    We can use vim liquid and baking soda always right? I need your personal opinion irrespective of what manufacturers say as your opinions are practical and sensible.

    • @BhuvanaAdi
      @BhuvanaAdi  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Revati, i would not recommend Vim liquid or for that matter any manual wash cleaning liquid to be used in the dishwasher. These liquids cause foaming which is not right for the dishwasher.
      Dishwasher detergents are formulated in such a way that there is hardly any foam during the wash cycle.
      What I have shared here is only a temporary solution as I have clearly mentioned in the video.
      I had made this during the lockdown period when there was short supply of detergents.
      So, please avoid using this in a regular basis.
      Thanks.

    Thanks ma'am for idea. I am using now Ariel and baking soda for cleaning utensils . There equation is 1:2. But ma'am after cleaning process over in my utensils little foam occur after pouring water in it . What should i donow . Please suggest

    • @BhuvanaAdi
      @BhuvanaAdi  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Priya,
      Reduce quantity of Ariel. Btw is it top load detergent or front load. Because top load detergent will cause foam. Use only front load washing machine detergent.
      In case you're using dish wash liquid along with baking soda, do not use more liquid as this will cause foaming which will be difficult to remove and will damage the machine.

    hallo, I have read that rinse aid might be not so good for health as it remains as a coating on the vessels. Is there an altenative to rinse aid. Also in few sites people are using vinegar as a substitute. would that not harm the machine. I am using voltas table top dishwasher. Is there an alternate safer substitute?

    • @BhuvanaAdi
      @BhuvanaAdi  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @yohharuna To use or not use rinse aid is one's choice. If you are not comfortable, you need not use rinse aid.
      Yes, many people are using vinegar as a substitute so if you want, you could use that. I have read that long term use of vinegar could harm the machine since vinegar is acidic. I think putting vinegar in rinse aid compartment could be harmful in the long run. But as a habit, I just wash the dishes before use (whether hand washed or machine washed). You could follow this if you are using rinse aid. Citric acid can be a substitute for rinse aid but it should not be put in rinse aid compartment but in detergent compartment during the rinse cycle not at the beginning. This is not convenient but a hassle. This is based on some viewers feedback. As such a comfortable alternative for rinse aid is not there. Thank you.

    If we are using dishwasher for the first time and using tablet (finish all in one)is there need to add other things like salt , detergent &salt

      Have you purchased dishwasher and has the installation person come and installed it? Yes first time filling of salt with water is compulsory before starting to use the dishwasher. First time, please put full 1 Kg at least. Please watch my video on this -
      th-cam.com/video/pIFZpinuMbU/w-d-xo.html
      If your water is hard then salt has to be set for consumption. If water is soft, then salt setting can be kept at zero if using tablets permanently. Similarly you can keep rinse aid setting zero if you want.
      I have posted video showing how to set salt and rinse aid in LG dishwasher. Please watch the same :

    Hi. The video is very helpful for dishwashing detergent but the machine also needs dishwashing salt and Rinse Aid. What do you use for that ?

    • @BhuvanaAdi
      @BhuvanaAdi  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @sam I, actually many people were enquiring about detergent/tablet substitute in this lockdown period. Hence I posted this video. This is just a emergency/short term substitute which worked for me. It may not work for everyone. This is not a permanent or long term solution. Detergents/tablets have slowly started becoming available more often these days and it is better to buy and use them as soon as they are available. Salt is for hard water and rinse aid is for shine and drying. In case these are not available, on a short term basis, the machine can be used without these by setting salt and rinse aid settings to zero. In case the water is very hard and affecting cleaning, one could add citric acid at the start of rinse cycle. This somewhat makes up for the absence of salt. I have mentioned this in the video. Hope this clarifies. Thanks.

    Hello Ma’am,
    I recently purchased a Bosch dishwasher, from past 4 days or so I am observing whiteness on all utensils steel and glassware. First I thought this might be due to lower level of rinse aid I refilled even though the indicator was not on. Could you please suggest a solution.

    • @BhuvanaAdi
      @BhuvanaAdi  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Abhishek, you have not mentioned which program cycle you used. Moreover check the rinse aid setting of your machine. Try setting it to a higher level.
      Secondly both Bosch and LG use condensation drying method for drying dishes. That's why if you can see the dishes dry after sometime rather than when you open immediately.
      You've the extra dry option, you can try using that for totally dry dishes.
      Hope this helps.

    • @BhuvanaAdi
      @BhuvanaAdi  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes my machine had salt while using this detergent substitute. Remember although I have made it in a tablet form, this is not a tablet, but only a detergent. If you choose not to use salt, dishwasher will work, but it may not give good cleaning especially if you have hard water. If you have soft water, running without salt will not make any difference. Please read the disclaimer in the video description. This is not a premanent substitute or solution. Thanks.

    such burnt spots at (5.40) have to be hand scrubed away, and dishwashers usually fail here .

    • @BhuvanaAdi
      @BhuvanaAdi  ปีที่แล้ว

      Actually for these utensils, a long high temperature cycle should have been used but I use the short cycle. And here I have used a substitute detergent (garment detergent) which may have limited cleaning power in utensils. So the combination of the detergent and short cycle has given this result.
      But yes, a dishwasher does not do physical scrubbing and hence in most heavy stain cases, it can give just about 90 - 95% cleaning if the correct program and temperature are chosen. The balance if any, however becomes very soft that it can be removed by light scrubbing. I have shown this in one of my videos.
      Thanks for sharing your views and thoughts.

      Yes, it is better to stick to branded detergent, rinse aid and salt which are specifically formulated to be used for cleaning in dishwasher. Anything else could damage the machine parts in the long run.
      What I've shown was only a temporary substitute during lockdown when there was short supply of dishwasher consumables.

      Hi Yuga, yes it is quite difficult to get these consumables during this lockdown.
      The machine cannot be run without salt, even if you are having soft water and kept salt to zero. Use of rinse aid is optional.
      What I would advise is click on the purchase and if it says out of stock, then on the right side you can sign up to get notified when it becomes available. Suddenly some stocks come and gets exhausted quickly. I am giving detergent link below -
      amzn.to/2LtgeBy Detergent
      amzn.to/2yrMDA2 Rinse Aid
      amzn.to/2Czq4O3 Salt
      You can add 2-3 tbsp of citric acid during rinse cycle or keep half cup of vinegar in the top rack . This will improve cleaning and prevent scaling.

      Hi Sanjay, as i have mentioned this is just a substitute for a detergent that should be used in case detergents are not available. I made this video during Covid when there was short supply of dishwasher detergents.
      Salt is required for softening water. So it is always required, as this substitute does not have any salt in it.

      Hi Sharat Jyotsana, thanks for trying out one of the solution. You have not mentioned whether you were satisfied with the cleaning results.
      Most washing machine detergents come with some fragrance so that washed clothes smell good. I can think of only one thing, try to run a pre wash cycle after the magic cycle is completed. This will also clean the utensils thoroughly and also remove the smell.
      Or else, place half a cup of vinegar in the top rack, during the rinse cycle. For this you've to open the machine at the correct time.
      Please try this and share your experience. All the best.

      Hi Prasad, consumption much depends on water quality and salt & rinse aid setting in your machine.
      If your salt setting is at H2 and you use one cycle per day, salt will last approximately 2 months. Rinse aid should last anywhere between 1-1½ months. Much depends on which program cycles you use. This figure can just be an indication, it could slightly vary depending on your usage of cycles, frequency of usage, degree of soiling etc.

      Hi Abhijeet, unless and until you use a water softener at the source, it would not be a wise thing to use a dishwasher with such high TDS of your water. I do not know how you have tested your water for finding the TDS.
      In any case give your water for testing in a nearby food/water testing lab. Test for the percentage of magnesium and calcium in the water.
      This would give a clear picture of the TDS of your water. If it is still very high, then i would suggest you make some arrangements for soft water before deciding to buy a dishwasher. Thanks.

      Even during normal times when detergents are available and being used, I have time and again maintained that soaking is the best practice for efficient and best cleaning. I've been doing this from the time of hand washing of vessels too. We never let the utensils dry before washing. Soaking eases out the particles and grease stuck on the dishes and gives out perfect cleaning results.

      Thanks for sharing. This was just a temporary solution I came out with, as I've mentioned. Results vary from person to person. It depends on hardness of water. I hav ementioned this in the disclaimer.
      From your experience I feel your water is very hard. Add citric acid at the beginning of rinse cycle in the detergent compartment and I am sure, you will not have the problem of white patches.
      Did the second solution work? It's after all non foaming front wash detergent plus a few drops of normal dish wash liquid.
      Even if you take various brands of detergents, a brand which suits and is perfect for one may not be so for another.
      Anyway thanks for sharing your experience.

    How does table salt effect on dishwasher?

    • @BhuvanaAdi
      @BhuvanaAdi  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Table salt has anti caking agent and iodine. For water softening what is needed is pure sodium chloride and hence the special salt for dishwasher should be used.

      This i tried during lockdown in 2020, when detergents weren't easily available. This is only a temporary solution, as I've mentioned in the video.
      Dishwashers need special detergents which have multiple ingredients for cleaning. Branded detergents generally give better cleaning.
      You may find certain videos showing diy detergents/liquids for dishwashers, but I've not tried any of them.

    Baking soda does nothing to improve cleaning effectiveness. Citric acid reacts with baking soda to produce sodium citrate, water, and carbon dioxide.

      @BhuvanaAdi  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Frank for sharing this info. This is just a temporary solution I could come up with after a bit of research, at this time of lockdown and non-availability of dishwasher detergents.
      Baking soda does clean the dishes to an extent and reduces the foam formed by the few drops of normal dish wash liquid whichs helps in cleaning the greasy and soiled dishes.

      Why do you have difficulty understanding that baking soda, a base, reacts with citric acid? Why don’t you mix them separately in water and watch as they fizz when they react?

    • @BhuvanaAdi

      Citric acid is fine. Sodium citrate is a good water softener and rinse aid. It’s a chelate. The combination is fine. The problem is that you described it inaccurately.
