    Just discovered these (Scotland) and this is by far the best hook setup for me 👍 thanks dude

    Most places here in New Zealand is single hook only, cheers for the vid..couple more months until opening season, but not too early to get ready. Tazzies work good in deep river pools some days.

      We'd Love to get over to NZ to catch some trout. Amazing fishing over there and great people. Good luck! Tight Lines.

    PB Rainbow trout at Pondage using a Pink Lady 13.5 gram, 58cm. Also got a 55cm and 49cm. Brown, biggest yet was a 52cm. All out of the Pondage and all from my favorite spot. Might give this rigging a go as I normally use the standard trace and trebil hooks they come with.

    Maaaate, I went to the Pondage yesterday for the first time and although I had watched your TH-cam video the night before about swapping out the wire from the Tassie Devil for a running rig, I didn't get around to doing it and ended up paying the price. I had a similar sized brown on and then it jumped and using the weight of the Tassie Devil it threw the hook. Exactly what was said in the video. Now I'm back in Bendigo doing all to my Tassie Devil brigade what I should have done beforehand.

      Bad luck Bill. Let us know how you go next time! Definitely change your tassie rigs as they love spitting the wire trace when they jump. Get out again soon and thanks for watching!

    Thanks for a clear video. Good description and easy to follow. I’ll get some devils and try out from the boat. Thanks.

    Good idea! I keep losing the little wire that comes with it but now I realize I don't need it. Plus some area's I go to are 'barbless lures only', so this gives me more options. Neat.

      Thanks for watching, yeah no need for thr wire trace just slide the lure right on!

    That trout you caught was beautiful!
    I heard you ask forTasi lure PBs... just went out on New Years day to a lake in northern California trolled a chrome and blue Tasi out of my kayak. Landed a 7lb rainbow... I had grabbed this lure at bass pro shop cause I have never seen before and in my mind it was something different for the trout to see...nice video!

    Interesting rigging of the single hooks , though I think , that snagging is less of an issue with Tassie Devils , as they tend to swim quite shallow .

      Hey Dave, thanks for the feedback mate. Luckily we love getting out to the streams for trout and fresh water species. We plan on doing a trip out into the high country in the next week or so to shoot a new catch and cook. Stay tuned!

    this is definitely the way to go. you could try using a palomar knot over those hooks.

    interesting double single set up, i fish seatrout in northern ireland with tassies, i slide the tas on then a small hard beat then a rubber bead below it to act as a buffer then join 2 split rings together and add a very small treble

    Hi mate greetings from Scotland can I ask what size hooks you would use on a 7g tassie
    I’ve got size 6&8 but can’t decide the trout I’m fishing for are not huge up to a pound cheers.

    Do you use an antikink

    • @FishingForChumps
      @FishingForChumps  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Michael, No I don't, but my friend uses a swivel at the bottom and connects the hooks to the bottom of the swivel and the line to the top half. Certain line is more prone to tangling, I generally use mono 6lb and I get minimal line twist. Thanks for watching. 👌

    Don't you have to add weights to make them dive deeper and have casting distance? If so, how far ahead of the lure do you put your weights?

    • @FishingForChumps
      @FishingForChumps  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Nay - the lure itself is 13 grams. Casting distance is actually one of its strengths. if you wanted to add more weight you could replace the bead with a small ball sinker or do a running sinker type set up about a meter up the line wit ha swivel. Thanks for watching!

    Great lures for European pike

    • @61diemai
      @61diemai 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Really ?
      I have only caught trout on them , no pike , no perch , even though these are also stocked in my fishing club's ponds .

    • @minisla
      @minisla 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@61diemai To be honest I've caught my heaviest pike on a 13g lure. More successful with pike than trout although I've caught a few nice trout. Seems like they work well on trout early in the season. Later on not very successful.

    • @minisla
      @minisla 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Any luck with the larger lures 26g. I've never caught anything.. 20g not great either

      Thanks for the feedback , I only throw the smaller versions for trout on occassion , but haven't been too sucessfull with them lately, the worked better for me like 20 years ago .
      I also have one large Tassie Devil , but I never take it along .
      It's like that , every angler has confidence in different lures , I guess .

      @Eckscanarth 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@FishingForChumps I used 2 size 6 gamakatsu with a 13.5g pink panther colour tassie devil and got instant results with redfin perch, so much easier to remove than a treble and doesn’t seem to snag on weeds as much 👍

    Why use split ring. Tie line directly to the hook. Find the split ring causes damage to the bead
