctive. Buckley, Nick Cave, KD Lang has a couple of course Leonard Cohen . It’s the interpretation that makes it magic
This is the best version!
KD Lang's version is the very best that I've heard. Please listen. Live at the Juno awards!!
Nah
@@chrislind57 I said the best that I'VE HEARD. How you gonna say nah? Everyone is different and have different tastes🙄
Hers is a production but it’s my favorite. His is so simple and real.

Wow my fav reactors reacting to my fav artist. Thanks!
One of my favourite as well 💚
The best and one of earliest to cover the magnificent L Cohen song. Check out his father Tim, amazing artist.

I love this version, but I will always have a soft spot for Leonard Cohen's version
My favorite is from Bon Jovi. It’s a great song.
Check out Jeff Buckley cover Dylan's 'Mama, You've Been On My Mind'. Trust me, you will love it.
Easily one of my favourites along with Just like a women, any Bob Dylan cover he did was a masterpiece
Lots of good versions of this song. My Fav is by John Cale, which is the version in Shrek.
KD Lang sang this beautifully at the Olympics in Canada.
I want to be Andrei when I grow up.
Can you review the kinks,Death of a Clown.Brilliant.
You should've listened to the album's version of Hallelujah!!

My favorite version is the original from Leonard Cohen. He wrote this song. He is just amazing.

John Cale's version is best of all. I hope you react to it. This version never hit home with me, but I know I'm the minority.
