Roger, which engine is on this unit please?
According to the manual it’s a John Deere 59hp 4 cylinder gas engine, model HA 180-G.
Love that set up
Thank you Roger I love seeing that 730 doing her thing. That tractor is 64 years old and still reliable and economical. You take care and keep on doing what you do!
My local used equipment dealer has one in good shape he wants 1500 dollars for it is that good or a bad price?
Great price for tractor.
Can't you shut off the pto before you get off the tractor?
Yes. But you exit from the front away from the pto so you’re not endangered. I would normally shut the pto off but for videos I let it run so you can see and hear the picker sheller running.
Just maybe a helpful tip,I have been told many years ago by some old farmers not to broadcast fertilizer to put it in the row don't fertilize the weeds just the crop..I had a Oliver 77 row crop but iI moved and my wife at the time said we moved to far away and I didn't need it , ok she thought it was to old and I now don't have a place to keep it so I gave it to my best friend and he will take care of it.
Love it , brings back great memories. We still have a 694AN jd planter hasn't been used for sometime .
Hope to be there!
Thanks again for the great video. I admire your varied collection of fine tractors and plows but that 730 with the four bottom that’s pretty special
Spent all of my childhood on a oliver and just love the sounds the of the tractor. Ground looks amazing hope you have a great year Roger.
Thanks for your kind words. Olivers were my favorite tractors to operate as a kid. Do you expect to have a plow day this year?
@rogermiller7411 yes we will. It will be October 19th. If you can make it there will be a food truck drinks and desserts. And I have 4 4digit tractors with plows you can try out and have some fun with as well.
Thank you Roger for sharing. The old girl looks good and sounds great!
Looks like a nice day to plant nice looking seedbed. Enjoy, good luck with crop
Great video! Thanks for sharing ....MAY GOD BLESS YOU!!!!
Thanks!
G day When they idle they sound different! Can't explain. Ths
I was raised on a tractor like this and I understand what you are saying but more action please.by the way you can probably pull the disk in 4th gear if you chose to.
We had a 730 and it was a really good tractor, I wish that we had kept it and still used it, our dad taught a lot using these two cylinder tractors, we had an A,G, and the 730, thanks for sharing.
Maybe you can track your 730 down and get it back. Would make a great family story.
Yes slowly Roger thank you I’ve been hauling manure planting, mowing and running the harvester. We’ve had to get a little creative to get me in some of the stuff but I’m gaining
That’s ok do what you do however you want to love the memories that you bring back to me
Let the tractor do the talking.
Thought I did. Some viewers don’t know much about equipment from the 60’s and earlier so I try to educate them.
@@rogermiller7411. Thank you for this video.
Nice 450! Those and the 400's are my favorite out of the FA's.
I used a Farmall 450 diesel a lot when I was a kid. It looked like a big tractor then.
My Dad tried solid seeded soybeans with a drill a few times in the 80s. We normally had 36" row crops. Too many problems with weeds (this was the days before roundup ready seeds). One could only spray for a few specific weeds then and had to drive down some of the crop in the process. So, he gave up on the idea eventually. I remember the family walking the field through the tangled stalks (no rows) to pull weeds a few times too.
My Dad seeded many acres with that same rig.
Enjoy your videos. I think I like to see the old equipment just as much as the old tractors. Thanks for taking the time to make the video.
Glad you like them!
Brings back memories. I found a steel wheeled grain drill much like my father had but haven’t gotten enough done around here to use it yet. As I always say, maybe next year.
Go for it!
Put a t in with value for remote
That two bottom rollover plow that that John Deere 720 was plowing with that’s so you don’t have to lay off a land. You can start on one side of your field and you only have a dead on one side. Could you just work your way across the field alsoif you’re irrigating your field, a lot of farmers will start on the bottom end of the field and throw the dirt back up towards the top in because through irrigation. You gradually washed dirt to the Lori end so they’ll take back to the front and that kind of throws the dirt back up to the upper end.
It’s different looking over your left shoulder when it’s plowing that way.
Please just get on it and let her rip! We love to hear the TRACTOR!
Got one coming when I do that. - after a brief introduction.
Your ground looks good and dry enough to plant. We're still too wet to even drive across the field! I just picked up another M, has all kind of M&W add on, power steering, fenders, live hydraulic system, to name the important ones. Needs tires all around, and the gas tank cleaned out. If I can ever get the crops planted, I'll splurge on a set of tires and get it usable.
Does it have the hand clutch? That would be useful.
@@rogermiller7411 Unfortunately it don't have that. I wasn't going to bid on it as it was stuck when bought, but it had all those niceties, and wasn't too far away. Got it home and pulled the plugs, they looked clean, so I lubed it up and got a big bar on the ring gear. It wasn't very bad, and loosened right up. Just needs new shoes!
Great sounding M. We have two in our collection. The Christmas tree valve is a nice upgrade!
We ran a super M for a lot of years. Road gear really gets you down the road. Love the rig Roger the dirt looks like it is really working up beautifully
That combo of the KBA disk and pulvimulcher saves me a trip over the field. Several of my tractors can pull them.
EXELENTE EQUIPO , HABLAS MUCHO NO SIRVE , SALUDOS .-
No carb on a diesel. Lol
Too much talking.
We pulled a 14' Kewanee heavy duty disk. Usually 5 3/4 mph.
My dad had the same model planter and a 1600 Oliver diesel.
Gpa was a collector, bunch of 30’s and 40’s and then later added a 430, 530 and 730, his 730 has a wide front end tho
The 30 series John Deere was only made for about a year
right at 2 years, 58-59
Another very relaxing video with the reliable 730 diesel. My dad had an AW11 disk I thought it did a very good job. Thank you Roger for another great video
I was using my 12ft RWA this afternoon. Similar disk but with a rigid frame. I opted for the air conditioner in the 5093 instead of a two cylinder because it was pretty hot here today. I don’t really make the two cylinders earn their keep anymore. They have earned their retirement the same as I have.
730 looks great Roger. The only thing that could make that rig better. Is a set of dauls for the tractor. Great video and I can smell the fresh dirt from my place
You have some very nice equipment, but please…when doing a 5 1/2 minute video, don’t spend 4 1/2 minutes talking….just get on the tractor and go….
Great video! Those were wonderful times when these tractors were used everyday. My dad had a VAC.I'm gonna get one myself and put it to work.Never get too many tractors. 4:30
Roger what a beautiful 4 digit oliver. Sounds good looks good and is doing a great job. First time over is definitely rough going. But the dirt is working up great
Ran about half the field and then it started acting like it was running out of gas. Finally died and wouldn’t start. Towed it to the barn with the Super 77. After letting it sit for about 1/2 hour it started, running fine so I put it in its stall. Could be I have dirt in the tank or the caps not venting. I’m going to take the tank off and have it cleaned. I’ve had several tractors with similar problems and it’s usually one of those two things.Any other thoughts appreciated. Thanks for watching.
Love the sound of those olivers
Another great plow day! Great to see the old iron doing a great job and everyone seems to be enjoying themselves especially the youngster on the mighty 730! Nice to see the 730 and the 450 just a going at it. Thank you Roger
Nice combination there Roger and doing a great job! I really enjoy the red on red and the green on green thank you Roger
Are you recovering?
Auction, or just IH get together. Thx
Auction. Brought high prices.
G day I look up tractor data on 70 201 cu in running at 1500 nice. Our neighbour had s 77 always like sound of 6 cyl. Thanks king of the row Good one
The 70 really has a different tone to it. Looks like the dirt is rolling over beautiful. I can almost smell the dirt from here roger
It has a muffler but I think the chrome pipe is what gives it a throaty sound. It’s been a long haul to get that tractor running right.
We’re would a fella get the seed buckets. Just picked one up today
Where are you located? I have a couple I’d sell.
@@rogermiller7411 Minnesota
I’m in Southwestern Ohio so probably too far. Shipping would be too costly.
@@rogermiller7411 yeah probly. Any idea were a guy could get some closer? Or could they be patched up? About to take a closer look today at it.
