Ground prep for wheat is looking great. I really enjoy all of your old tractors because of the extras that you put with them all. From wheel weights to front weights to just making small up grades like the Christmas tree on the Ms and the nice complete tractors that you have. Thanks Roger and great video as always
Roger, love the old school farming, we do a bit as well. If the noise you refer to sounded like a small explosion in the crankcase, not a pop or loud snap, Likely it was fuel dillution into the crankcase that ignited when it warmed up. All those Deere horizontal 2 cylinder tractors were prone to that. The carb can leak into the manifold while sitting, it then sits in the bore and seeps past the rings. That why the later number series tractors had the safety shut off in the fuel line, oil pressure opens the gas line when first startup. That valve may need service. I've seen them get so bad that the crankcase cover gets blown off the engine!
I was 8 years old when I ran my dad's 630. Plowed, disc,pulled a baler. Good tractors. The drivetrain had distinct sound. Thanks for sharing.
She's a sweet old girl. I remember them well. I'm 79 and ran a lot of John Deere tractors.
