My deepest condolences to Doug and Rob, I know from experience how utterly devastating it feels to lose a loved one. Your mother, while I never personally met her, seemed like the most upbeat and charming person ever in every single appearance she did in your videos. My prayers go to your family, and I wish you all the best.
The music may have changed for the open, but seeing The Nostalgia Critic salty as a pretzel over a video game is STILL funny as hell. And the Rage Quit at the end is STILL classic!
I agree with you on that because I know that there was another video 📹 of this video game 🎮 review where the music 🎶 was different in the opening, but this video is still funny and amazing nonetheless 😄
Judson Joist that's really true look up his acoustic cover of Carmelita it's extremely good plus theres a little gg allin Easter egg somewhere on his guitar once you see it you can't unsee it haha
I miss how simplistic his old videos were. He puts stories into them now, and aren't always the best. Not that they are god-awful but I always preferred the old NC instead of the newer episodes.
it makes a little more sense when you know that he tried to make his own short films in his college days. When he started doing reviews, he mostly just went into them with a decent knowledge of film and story structure. Not sure if he had high hopes starting off, or if the original videos were just done for the lolz. I'm gonna assume that as he got more popular and was able to fan fund larger projects. Then he eventually got his own crew, and thus wanted to pursue his larger term goals(of what I'm guessing is being able to perform and act alongside simply just talking/informing about the topics) through his youtube videos. I understand the newer videos are polarizing, but I still find myself enjoying a few moments here and there. It might also be because I got into NC around the time he was transitioning from his "mostly sitting and talking" style with the "scripted/skit" style his newer videos have. So I'm mostly in the neutral party of these two generations.
The only game from Titus I ever played was a game called Prehistorik (or something like that). You played a caveman out for food and you had to go through levels clubbing dinosaurs and getting power-ups. A basic but kinda fun platform game, though a bit hard.
My condolences for your mother. I hope that you're all able to find peace and light through these tough times. I'll keep you and your family in my heart. +Channel Awesome
Oh wow, I am so sorry for your loss, Doug. Please stay well, and make sure you are comfortable. You don't need to worry about making reviews right now, I'm sure everyone agrees.
+Channel Awesome Thanks! I'll get on that when I get paid next week. Keep up the Awesome content. I only recently gotten an account on here just so I could like, comment, and subscribe to channels like yours.
Not going to lie, when I first saw the thumbnail, I honestly truly thought it was a broken doug doing a vlog on what just happened. I am so, so sorry for your loss, Doug.
I think I remember playing that came and pretty much went through my entire vocabulary of swear words. If I had a swear jar I would have been left in debt well over 30 years. They created a crappy game and slapped on a tie in to a popular movie in order to move the game on to an unsuspecting Blues Brothers Fan. Can't tell you how many times that has been done.
This game seems like it was originally meant to be a Bill & Ted game or something but then they couldn't get the rights so they settled for Blues Brothers.
+Davin Long Oh jeez, that's a shame. From the few videos I've seen her in, she seemed like a genuinely nice and funny lady. My sincerest condolences to the whole Walker family. She will be forever missed.
NC should do video game reviews more often. I know they have a partnership with Blistered Thumbs and other video game reviewers for that, but Doug should still do a few. BTW MISSED a great joke opportunity @ 4:25 if you look at the bottom there's a warning for you not to try the actions seen in the game at home. I can come up with like 5 good jokes off the top of my head. You can actually start to see some of the burnout that Almost cancelled the Nostalgia Critic for good when he says the "... dance, monkey. Dance!" rant.
It could, a boss that can't directly hurt you, but can push you into say, lava or acid, or something, it honestly reminds me of the snakelike boss you face in the water section of Super Metroid. It honestly could make an interesting boss fight, or even a mini-boss.
(Imitating Doug Walker/The Nostalgic Critic Guy at 1:07) Let’s see, how about a review? Yes, we all enjoy reviews, don’t we? Now, what should it be, hmm? I know, how about a video game that just really pisses me the fuck off?! Because that’s all you wanna see, isn’t it? You just wanna see be angry, dance, monkey, dance. (Talking in my Voice) Lol😆man! Doug Walker, you just sure know how to make someone laugh😆, don’t ya?
I've seen the original upload of this several times, so it was a bit of a jolt for me when the usual "Rise and shine" music for the opening bit was changed. x.x
I actually really like this game XD Bought a raspberry pi just to play this game and goof troop with a friend. But yea, Difficulty is definitely not for all, But it's essentially that difficulty that I love so much.
10:46 - Yup, there's a moment that James Rolfe would have called "Death Insurance". Even if you had somehow magically avoided the electric barrier, there's a bottomless pit right beneath it. :/
Its like he said before, this Video Game makes Blues Brothers 2000 look good. I know that its bad and that it disrespects the first Film (despite Dan Aykroyd coming back as Elwood and the Songs aren't so bad), but at least it sort of had a Plot that Audience can follow with a Beginning, Middle and End....................same with the first Blues Brothers Film.
That's right! DANCE MONKEY! GET ANGRY! And how do you not remember the giant killer bees and swinging platforms from the movie? There was an entire dance number devoted to it with a cameo by Blondie.
Critic should review more video games. I can't believe he's going through with this after how terrible his review of Bar's Nightmare was. This review, however, was hilarious! :)
exactly. He has the abilty of doing awesome reviews, be it movies, be it games (even comemrcials ffs lol) so as long as he doesn't do Let's Plays he's ok. Not to mention LPs wouldn't have been a thing because they take much more than 2 parts
I want to see the Critic do more narrative heavy/ Cineamatic games like Heavy Rain, Beyond Two Souls, Shadow of the Colossus, Inside, Winnie the Pooh's Home Run Derby, Assassin's Creed, Day of the Tentacle, Grim Fandango, and the AVGN Games...
If you want to make a decent Blue Brothers game, make it either a driving simulation or a rhythm game. That would make much more sense. Heck, you could use the soundtrack from the movie as the songs you play.

I heard what happened, so sad :(. All best wishes Doug and your family.
What happened to Doug?
his mom died
+MANGA OTAKU bad news man
Just as soon as he recovers from being sick, his mother dies? I gotta admit, life is just cold sometimes. :-(
If he thinks this game is bad he should play Blues Brothers 2000 on N64.
Why do people keep making games out of bad movies? Like anyone's gonna "enjoy" the memorabillia.

@@kamengamer5372 yes it exists

A game based on that? That's ridiculous! And that's coming from a guy who really likes The Cat in the Hat game!
I saw that game in a Blockbuster video paper.

god yes. the Bebe's Kids review / AVGN emulation has always been one of my favorites. I love when Doug plays games.
So random seeing you on here. Love your music! 💓

he started doing more videos like he used to though
I think his reviews only got better. Not to mention he is less focused on toxic masculinity and child abuse "humor" now.

You could tell this is old, because he still has his gun. Seriously, he stopped using it.
He still uses it every now and then.
he just doesn't use it randomly
iisanulquiorrahara8 he's actually changed it to a ninemil beretta that and he's now got a wall covered in BB guns

For some reason, the line "the floors are made of Crisco" always get me. That and Dominic at the end.
10:37 So hilarious the way Doug says that.
3:44 My reaction when hearing the story behind Phineas and Ferb: Mission Marvel.
I think the sound from the records is James Brown. it would make sense. he was in the movie.
10:53 i love he way he yells "god" xD
@The_Crimson_Fukr, actually, when he yells, “God,” is was at 10:55. But, yeah, that was priceless😆.
The minute he mentioned blues brothers 2000 I was like “you took the words outta my mouth”.
this guy sounds like a really pissed off Micky Mouse xD hahaha
One of his biggest influences, not even joking, is Daffy Duck.

Wait when did he review this.
This review was originally made exclusively for a "best of" DVD several years ago.
In 2008ish, I think
It might've even been the first DVD the company released
It was the That Guy With The Glasses Vol. 2 DVD.
I gave your comment a like, not because of what you said, but because your name/pic is funny
Wow awesome review today NC. I remembered of Blues Brothers when put the scene of AVGN vs NC video when I did watched. lol
I honestly kind of want to just play the opening scene of this episode whenever I wanna feel pumped and positive.
I never got why people hated this and the Bebe's kids review.
^yeah. Sadly everyone has haters, especially when someone specializes in something but then triesa whole new thing.
1:33 It just dawned on me, the title screen uses the Bubsy font. (lower half)
That explains a lot. Probably shares some of the same devs.

That snake is about as friendly as a Metroid boss, and it'd probably fit right into it, too.
