Thank you so much for this idea...I have fixed my loose visor of Axor helmet simply by using elastic bands or rubber bands...even it gives more tightness...idea was simply awesome...my message to all peoples that if you didn't find such O rings then use daily usage rubber bands to fix it...

LEGEND!! I have two I90 modulars that have the loose visor problem BUT the big difference between the RPHA and the I90 is that the visor detent is part of the chin guard pivot, so getting a new chin guard to fix the visor problem was going to be very expensive. I used 14mmx2mm Orings and fixed the problem in 5 minutes.

Wow, sorry to hear.. if you can take it back, I would.. your going to be dealing with this issue for as long as you have it and you'll need to carry these o-rings with you all the time because they wear out and break when you least expect it. It's a cool and cheap fix for now but for the amount of money spent on this helmet you shouldn't have to be dealing with this problem. Let's just hope they don't have the same issues with the safety side of the helmet as well.. if you can't get a visor locking system correct, how can I have faith in your safety rating..
      Ride safe brother

@@TheChemistDIY I can't take it back. I've been trying to find the right helmet for me for a while now and this one is the only one that fits right and that I like. The only complaint is the stupid visor issue that won't stay 1/4 or 1/2 open. If I exchange it for another of the same model I feel I will just have the same issue. For some reason HJC has this flaw in their helmet? I think I'm actually getting used to it being fully closed all the time now as the helmet has excellent air flow in the chin area. I'll just try the O-ring fix for now. Thanks brotha

Same issue with the HJC i90 I bought for the Mrs. Other than this issue the helmet is good for the price. Hoping to never have to test the crash-worthiness. I tried the O ring as suggested in the vid and also over the detent peg and over the detent peg seems to be a little tighter. Both help, but neither is as stiff as it should be. Guess I'm spoiled with my Shoei. Thank you both for the ideas.

Greetings Mr James!! Thanks for this Detailed DIY. I have watched your other videos too Nd were helpful to mine. I have a question but not related on this recent post. I hope you don’t mind.
Have you ever experienced your motorcycle will stop/stall once you shift to 1st gear from full stop ?
What is your diagnosis and fix if yes Sir
      Thank you so much

    • @TheChemistDIY
      @TheChemistDIY  3 ปีที่แล้ว

What up brother, Thanks for sticking around and going through my videos.
So let's' see, First is your idle set at 1300 rpms (When hot), I've found that the Gixer runs best at 1300 and not 1200 as the service manual will tell you. That said have you put the bike in dealer and see if your TPS indicator is dead center (-C00).
Second - I know this is common sense but I have to be thorough.. When was the last time you did a tune up.. and cleaned that air filter.. the engine needs air and as soon as you starve it.. a lot of funky ish happens.
Since your topic has to do with deceleration issues, when was the last time you checked and cleaned the Pair System.
      I have a video on that here .. th-cam.com/video/YFCiPj1yNiQ/w-d-xo.html
Good way to tell this system is dirty is if your getting a lot of exhaust popping on decel. While not covered in the video there is also a filter on the casing, just under gas tank with a hose that leads up to the air box (Big silver Square box looking thing). Most usually swap out for a normal looking filter for better airflow.
I generally go this route first if it just started happening or happens intermittent. Here you want to make sure were venting the exhaust gas fast and it not choking out the engine. plus they're real simple things to look for and fix. This is your EVAP system
While on the topic of breathing, check and make sure all of your air hoses are good.. no cracks and properly sealed. not sure if your familiar with the carb cleaner trick but I'll explain briefly. Spray some carb clean on your air lines and end entry points, see if the bike idle bogs down.. if it does then your have an air leak on that line and need to replace it.. also spray around the boots of your stacks (with air box on).. this will let you know if you have leak in this area for sure...over time the boots will degrade and crack causing air to get in where its not suppose to. th-cam.com/video/ZgZVawt02Io/w-d-xo.html
Hope that helps.. keep me posted

Still having the same problems with hjc.
I went to a store today to look at and try on the aphra 11, C70 and I70. As I wanted to buy one, I have made several visits to decide. When I realized the ratchet part was basically smooth on several of them allowing no fixed locking at the various levels. I looked at about 10 helmets and almost half had the loose visor problem. I told them at the store about my decision not to purchase because it shows poor quality control. I researched on Google when I arrived home, found this post and others. Some going back to 2010. So,14 yrs later and still happening ?

If so then that's a first, sorry brother. All that really needs to be done is provide some type of drag from the visor to the helmet body where it rotates. You could even use hot glue to add a rubber bump that provides friction between the two.

At that point your assed out because you've already road with it and know the manufacturer is going to give you shit about Returns.. so you bite the bullet and wait for the parts to fix which pushes you out past the return policy window, now only having to deal with the manufacturer warranty.. and then they don't come through.

HJC helmets are basically shit, regardless which model u choose, I landed an as new RPHA11, got exact same issue, sloppy visor & crappy detents, the truth is the post on the visor is way fatter than the detent grooves on the visor side mount plates, hence it's sloppy as FooK, glad I'd saved a good 50% on the RRP by buying a mint used lid, yes it's a nice looking & very lightweight lid, but that's about as good as it gets, sizing is off too, u need to go up 2 sizes in an RPHA11, it's clear HJC can't measure a human head, the lower detents feel non existant, visor just flops down with a nod of the head, I removed the side pods assemblies & filed the detents deeper with a small round file, made virtually difference, it's just a poor designed unit that can't be improved by filing, I tried several sizes of O"ring on the visor pivot post, not made a great deal of difference, but it's defo better than no O"rings, I'll see if I can come up with a better solution.👍

I would have to agree with you bro. For the amount of money you pay for a supposedly quality helmet 🪖 you shouldn't have to deal with shit like this and considering the length of time your stuck with a helmet ,5-7 years, that's a long time to be dealing with an issue.
I've had cheaper, no brand name helmets come right out the box in perfect working condition and outlive there use. I was really expecting more from HJC.. especially at a $400 price point.

In my search to find a helmet with built in speaker pods so I could fabricat a high end audio system I only came across a handful of helmets that appealed to me. The grandal was the sure winner because of the paint scheme which I was planning to wrap over the red with blue mirror vinyl (still am).
The price point and the reputation of HJC was is what truly got me.. can't complain much about the rest of the helmet.. but it was definitely a downer to see. Hopefully by now they worked out the kinks.. but moving forward this will definitely make me think twice about buying anything HJC.
