The very last Furore concert, I'm afraid. Joyce DiDonato stepped in (with broken leg) for Rolando Villazon who had health problems. It was thus the only concert with Paul McCreesh conducting instead of Christophe Rousset.

Joyce is so artistically connected to this piece, that when I 1st heard the piece, Joyce was coaching Kayleigh Decker in 2016, & as she coached her through the process of committing to the imagery, I literally cried & had a spiritual moment; then, I thought, now a I know why some men & women cry when they 1st see their newborn. I was like, oh my, now I get it! It was so amazing to watch & hear the story of this "life giving eternal force within this tree".
I saw the session with Ms Decker as well. Ms DiDanto was incredibly brilliant with her interpretation of this piece.

It's always been a challenge for me to get the long crescendo at 2:14. I tend to go to fast and end up like a car horn at the end. I want so bad to have the amazing focus and pure pitch there. MORE WORK!
You might want to check out Franco Corelli does in his recording of the same piece at the same place. I won't give it away because it's so original and breath taking.
@@Markinsky Corelli butchers this piece! He sings it like grand opera, which it is *not!* It's Handel, and meant to be sung differently than Verdi, Puccini, et cetera!! If you want to hear this sung as close to perfectly as I have yet heard, simply search utube for *Ombra mai fu score.* Then listen, follow and learn! Good luck to you!!

HÄNDEL didn't write many instructions because he had creative control conducting and choosing singers. He also wrote different versions of the same aria depending on which singers were available

Soru but this is not a mezzo, the low notes are simply open chest notes and her upper register way too sopranoish.
Lyric coloratura mezzo . Tessitura higher than Baker or Hunt Lieberson but definitely not a soprano .
