Rancho Park Golf Course: Part 1 (Pinecone GC vs. Penmar Social Club Ryder Cup 2023)

Opened in 1949 and designed by the team of William P. Bell and William Johnson, Rancho Park has been a cornerstone of the LA golf scene since it's opening. A rotational host of the PGA Tour's LA Open from 1956 all the way up to 1983, the course has no shortage of challenge and strategic questions to be asked. The ball must be shaped both ways to avoid the looming trees and open up the best angles into these sloped but deceivingly small greens. Add to that the pressure of a Ryder Cup-style Sunday Singles match against crosstown rivals, it's all a sicko like me could ask for. But could I deliver?
