- This is my first video after beginning hand engraving class with Ray Cover. I am practicing the western scroll section of the plate. The plate was designed by Ray to demonstrate the basic skills of hand engraving. I am using a Lindsey Classic handpiece with the Ray Cover Standard 90 degree graver.
Beautiful work and great demonstration thank you.
Thank you too!
Just wow! ❤
Amazing work ✨
Thanks so much!
Thank you!
You're welcome!

Thanks for the compliment.
Hay justin great vid man awsome work... will you make a vid on how what technique U use to transfer.. The transfer drawing is very neat.
Yes I will. I’m working on it now. Thanks for the suggestion!
Your filming was so great! I am curious what type of camera and equipment are you using? Trinocular microscopes are so expensive.
I’m using a small video camera attached to my scope.
Beautiful work! I'm from Brazil, here we don't have much of this work, except for jewelry. I would like to know what material you are using in the video and what are the best materials to start with
Thank you for the compliment! For practice I like to use mild steel. I recent fount 1008 alloy and really loved cutting that for practice.
Great video! What size stock are you using? 2mm 3mm? HSS?
Thanks. It’s 3/32 HSS.
Great job. Whats the name of the drill machine?
It is a pneumatic engraver made by Steve Lindsay. It’s the foot controlled Lindsay Classic.
looks very deep and clean how many degrees did you use?
Thanks for the question. I used 90 degrees.
Sir, what is the name of this rotating vice?
It’s an engravers ball vise. GRS has a wide selection of them.
Did you take a class with Ray Cover
Yes I did. It was a great class and I enjoyed learning from Ray.
@@voightengraving I went there as well last fall, Ray puts on a great class
I do leather tooling, what you're doing looks really difficult.
I admire leather tooling! Hand engraving is similar in design. It takes a lot of study and practice.
