      3D printed frames would be a nice option and you'd imagine would really take off in the near future. Especially if it brought prices down once perfected and scaled way up.

      How do you add air?

    • @stephendutton3766
      @stephendutton3766 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Nathan Johnson I'd imagine unscrew the cartridge from the frame and you'd have access to the valve. Again all of this depends on how well such an arrangement can be made to withstand normal use. Other way would be if a valve could be place somewhere else.

    • @rpiian
      @rpiian ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Honestly, after listening to his reasoning and the bikes design in a podcast, I’m starting to like it. To service the shock you have to drop the fork out and it pops out the front of the head tube - but it’s otherwise no different to service than your normal air can shocks. And yea, really competitive weight wise.

    The Vitus paint is clearly inspired by roy lichtenstein, the 20th century artist who pioneered that primary colour, textured pop art. Andy Worhol didn’t do anything like that at all, Andy simply parodied pop culture and art using various screen printing techniques.

    I really like the Mend Kit! It's long overdue (to my knowledge) a MTB specific First-Aid kit! I do have one I made with a turniquet, gauges, band-aids. But I really like that this one comes with the Splints too!
    I did google it and found it a bit pricey at $50, however I think it's a fair price considering I paid about $20 just for a turniquet .

  • @SuperAnatolli

    I still running 9-speed (old shimano XT). Works great. Lots of mud and stuff here in Norway, and 10 speed and above has a tendency to clog up with mud, dirt and stuff. Works great when it is clean, but MTBs usually dont stay clean for long around here. 200 meters or so... But I guess Box Components only has 1x9. So they are out. Fully machined cassette is also expencive.
    The vitus looks nice. Looks like a good old XC-bike. Not common these days.

    • @boostaddict_
      @boostaddict_ ปีที่แล้ว +1

      1x9 is all you need, it has just as much range as old 3x9 drivetrains, but with better chain retention.

    • @SuperAnatolli
      @SuperAnatolli ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@boostaddict_ Too big steps between the gears. Lots of up-hills here (typical 300-500 meters in one go and you can have several climbs on one ride) and correct gearing is vital in up-hills for me. A stronger rider can probably do with bigger steps. But mountain biking is turning more and more towards down slope riding and lift based riding. For that 1x9 is very good.

    Slow manufacturing methods like 3D printing most likely aren't the future of consumer products. It's an incredibly slow way to produce something and it makes you ask the question "why do we need it to be 3D printed?" That said, methods like 3D Printing, CNC, and EDM are incredibly useful for prototypes and tooling, of can then be used to rapidly stamp out a variety of bikes and components. Buying a new bike just to ride the current trails we have has become increasingly expensive, something white collar middle aged men might be able to afford perhaps. Small scale niche manufacturers aren't helping that problem. There's a reason the best selling brands make all the boring stuff...

    Plastic Bikes are not the future of biking otherwise they'd have already gone down that road. 3D printing has been out for several decades and manufacturers have had plenty of time to R&D many materials as viable. Car makers come to mind - Car makers do not use plastic as a structural component for a reason - it won't hold up. They use plastic componetns as facade and coverings and to make the overall vehicle lighter weight. While they use steel and carbon components for strength and durability. If Revel is using "plastic" as structure - it's not pure plastic and likely some sort of composite / combination of materials to produce any vaible structure and rigidity. Maybe GMBN does a deep dive into Revel like they did w/ 5Dev so we get a better explanation of this "plastic bike as the future of the biking industry" statement.

    • @uberfu
      @uberfu ปีที่แล้ว

      And the Digit Integrated Shock is restricted to those specific bieks and those bikes can't take another brand. FInally Digit has been around for ~2 years so if the company fails the you're stuck with a bike that cannot replace a bad shock. If I wanted bespoke+integrated parts I wouldn't be ridingin high end bikes (the whole point of which is to be able to mix and match and swap out parts as we see fit).

    Please do not buy the Mend It kit.
    It’s very obviously using a knock off tourniquet that is not going to be TCCC approved.
    They are also advocating a terrible way to store your tourniquet. It should not be wrapped around your frame where it is exposed to rocks, dirt, etc. It should be stowed away from the elements so that it does not potentially degrade and break when you need it most.
    A tourniquet is emergency life-saving equipment, you should not be using Chinese knock offs or storing it in a way that exposes it to damage.

      @@irfuel Real ones are only $30-$35 USD, a tourniquet is not something you want to cheap out on and should never be used as a frame strap
