I remember hanging out with friends in 2006 when I was a teenager, and one of my best friends, Colin, showed us this cool site he found called "TH-cam." He wanted to learn to play the guitar, so he showed us this video (one of the uploads, at least) and talked about how much it inspired him and how he was watching it every day. And he ended up getting really good at guitar thanks to this video. Unfortunately, he passed away very suddenly and unexpectedly about ten years ago, but I still come back to this video from time to time because it reminds me of that day and how excited he was to show us. I'm almost 30. When i was 15, this video was one of many that inspired me to heavily invest myself into guitar. That same year I had a near death accident that would change my life. I was crushed using an ATV, and sustained major injuries including a broken back, ruptured spleen, crushed kidney, and broken left wrist. I pulled through this, got out of the hospital, and with a cast on my arm was determined to continue to play. I got a lot heavier into metal as power cords where some of the only things i could manage with my hand in that cast. I recovered from the accident, went back to school and my life went back to 'normal". Except for the pain. But all my favorite musicians where addicts...did drugs make you a "better" musician? Its not like anyone expects to become an addict, but to any aspiring musicians out there, drugs will not make you a better player. Its up to you to get past whatever mental roadblocks you may have to your creative mind. I am almost one year sober. I lost all of my playing capability from not practicing or playing at all for years now . but I'm inspired again...and determined. Its time people step up also to make the world a little bit of a better place. You can take all of this shit and deal with it and realize life goes on, or you can fade away. Learn to love life. if everyone could just take what they need and give the rest, care about each other and be loving in this world things will find peace. I wish everyone luck in thier lives. Keep your heads up.
Shoot man, I just turned 30 myself. I remember this video when TH-cam first came out back in the Myspace days! I love music -- I mainly play piano. But I too was heavily addicted to drugs. Overdosed numerous times. Most of my friends are either in jail, dead, or God knows where. As for me, I've been sober for 15 months. I hadn't spent more than 3 months sober since I was 15 haha so I'm in a good place now,,, or better I mean. This world is such a selfish place it can be really hard ya know? And I probably would have given up myself if I hadn't reached out in a prayer for help. I hope you keep hanging in there man. There is definitely more to life than just being alive! My list goes in this order God, family, music, football. Clinging to what makes me happy has helped,,, but I had to learn to love myself first before I could make it out of the pit of death I was in. But if I can do it anyone can. Sounds like you're doing good man, and you're trying to encourage others too which is one of the main ways we help ourselves -- while remaining balanced where that's concerned. Keep playing that guitar! I used my stimulus check to get a rad keyboard so I been jamming on that sucker every day. Had to evacuate because of the hurricane in the south for a couple of days, and I already missed it! Just got back home though. At any rate, sending peace and prayers your way bro. The name's Cody.
This guy can not imagine how important this video was in my entire childhood. I watched him totally enchanted, and dreaming of one day being able to play like that, or at least having a guitar that at the age of 12 had not yet. And today I watch it is a pure nostalgia, thanks for this video exist!!
I saw this version of Canon Rock first and was blown away by the sheer joy in my ears! Shortly after I saw JerryC, the person who created this arrangement and loved it even more. Which I wouldn't have thought possible! I've now seen many covers of Canon Rock for which I am very thankful. And it all started here.🥲
My grandad showed me this almost 15 years ago, it sparked something inside of me. I wanted to learn it not to be able to play it on guitar, but to make an old man proud of his grandson. God Speed Papa. See you on the flip side, hero.
Just wondering if he is aware of the thousand individuals he has inspired to become guitarist through this single video. Feeling so nostalgic seeing this video after ages.
I don't remember what year I watched this, but I am pretty sure it's more than 10 years ago... I converted this video to MP3 so that I could listen it in my MP3 player...
This song is epic and timeless, I was 15 when I listened to this masterpiece for the first time and I couldn't believe what I was listening to, I became obsessed. I'm 32 now and still get goosebumps, I'll probably get them till I die 🥹 thank you man! ❤ when TH-cam was TH-cam ❤
I’ve had a lot of friends come and go from my life since this video was first posted. Some have gone on to have successful careers, fall in love, and start families. Some have passed on to whatever comes next, having moved away from this mortal coil sooner than they deserved. 15 years is such a long time, and in the same breath you could say it’s barely anything at all. Nostalgic milestones like this serve as reminders to reminisce - if we’re privileged enough to do so - and to enjoy the days and friendships both past and present while we light a torch for future generations to make their own memories.

Happy New Year 1/1/2021
@@friendofthelowly Keep it up!
I cant stop coming back, 15 years later i still can't stop
Way to feel old... I remember when this was quite fresh on TH-cam. Still amazed by his skills
This guy can not imagine how important this video was in my entire childhood. I watched him totally enchanted, and dreaming of one day being able to play like that, or at least having a guitar that at the age of 12 had not yet. And today I watch it is a pure nostalgia, thanks for this video exist!!
@heber moreno i was going to ask same thing
this guy just copied Jerry C's video. hes a farse!
13 years later :D
Still love this rendition of Canon Rock :D
Compose lvl: *LEGENDARY*
2024 and still listening
17 years and I still can't shred the solo.. Beautifully played and thanks for making me start playing guitar back in the day!
I saw this version of Canon Rock first and was blown away by the sheer joy in my ears! Shortly after I saw JerryC, the person who created this arrangement and loved it even more. Which I wouldn't have thought possible!
I've now seen many covers of Canon Rock for which I am very thankful.
And it all started here.🥲
14 years later , and it still send shivers down my spine
Make that 15.
Freddie Mercury.. 😅👍
12 years here and still strong. Keep rocking baby!

Stupid kid get out of here
Why you make me feel old
This is the first version of cannon rock i heard when i was kid.. until now i still hearing it in 2024
My grandad showed me this almost 15 years ago, it sparked something inside of me. I wanted to learn it not to be able to play it on guitar, but to make an old man proud of his grandson. God Speed Papa. See you on the flip side, hero.
back when i was 12, now im turning 24 and i say his cover is still the best... pure talent...
RaJ RaVin' not pure talent but plenty of practice
Literally took the words out of my mouth
@Samuraii where du u get that
@Samuraii no jerry c = no canon rocks in guitar hero
I was about that age as well still love it
back in the days, where cs 1.6 was the fuckin best game in the world.
Implying CS 1.6 isn't still the best game in the world.
it is
Steven Micko all a matter of personal opinion, i think minesweeper is the best lol
CS 1.6 is like Canon D by Johann Pachelbel and CSGO is like Canon Rock by JerryC
Cannon in D the most beautiful piece ever written. And rocking it up it is still awesome a true testimony to P’s’ genius.
Just wondering if he is aware of the thousand individuals he has inspired to become guitarist through this single video.
Feeling so nostalgic seeing this video after ages.
exactly my case...
started guitar because of this video
I don't remember what year I watched this, but I am pretty sure it's more than 10 years ago...
I converted this video to MP3 so that I could listen it in my MP3 player...
You bet! That was around the time TH-cam just started --- 2006, so ~14 yrs really!
@@some90sKid me too... Digging my olf files I found that mp3. Searched on internet and the memories came back..
same here, i was obsessed with this song!
I did the same! I remember listening to this on the way to my first day of college... almost 15 years ago 😮

Back when 240p was the average quality you'd get on TH-cam!
It was like the only quality haha but the content was so good you'd watch anyway. Good times
+Christian Perez but the content in nowadays video was shit
***** thank you bro..
and you would have to load the video for like half an hour before watching it cos you had dial-up
sorry what were you guys saying?? this video is the highest quality on youtube right now.. - internet explorer user
This song is epic and timeless, I was 15 when I listened to this masterpiece for the first time and I couldn't believe what I was listening to, I became obsessed. I'm 32 now and still get goosebumps, I'll probably get them till I die 🥹 thank you man! ❤ when TH-cam was TH-cam ❤

corporate meddeling killed the authenticity.
Charlie bit my finger and evolution of dance days
17 years holy I remember when this song had about 25k views back in the days, I still enjoy it as much as the first time I heard it❤
Still one of the best young-peoples-guitar-cover videos since the beginning of the Internet
It's been almost 16 years since I saw this and I'm crying. The nostalgia will never be the same.
Never ever
Same!
Same damn time flies
I remeber this video 16 years ago, i'm crying.
Incredibly well said, Jason.
Beautiful
Well said
Im 28 now and I remember watching this in about year 8 of school and being blown away and I'm still amazed 15 years later
Still love this all these years later!!
Hearing this in 2021, makes so much joy and happiness.
I wish this guy knows how many people he inspired to keep going with the guitar in these years
Fucking hell...9 years it's been.
James McKay Been longer than that, there was one video that was taken down had 30 odd million views.
I'm fully aware of that, it had more like 80 million views and was the 2nd most popular video on youtube at one point
James McKay it was first uploaded in 2005 :) this is just a reupload for some reason the original one got deleted. it was the first video ive seen in YT good old memories :D
+James McKay there was a time when i thought no video would ever pass "evolution of dance" for #1.
Forever getting chills watching this 12 years later kudos to you sir 👏
In the late 2000s, a lot of people claimed this guy to be in the top 10 best guitar players ever for a while.
Do you think they're wrong?!
Because I don't!
Yeah, there are many that play at this level or above. You would obviously be surprised. I still like tornado of souls better. Lol
@@nicktechnubyte1184 This guy is nowhere near the top, maybe top 10 TH-cam guitarists back in 06 though
@@wes3793 that's what the OP said. He was definitely a top 10 back in 2006+
Absolute magic. Just as incredible as it was when I first watched it all those years ago.
피지컬도 피지컬인데 편곡이 미쳤네. 죽을때까지 볼 영상이다
This was a canon event in all 2010 kids life.
Literally one of the first videos I ever saw on TH-cam. Damn time flies
What's Really Good wtf is ur background
+showan susholm lol its Gordon Ramsay
omfg the picture XD
Bro ur pic XD wtf
When I was getting into TH-cam very early on (around 2007-2008 I believe) I saw a lolcats video with this as the background music and saved it to my computer. Happy to know this song :) I think I still have the vid and it's probably still up here too
Absolute brilliant editing at 3:10!
i think he was tryin some inspirational shit back there but gave up halfway like screw this shit, imma just ram this guitar hard XD
I still love this version!!!! I first heard this when I was in college! Time flies but I still keep on going back to this version! too bad he wasn't able to make another video. This guy is ❤❤❤❤ whoever you are!
He had to have practiced this song for 10 years before he went this hard on a single take on a turned around digital camera. 17 years later this is still just as captivating as when I was 13.
