Exactly. No matter who does it I find myself cringing everytime. Like I understand a lot of these celebs worked rlly hard to get the things they're flexing but it's just cringe
I agree. Actually I am buying a bag for a present. I had to look a lot around just to find a nice bag made in my country because everything was made of plastic, China or incredible expensive for just fabric. I ended finding a local brand with amazing reviews, great material and a fraction of an "afordable" brand price and with such a luxury design I feel I just want to buy it for me instead of giving it away... Really some of my best purshases are from local brands made with quality materials and handmade while most of my fancy "brands" clothes and accesories are for use and trow away.

@@Yournemesis_bub yeah, cause they're meant to attract superficial people who likes shallow music as long as it looks or sound cool, that's how it works
I think the main reason is that these 'artists' have nothing to say, hence the vacuous songwriting, a la YG groups e.g. Babymonster always rapping about 'pulling up', pedal to the medal', 'vroom vroom', 'Roll up on 'em with the motor runnin'. The manufactured system of kpop groups doubtfully attracts songwriting talents let alone (if the idols write their own lyrics) people with much proximity to real life, and means that almost by design they'll never have lyrics as potent and well written as artists like Joni Mitchell, The Smiths, even pop stars like MJ or Madonna
BTS of all bands should watch their hypocrisy because HYBE is arguably the worst when it comes toxic marketing and BTS has one of of the most rabid fanbases in kpop

True they don’t even get paid that much😂 and are must likely in debt this is a problem with the industry where idols just do what they’re told by their company they get borrow luxury things but it’s not handed to them
The audacity to flex right infront of my albums 💀 And then they'll be like - "this song is for the haters " Do you think haters listen to their music ?

You've completely missed the point of these songs. It's not to be taken literally. They make music in a genre that does this. It happens all the time in the West and BP music is also geared for the West.
@@vin3201 and you have completely missed the point that it does not matter if happens in the west (more rap thing to be always doing that), even singers who sing about one thing get hate, you going you act as every song here in the west talk about flexing? Western songs talk about love, heartbreak, hate, party and million of different things.
Great video. I've only been into KPop a couple of years and the first time I heard Lisa's Money I was shocked and disappointed. She's done a few other similar flexing tracks too. It actually kind of turned me off her.
3:38 bts flexes about their achievements as a singer, which is they are, and that makes it relevant for them to bring it up (billboard, mama, etc). more popular artists are common doing this in diss tracks, but what's so not enjoyable anymore is flexing how "rich" the idols, and the benchmark is becoming brand ambassador
yeah, honestly, the whole “flexing ‘I’m richer than everyone’ culture” is giving me narcissism/egotistic 💀. All idol’s song are mostly about being rich, having luxury life, or flexing their brands. When in truth, nobody give a damn about how rich you are, it’s means nothing. This is why I listen to BTS music more cause they do have deep meanings in their songs and tackle on topics that not so many idols aren’t open up to (mental health, problem in society, self-love, the consequences of fame, coming of age, and youth). In my opinion, I don’t find BTS bragging about their fame and success to be seen as “shallow” or “show off”, but more as them saying “hey, looks all of the achievements that we have to work hard to get where we are today”, BTS do open about their hardships, struggles, and the hate that they endured for 11 years ever since their debut and isn’t afraid of expressing their true self and identity in their music. edit: ok wow, yall can just say that you don’t disagree with my opinion, but no need to be rude about it 💀
Ikr they literally brag about their hardwork and how they have achieved milestones which is far better than flexing luxuries yoongi even mentioned capitalism in his song which barely any kpop artist talks about
Adding to the first part , most of them were born rich like real rich some of them born into old money , so I don't get it you're flexing going from rich to less rich and overworked and bullied online??
BTS bragged abt their achievements in their songs when they're calling out to the haters & ofc they bragged abt things they achieved in reality but now lots of k idols /grps sing of those achievements even when they haven't achieved those. I'm not meaning this in a rude way but it's really laughable bcz when BTS 'who actually achieved those' sang abt them k poppies were saying all the rude, dirty, disgusting things abt them but when other k acts sang abt the same things even when they haven't achieved anything they don't give a damn. The double standard between BTS & k pop is really...... & before I thought lisa released songs abt herself bcz it's YG's doing & have nothing to do with her at all bcz YG literally write, compose, produce all bp & members songs so i really didn't argued with those blinks even they were dragging BTS to their sh*tty comments. & then she released her new song where as they said she participated in writing that & that song was all abt herself too & her fans literally said it's a gift song for their fans like wtf??/It's a song abt she praising herself eventhough it has nothing to do with me & idc no matter how self obsessed she is/ her fans are but the problem is they always drag BTS & members to their comments like the can't live without talking dirty abt BTS

However from what I got, the song is about the younger generations struggles. They get low salaries and only have very small amounts of $ to save 4 the future. They dont have hope 4 things to get better. Should they struggle but still save even tho they cant enjoy their lives? Or should they spend it all today bcoz YOLO? Aperently RM said that GoGo is a sequal to Baepsae, so this meaning would make more sense
Almost every group seems to have a flexing track. I'm not opposed to the concept unilaterally. It can be clever or even sarcastic or innovative. But too often it's a cliche about money, clothes, beauty, and purported skill. I find it problematic when a rookie group has a flexing song about how they're the best and unbeatable. Their first track out the gate is about how they're on top and their skill is the best. That's just embarrassing for them. And then it's a problem when it's the only thing a group seems to do. Comeback after comeback, the lyrics are all a variation of 'I'm the best. I'm better than your girlfriend. Money, money, diamonds.' recycled, lazy, cringe. Also, if you have to keep telling people you're the best, it's because no one thinks you are.
Okay, don't get me wrong but I have heard three solo musics of Lisa Money, Rockstar and Lalisa I don't know why I felt all of her lyrics are very self centered, just talking about her, I would luv if she sings on some else topic other than her tbh rockstar lyrics doesn't make any sense at all, that's something a newbie would come up with, or maybe even better If she got any other solo music tell me I will check that
@@Analou13 For one time lyrics describing urself sounds fine but everytime sounds narcissist, I have heard Solo, U and me, flower, Love me again, Slow dancing, Come back to me, Lost and so on all of these are solo music too, It doesn't mean that if it's solo it needs to be about the singer, I wonder how IU, Jessie's carrier would look like if ur statements made sense that it's her solo, it's about her
@@kumarisunaina4151it doesnt have to be about the singer but neither does it have to be about someone else. @@Analou13 Yeah, it would have made sense if it was meant for a single one but all 3 of her solo songs are just bragging abt her success that she got money, name, fame it's not wrong to sing for once but every time sounds narcissist and abt rockstar lyrics I was not talking abt that particular one but any person who focuses on lyrics would be hella disappointed listening to rock star any other artist who's been in this industry for years would have definitely come up with something better even these days newbies come with better lyrics
Flexing about money could be bearable for one song. But repeating it again and again and then making it your theme and concept is pretty embarrassing. It shows your narcissm. The fact that some groups do it from their debut like 'Hey we are better' and honestly i won't ever stan them.
I don't think any of these songs are released to 'brag' or 'flex'. It's just a sign that they have nothing to say and little artistry or songwriting ability, especially if they've cultivated an image or fanbase where meaningful lyrics would be unusual. Songs with subject matter like 'flexing' or another one YG can't resist - 'when we pull up you know it's a shut down, pull up in the lambo, vroom vroom click clack pedal to the medal, roll up on 'em with the motor runnin' - owning a vehicle, require very little effort or talent and the fans lap it up so why not?
Finally someone who speaks my inner voice recently i gotso disappointed abt lisa her albums were literally narcissistic and self centred like abt her and her wealth ((if u clearly see its really overrated except the song money , including money lalisa rockstar every thing is abt her none of them represent a clear meaning,,i can only talk abt this issue here cause im a armyblink if i say so in other channel they blame that i am double standard,,..
I was especially shocked, that she went on writing flexing lyrics despite being now in charge of everything in her own label. That means it was not dictated by yg...she wants to write her song like this and paint this picture. And I am really shocked, that so many people seem to be okay with that...and praise her...? I don't understand.
Tbh I never liked her solo songs genuinely. Her fans tried to make "Lalisa" look like it's a song about self love but trust me no matter how little knowledge I have about music but ik that this isn't a proper song. All her songs sounds like she's just here to flex & do nothing else. I'm someone who might not be vocally trained but I have grown-up with a classical background so for me a song atleast needs to be melodious as well as have meaningful lyrics. Call me 90's kid/ old fashioned idc~
@@mariewerner3613 You speak as if it's a bad thing to sing about success. Because both Lalisa and Rockstar speak of her success & how far she's come and also boasts about her talent. It’s the flexing culture in western pop and rap that turned me off both genres till I found BTS. I used to like some pop and political/cultural rap but as it was more vapid I stopped following it. Same with my initial stereotype of K-pop. Great discussion to have.

The fact that Korea is a nouveau riche country helps too. They went from being a Japanese colony to a civil war to a fascist dictatorship all in the last century, that's insane. They just started to enjoy wealth
Yeah, it's weird and cringe to brag about your wealth to your fans. Like, why would you flex and say that you are better than the people who support you , stream you, and basically pay your bills? The problem is that some K-pop idols are getting cocky and neglecting their fans.

I had to Google to double check, I read before about Korea being the world’s largest spender of luxury goods. So it’s pretty on brand. I agree though. I’ve been a kpop fan for over 10 years and I don’t remember 2nd gen groups showing off this much. Like even GD was more humble imo.
This is why i love bts. They are so rich but you won't see them flexing about it.Even their insta posts are about them not to promote brands.Ofc,they do have some posts but they didnt let that to become their whole personality. And,most of idols rent those clothes and they resell those outfits. So,they are not rich as they look
I don't get it why they have to show off how rich and luxurious they are even in their songs, "I'm rich and I have money and get a lot of brand deals so you are lazy because you're not like me" that's like almost all they focus on especially if they have dissess or songs about haters, yeah show off how rich you are but you're not better than anyone and not even your haters because of it especially if you call them lazy. Your fans gave you that luxury with their streams they dont sleep just to give u (not cool) and money, most of your fans who listen to your songs do not have luxury, I feel like kind of attacked when i listen to my fave and it's a song like that cuz... what did I do to u
you are really brave to open about this but im thankful you did kpop lyrics are nowadays mostly about money being rich ,mocking poors, promoting brands that makes no sense like they can still make song without putting others down even if its a Diss track dissing someone by mocking them that they are poor that's why they are hater seems childish and ridiculous at the same time
The only problem I have with their flexing (which I can't really blame the idols for) is when fans break the bank to buy merch that they can hardly afford just to keep up 👀 .. Like you're literally maxing out your credit card/ accruing debt to purchase that branded bag or shoes or jacket ... just for bragging rights bc your fave has the same! Total insanity. If you can afford it, good for you! But if you're borrowing money or digging into your savings then you are an 1DIOT🤡 sorry ..These are luxury items NOT necessities. FOMO is a disease fr. Statements like "Dior jacket sells out in minutes after Jhope photoshoot" .. like whaaat?? Like I said, if you can afford it then go off. But it does promote consumerism/ classism
The way I've seen a kpop confessions were people admit to have done se× work (even if you technically don't know if they are telling the truth, the fact I wouldn't even feel that surprised is insane). It's ridiculous
But isn't it South Korea generally? I've seen documentaries about people getting into debt to have plastic surgery and to buy designer clothes. I love SK house tours, but so many people seem to have clothes rooms. Not even walk-in wardrobes, but entire rooms.
Storytime: Few days ago, I standing beside a lady in the bus stop, just in front of a mall. She waiting for her cab and having her conversation with her friend. She was carrying 8 bags full of Calvin Klein bags..each had maybe 3-4 garments. Since i was standing near that lady, i heard she 80% of what she bought that day are for her daughter because her daughter is a fan of JUNGKOOK, she wanted everything that Jungkook wore for his photoshoots!! Even as a fashion student, I will say, Fashion is Art, Brand is Money. Obviously, some of the outfits that your idols wear are unique, use different types silhouettes, might also use new pure blended fabrics or even have new styles. But that can charge you to upto maximum $450. Any outfit priced above $450 is priced as such just because of the marketing cost that goes in. Nothing ethical goes on further. Especially, the ready-to-wear line of clothing! So please. K-pop fans, use brain before anything else. Afterall, you are here to profit, or rather, help for the artists' growth, not the financial value of the brands they are in! PEACE!
When I listen to rockstar I was like why would she put brand name in her songs it's stupid and Japanese and shi As a lyricism focused person She did that before as well And money is just
Its about the stereotype that asians are only japanese and chinese and correct me if im wrong but im pretty sure lisa does get mistaken for japanese because there is a japanese singer called liSA
@@Lia-yu6qc bro I'll be r3al here, I was a big blink I'm not that big fan anymore tbh, bcz their music is really shallow now ( which is not wrong to make fun songs once in a while but) , all her music is about bluffing and showing off about her status and money Which started with her solo But you really have no need to mention brands in the songs, I mean why ? It's not even permanent Being an idol it's obvious idols will be involved in such deals but as a person you don't just make it your whole personality Writing them in songs and all Maybe if she will make good songs alongside it will be ignorable But nah
I do agree that it's more about showing the whole picture. Because saying, "I'm rich, I have money and expensive stuff." Comes off as arrogant, but speaking about how your past made your current life seemingly impossible makes it a lot more inspiring for their fans. Especially if a fan is in the financial place, where the idol once was. I think It's definitely about the delivery too. I love rap music, and some I listen to do rap about a lot of flexing, but the wordplay, flow is important too. If you're going to rap about the same thing, make it creative. Which a lot of udols don't.
@@kkentaii i understand that now flexing culture is more present in K-pop now but OP says that it's ALL about the money which is not true. It's just a portion of K-pop. I do agree that it's more present now but K-pop has not had such a drastic change to the extent that we can't find a single K-pop song that doesn't have anything to do with money, wealth, status etc.
also many items and endorsements are literally just paid advertising, celebrities often wear clothes and accessories they don't even own but are given by a brand to advertise, even when they don't explicitly say they're being paid to wear something. them choosing every piece just because they like a certain style or brand is an illusion that's just another part of the ad
Though I don't think flexing culture is that big issue apart from it being cring. I like to add idols should collaborate with fashion brands after knowing their histroy of current status . I didn't like when Jungkook wore Balenciaga clothes. Like man , that brand is so shedy . That runway with children was all over the news , how come you would promote their clothes ?
Yoongi literally said slave to flexing and some blinks are really disgusting i saw on tiktok blinks where making fun of hiw bts house are not expensive because jennie have a luxurious house in korean and she also have a house in usa and they were making fun of how some groups live in dorm they don't have there own house
Yoongi's house is huge tho, txt Taehyun said but I feel like Yoongi likes houses who he is comfortable to be in, comfortable to do the things he always does. He doesn't care about the prices if it's not really expensive but as long as he's comfty.
Yoongi lives in some special area where the elite rich people of south Korea lives and I thought Jennie and him lived in the same area? Or is it Jin living there?
I actually hate it. There are so many important topics they could write lyrics about but they decide to make "I`m so rich, I`m so cool and i can buy whatever i want" a thing.
I'm not into flexing, don't aspire any brands etc. But I find it a bit confusing why Kpop is selected out, when that is an all world connecting thing. Celebrities in the US, UK, China, Russia, Australia, Indonesia, Saudi Arabia etc are not different to SK idols. Capitalism in itself is a very big problem because of ecology. These idols face the problem though, that if they don't play by the game, they go down, as every company wants to earn as much money as possible and not just pay the idols to make music/dance. The fans as well, no matter in what country, expect that and are instanly taken back or feel bored if it doesn't happen.
Really successful and rich person doesnt need to flex, everyone know it or they just dont need public attention. How it says - money and happiness love the silence, or something like that, dont remember.
Exactly BTS just like the western artist flex about working hard to their way up to become icons and never shits about having brand recognition. Its soo cheap
@@Aizannn How is it cheap? Those who have flex about their brands have earned them. Why are you kpop stans so toxic? What's actually cheap is to hate on successful people lol and yeah not every song is about that, people need to listen other songs as well before making baseless claims.

This is why I'm an ARMY. BTS doesn't make me feel inferior at all with the very little flexing they do. Their lyrics actually have meaning. I do like some kpop songs too, but it's really disappointing how much flexing there is in it. I mostly like kpop songs for the beats and choreography only really. Other groups I like that make me feel similar to BTS are TXT and SEVENTEEN. I know they all endorse things too, so they're not perfect, but the point I'm trying to make is that they personally don't make me feel inferior as a lower financial class person. I wouldn't call myself poor since I do have a roof over my head, enough food, a dog whom I love very much and am even able to buy something extra for myself at times. But I don't think that there's a real middle class anymore either. Not what used to be "middle class" anyway. So I don't really know what to call it exactly.
I agree with every single thing you discussed here and I love that you mentioned how these seemingly "unimportant" matters contribute to big issues in society and the survival of the planet. Thank you for this
Thanks for educating me on this topic ❤ I never liked luxury items but seeing many people flaunt their bags, shoes or clothes I kind of started feeling inferior to them, my family obviously can't afford such exavagrance because to them food is first and education is second so when you said that the fact you can afford food and are financially stable I felt secure in myself and learned that I am good with what I have and I will always make sure to do my research before buying clothes/bags/shoes from websites online
Flexing is of different types. The idols who flex about their ACHIEVEMENTS, who call out their haters and diss them and ask them to look at them now that they made it so big, are my favorite honestly. Because nothing is a better slap to their faces than that. BTS' rapline's flexing makes me go ballistic Istg. The way they spit fire while calling out the haters in the most polite disrespectful way is crazy (Ddaeng and UGH is my life and soul). Same with some songs of SKZ. 3racha know how to shade well lol. But flexing about money? Even brand works sometimes because duh, some brands ARE huge deals. But the second the song becomes ALL about brand and money? Yeah no, I am out. It gives narcissist at best. Considering how HARD kpop idols work, flexing is their right imo. But at least flex about the right things? The things that matter? The things that will make people proud of YOU being PROUD of yourself like "Yes, you go darling, be confident."
BTS has deep messages in their songs because they tell their stories in their lyrics, which other idols don't achieve because they don't write their lyrics, or even help with the composition, so don't expect us to take you as a complete artist when you're just there to follow choreographies, look cute, and record lyrics that someone else wrote.
It’s the weirdest when Stans say their faves are rich when like 80% of them make less than $100 a day…… and even the cheap brand cut outfits are so cringe
I think materialistic mindset runs in Korea. I once watched a whole video on the analysis of how young Koreans only want expensive brands’ things. That’s what K-pop is reflecting too.
I stan BTS, SEVENTEEN AND TXT Never got disappointed by any of these groups' comebacks. Be it lyrics, mv's and the concepts. It's just all unique and I find flexing near to nowhere. But as a blink I was really disappointed by BP's comebacks and specially the solos, they are cringe asf...and Lisa and Jennie has to be one of the most flexing ones like whyy GURL we know 😭😭
Ngl, I always thought that when a group/idol makes a song flexing about their monetary life it's automatically directed to their haters, like- when a group is so famous like BTS or BP they obviously going to have a lot of haters, so the flexing songs are like a way of saying "keep talking trash, I'm still richer than you". I never thought of it as a bad thing or a call-out to poor people lol. But I might change my mind.
i’m american so i feel like this isn’t very kpop specific? it’s something here, and in korea, ans a bunch of other countries. i feel like there’s less of this in kpop honestly, most of the kpop songs i hear don’t have any flexing in it? i can only think of blackpink. and i never really thought of it this way because it doesn’t make me jealous or feel lesser than, i just think the songs are catchy.
I once saw kfans hating their fav group because they were wearing casual clothes n didn't wear branded and luxury clothes in fansign😂stans also flexes that my idol endorses luxury brand and yours nugu.
I'm honestly unfamiliar with k-pop, i do listen to some songs from the 2000s-2010s but that's pretty much all I know. I've heard (I don't know if it's true) that a lot of k-pop idols and korean celebrities weren't as rich as they claimed to be and actually rented the luxury clothes, car, etc... they claim to have, and do a lot of deals with designers so they can have free luxury clothes. I don't know if it's true for a big part of those people but I'm sure that it's the case for some. The flexing culture is honestly weird, especially since the fans are the main consumers. The idols shouldn't forget that they are where they are actually because of their fans support. It's quite unsettling how luxury is a big thing in Korea, I even saw a documentary where some students would endebt themselves just to own a luxury bag. While those students should think by themselves, I think the celebrities should still consider the imapct their actions should have on their own fans that they claim to love.
This is a fantastic video. Flexing in a post pandemic world does seem very tone deaf. And fans just going along with it not realising how much in poor taste it is is even worse. But then again, if the pandemic couldn’t bring celebrity worship down, I doubt anything but the end of the world can. I liked the examples you gave here, like the comparison between Mic drop and Money. The problem, I think, with a lot of kpop flex songs, is that these are not personally written by the people singing them, so they are not contextualised to be meaningful or sound better. These songs are made to sell. It’s just a product of what’s trendy. Hence, the difference between something like mic drop and something like Money. And as for the 500$ wal mart dress drama, if that 500$ dress makes her a Walmart version, then what are you(talking about the person who called her that)?🤔 What are probably probably 99% of the world’s population? These fans need to stop believing that an idol’s accomplishment is their own. It’s not like they are the ones wearing that 5000$ dress. Nothing wrong with being proud of how far they’ve come, but something is very wrong if it makes you elitist and classist.
These days, idols, instead of introducing themselves with names and cute taglines, are routinely proclaiming with taglines young and rich! Unless you're young, you can't be an idol. Some brands give them free products. Idols are so happy and repeat. During the live, I got these products from them. They are using you and free propagation of the products without paying 😂. Some idols recently got minor injury but still attending fashion week with injury travelling 13hr for a show. Problem is they skip the music shows and make dull faces to audience. Brands making idols lose the passion towards work and audience.
People honestly need to realize that the " stars " don't OWN all these items. 90% is on loan from a designer or the stylist. Including purses, makeup, jewelry, glasses, accessories.
me coming across w this video just yesterday read an article in a Korean platform about how Gen Alpha kids press their parents about having NJ Hanni's bag or Ive Wonyoung's bag and it's a thing majority of kids in schools become obsessed w their fave idols brand items and the kids who does not have it receive mocking and bullying.
Its okay with me if its about one or two songs but if you literally start making your whole ass album about money, fame and how beautiful u r then definitely no.
The "flexing culture " is nothing new, it's been in western music for decades, hell, the original rap battles were all about how you were better than the other person in every way.
Im fine with flexing if the group are like bts, seventeen, gidle, groups that came from the bottom cuz you know they buold themselves up. I just hate when a group fhat already achieved popularity before debut and they sang about their impact in kpop industry and how much money they have, im not like other girls, i wear chanel, gucci, etc.
As an army, I sometimes wish BTS didn't endorse luxury brands but seems like Korean society at the moment really values them. Hopefully they become more aware soon.
Didn't Lisa made her own brand? Then, how is she under control of the company, if she is the one controlling the brand? (No hate to Lisa, but, it's just common sense).
Sometimes the problem is, people compare their lifestyles to these artists and they start to feel discouraged because they don't have what they have. Trying to convince yourself that your lifestyle needs to be like theirs and that's how life should be, will only set you up for disappointment. Be happy with what you have and make the best of what you got!
In all honesty, after watching this video, though I do agree with what she said, there is really nothing we can do about it, and honestly, I don’t really care whether they flex or not. I hope, however, that this video is a reminder to not compare yourself with idols or any other celebrities financially wise :).
Even so, I concur with what you mentioned. I lay the blame with the fans. K-Pop is a result of materialism and consumerism. Therefore, what they are doing is expected and not surprising. Fans must be pragmatic. Do not hold the idol industry in high regard. Even if some idols have endorsed the SDGs, it doesn't indicate that they share the same values personally. It is preferable to have modest expectations. K-Pop is an exportable good whose only job is to boost South Korea's economy and soft power. Fans will no longer be impacted by the toxicity if they can think rationally.
And that s why i cant stand bp songs, even if they got the best sound the lyrics are just trash, I prefer all the other gg in 4 and 5 gen ❤ I like songs that I can feel, like having a crush, a broken heart, something meaningful or just a funny/catchy song like supernova.

Even as a fashion student, I will say, Fashion is Art, Brand is Money. Obviously, some of the outfits that your idols wear are unique, use different types silhouettes, might also use new pure blended fabrics or even have new styles. But that can charge you to upto maximum $450. Any outfit priced above $450 is priced as such just because of the marketing cost that goes in. Nothing ethical goes on further. Your voice is so pleasant to hear ❤
Thanks for educating me on this topic ❤
I never liked luxury items but seeing many people flaunt their bags, shoes or clothes I kind of started feeling inferior to them, my family obviously can't afford such exavagrance because to them food is first and education is second so when you said that the fact you can afford food and are financially stable I felt secure in myself and learned that I am good with what I have and I will always make sure to do my research before buying clothes/bags/shoes from websites online
The things that will make people proud of YOU being PROUD of yourself like "Yes, you go darling, be confident."
wdgf
BTS has deep messages in their songs because they tell their stories in their lyrics, which other idols don't achieve because they don't write their lyrics, or even help with the composition, so don't expect us to take you as a complete artist when you're just there to follow choreographies, look cute, and record lyrics that someone else wrote.
It’s the weirdest when Stans say their faves are rich when like 80% of them make less than $100 a day…… and even the cheap brand cut outfits are so cringe
I find it so fr cringe we all know being a kpop idol doesn't make you the richest person in the world...😂
I think materialistic mindset runs in Korea. I once watched a whole video on the analysis of how young Koreans only want expensive brands’ things. That’s what K-pop is reflecting too.
I stan BTS, SEVENTEEN AND TXT
Never got disappointed by any of these groups' comebacks. Be it lyrics, mv's and the concepts. It's just all unique and I find flexing near to nowhere.
But as a blink I was really disappointed by BP's comebacks and specially the solos, they are cringe asf...and Lisa and Jennie has to be one of the most flexing ones like whyy GURL we know 😭😭
"Constantly talking about money and cars, what a disgrace to art"
HAHAHAHA i love that song 😂
especially when they started twerking 😭

Gurl u are always so honest in your videos that's why I subscribed to you ^_^
Ngl, I always thought that when a group/idol makes a song flexing about their monetary life it's automatically directed to their haters, like- when a group is so famous like BTS or BP they obviously going to have a lot of haters, so the flexing songs are like a way of saying "keep talking trash, I'm still richer than you". I never thought of it as a bad thing or a call-out to poor people lol. But I might change my mind.
really appreciate your input, much needed reminder especially to young kpop fans!
i’m american so i feel like this isn’t very kpop specific? it’s something here, and in korea, ans a bunch of other countries. i feel like there’s less of this in kpop honestly, most of the kpop songs i hear don’t have any flexing in it? i can only think of blackpink. and i never really thought of it this way because it doesn’t make me jealous or feel lesser than, i just think the songs are catchy.
I once saw kfans hating their fav group because they were wearing casual clothes n didn't wear branded and luxury clothes in fansign😂stans also flexes that my idol endorses luxury brand and yours nugu.
(gq) why idols are "involved" in the consumerism of their fans? i mean, how idols are "promoting" that?
Exactly
It’s not K-pop culture, it’s rap culture.
Good video. I have always been indifferent to flexing because I have no love life and that's the only thing I really care about 😭
I agree with your every argument
I agree with bts part ❤
"The things you own ends up owning you".
can u also make a video how problematic wonyeong and her group, creating unrealistic standards for their fans and in the kpop industry
Can you please elaborate on this?
how??
girl she’s just skinny 😭
@@nahyei she already made a video on Wonyoungism, if that's what you're looking for. But it's not Wonyoung's or Ive's fault that it happens...
girl what….
Literally bp songs and Lisa's solo career basically 💀☝️
Its okay with me if its about one or two songs but if you literally start making your whole ass album about money, fame and how beautiful u r then definitely no.
9:20 comparing your idols worth based on the cloths they wear is wierd
So you won't see their talent at all now ??
Danke!
Thank you🫶
i loved how bts would wear clothes from unknown brands or up and starting designers and companies. i hope they do that more in the future
I think admin is lisa hater...
Didn't Lisa made her own brand? Then, how is she under control of the company, if she is the one controlling the brand?
(No hate to Lisa, but, it's just common sense).
Flexing is a thing which is problematic with entire South Korea. Capitalism and materialism had caused these flexing songs to come out.
Twice never flexes❤
Blackpink and lisa flex the most 😂
Even so, I concur with what you mentioned.
And that s why i cant stand bp songs, even if they got the best sound the lyrics are just trash, I prefer all the other gg in 4 and 5 gen ❤
I like songs that I can feel, like having a crush, a broken heart, something meaningful or just a funny/catchy song like supernova.
tell this to NCT 😂😂😂 they forever singing about money, cars and baddies lol
