  • This is my video of the Blue Danube from my visit to House on the Rock on 5/16/2024.
6/10/2024 UPDATE: The Blue Danube music machine has died and is currently out of service. Apparently the audio/control system has failed. This one likely will need to be redone in the manner of the Hearse. If this can't be simply brought back online and limped along anymore, the work will likely be done by John Miller of West Allis, WI and could put other planned rebuilds off such as the Franz Josef and Moon (which are both bigger and more time consuming projects).
The song starts off louder but then strangely gets soft as it is playing with the percussion remaining at the same volume. The issue was likely with a malfunctioning audio/control system. The control system is Windows 95 based and is hitting the end of it's life cycle and is just hanging on. All the audio seemed to come from a speaker on the left side someplace and not the normal one on the right. By 1:35, the audio track volume was well faint under the overly loud percussion.

My first visit to HOTR was in the 1970's. In the 1980's I was going to Viennese balls/dancing to this type of music. This brings back many wonderful memories.

What do you remember from your visit in the 1970s?

Glad you are back, and the House on the Rock is open again! I’ve been stalling on making covers for a while. The rest of the songs sound very hard to me, but I’m sure I can do them. I’ve decided which machine to cover next. This one! I’ll have to figure out how to make a sound for the shaker chimes though.

It's been open since March but didn't get there until May 26th, 2024. I am assuming you are next doing the Red Room or Blue Danube?

@@sammorex2543 Most likely Blue Danube. They both use shaker chimes, and they have similar instruments. I think the Blue Danube would be easier though.

@@ashemiles5715 I hope you continue to do this and eventually get to do the harder ones too once you master the easier ones. Would love to hear stuff such as the Mikado.

@@sammorex2543 I will definitely try my best with the harder ones. I might save the Mikado for much later since it is one of the most complex and most popular machines.

@@ashemiles5715 The ones that are harder are for a reason. Some of those are ones that are acoustic based like the Mikado. I think the best way to do those is to get samples from the actual thing.

Will the figures in this exhibit go to a Mortier organ?

The figures are not original to a Mortier.
