It's fascinating to hear the references to Lenny Breau - I hadn't thought of it before today. But, as artist Francis Bacon would have said, "there it is". Lenny and Ralph as a duo - it can't happen now, but the thought is inspiring.
totally agree! he is finally starting to do some solo gigs in the USA again. He really didn't I believe for quite sometime. He has some dates lined up in the Spring of 2019. I don't live very close to where he will be but I may drive a few hours to see him live. If anyone loves or even slightly cares about the future of nylon stringed "classical" style playing he is an absolute must to know about and/or see perform. There is no composer alive on this style today that I know of that can touch him in composition or technique. He is a true master!
@@uneedtherapy42 Last year he played in Germany just about 2 hours away from me and I didn't go, still regret it. I am getting a second chance this year though (6 hr drive this time), I should take it.

I love all the dissonant slash chords. For that matter, I'm getting a little tired of all the Joe Pass clones. It will be a great day when most guitarist are like Ralph, Mick Goodrick, and John Abercrombie. Harmony is our friend!
A iconic jazz standard, Maestro Ralph Towner seems to almost make it is own.Wonderful.
an incredible player, BUT even better composer, one of the greatest of modern guitar.
Well, this solo is so good that it sounds like a duet.
i agree with you.Towner, Abercombrie,Goodrick, masters of harmony in guitar
classical technique, jazz rhythm and, individualistic harmonic concepts, what a master.
Simply stunning. Ralph just gets better with age.

I fall in love to easily with Ralph's technical prowess
I love the way Ralph plays guitar....and his style is unique!. Best to you, Ralph!

A grand master musician and a beautiful song. Bravo!
He creates both beautiful and melancholy feelings in this interpretation of a very fine jazzballad. And I really like the sound in his guitar.
Such a beautiful tone.
Fabulous guitar player, fabulous piano player, fabulous flugelhon player.
Stunning arrangement. Thanks for posting.
Magnifique !
Every bit as good as Lenny Breau's version. I fall in love with this too easily.
Beautifully Played
Beautifull playing
Seems impossible that someone could play like that. Yet he does. I've seen him in live performance, so its real.

bravissimo.just great
EXCELLENT!!!
so great
wonderful!!!
The nylon string guitar is the most expressive, balanced, and versatile guitar. Its just a pain in the neck to amplify.
Serapis true. I still haven't found a viable quick solution
….who needs an amplifier when the quality of his playing is all that counts
loved!
Go and hear the "Solo Concert" album in ECM. It is a masterpiece.

Sammy Cahn wrote the lyrics, Jule Styne wrote the music
@babinm Try Lenny Breau. Same kind of guy.
