Thank you for the Balkan and English explanation. I guess I was understanding English blends to be those that contain both Latakia and oriental? I don't mind a some blends that contain Latakia, but I've not found too many that I enjoy that contain any oriental. It gives off a perfume-soap like flavor to me. Sometimes Latakia can taste that way to me too, but it seems that the smokiness knocks down the sharpness of that perfume-soap-like flavor.
I wish I would have included some Plum Pudding by Seattle Pipe Club. I can’t say that it’s on the same level as Penzance, but it’s in the same neighborhood.

Hi there - how does the 1820 Flake taste new compared to Penzance in the opinion of other viewers? As I understand, most of the comparisons are using new 1820 vs the now likely aged Penzance. Aside from the comparison, how much improvement could one expect after aging the 1820 a couple years ? I’ve only smoked new Quiet Nights and still trying to source Boswells Northwoods for the upcoming 🇨🇦-winter. Thanks for any advice 🙏🏼
@@Rurik8118 Ageing never hurts. I am not an Esoterica fan, find too much going on to the point of zero nuance. The Germaine's isn't any easier to obtain, but as I recall, I preferred the Germains
