I still play this tune today. This is a song that you HAVE TO get up and dance to! If you can sit still while listening to this, you are in a coma or dead.

Jackie Wilson is a legend. I can put his music on and not hit skip. He influenced other top artists from different genres of music.

I was 8 years old when I first heard Jackie, I had three sibs who would play rockn'roll and Motown 45's around the house Day and night. Believe it or not, our Mom approved of it and allowed us to play them all the time! My favorites were "Doggin' me around" and (My love keeps taken me) "Higher and Higher", We loved Jackie Wilson and will never forget him! 💓💞💖😘

Jackie Wilson really showed the strength of his voice when he sang, "Night." If you haven't heard it you will be knocked out with it.

These tunes became part of Northern Soul ( England) in the early 70’s. Check Northern Soul out, you will love it 🇬🇧🇬🇧

Dolly Parton did Higher and Higher and My Love (originally My Girl) in 1977 on her "freedom" album she produced after freeing herself from her mentor Porter Wagoner. The album, called "New Harvest First Gathering" also contained one of her best ever songs written as a celebration of her new freedom "Light of a Clear Blue Morning." It is a song from which some people find hope and inspiration to go on. (Just read some of the comments posted there.)

This song was part of a comeback for Jackie. He was a big star in the late fifties and early 60s along with Sam Cooke. But this song reintroduced him to a new gen of youth including me. This came out when I was 14. Other thing to note this was from Season 1 of Soul Train maybe even episode 1. Soul Train was originally a local, daily Chicago show and in '71 Don Cornelius took it to LA.

Supposedly Wilson at 16 years old won the Michigan Golden Gloves but his mother dragged him from a boxing gym and made him give up the sport.
