- The Biggest DOG That Ever Roamed The Earth
In a world of Minpins and Chihuahuas, anybody who walks by with a German Shepherd looks like they have a humongous dog. In fact, when you see a Great Dane walking along with its owner, you may feel like that’s the biggest dog in the world. Now, they stack up quite nicely against the wild canines of the world, but even still, there are wolves that are bigger than that. And that’s just when we talk about the living canines of the world, because if you want to know about the biggest dog that ever walked planet Earth, you have to go back a lot further. And this particular canine… he is going to be a lot bigger.

Gaur would beat a giraffe
@@gokuvegeta9500Doubtful. A giraffe's kick can generate an impact of 2000 PSI, not to mention that it's much taller and heavier than gaur.
@@Burastoburn
A Gaur could tank that kick but if he connects with his horns on the giraffes slender legs the giraffe wouldn't be able to walk and it's a death sentence
For reference, male lions hunt male giraffes all the time but male tigers don't hunt fully grown male gaurs in their prime.
That's how strong and robust a male gaur is. It's attack and defence are both way too good.
The giraffe has only a good attack

Would it fetch a stick?
it would fetch a tree.. then swipe you with it
still no match against felines
Yeah since they were the ones who drove them to extinction alongside other more “modern” dogs which was an ancient species of wolf. It depends on the felid though.
The biggest dog ever was a bear.
Bears aren’t dogs.
@@Theperson4101
Disagree.(Obviously)
@@whitemale6227 idiot I’m not to be rude, but bears are in dogs. They’re just bigger dogs, but they’re not related to dogs. They’re kind of but not.
@@whitemale6227 Their in the same sub order okay? But that doesn’t mean their related by that logic hyenas would be cats and raccoons would be dogs too.
@@Theperson4101
You are over and underhinking this. Im making a friendly suggestion of mind, that bears look and act very much like dogs.
But if you wanna get serious, its actually possible to reach the same behaviour and look without being related for millions of years. So in that aspect a dog could arise from another species.

Epicyon haydeni is the largest known canid of all time, with the type species reaching 2.4 m (7.9 ft) in length, 90 cm (35 in) in shoulder height and approximately 100-125 kg (220-276 lb) in body mass. The largest known humerus specimen belonged to an individual weighing up to 170 kg (370 lb).
Great Danes have no connection to Denmark at all. The name has been changed in English as a result of WW I. It is a German breed of large mastiff-sighthound, which descends from hunting dogs of the Middle Ages used to hunt bears, wild boar, and deer. The original real name is Deutsche Dogge
Wow! I wonder if this worlds largest canine lived at the same time as the short faced bear which was also a huge top predator long ago & if so & they encountered each other, that would have been 1 hell of a battle or fight.
This must've been Amber Heard dog. The one that left that monstrosity on the bed
Lame video giving irrelevant info instead of getting to the video.
He talking like he had a camera way back then and saw this dog in action.

The Epicyon Haydeni was no bigger than a Jaguar. People really like to overestimate this dog.
That's not an overestimation. FAM 61455 which is the largest epicyon skull and possibly the largest epicyon specimen ever discovered belongs to an individual that is estimated to have weighed a least 175.7kgs using the latest modern mass estimation techniques. In comparison, the largest jaguar ever recorded was a big male weighing up 143 kg on an empty stomach which is still a whole 30 plus kgs less than the canid here. You would surely need a prehistoric jaguar to match the canid in terms of mass.
@@Ihavenolife2008-z4t Firstly, ‘6145’ I don’t know what your tryna say here lmao.
I’m talking about the average Jaguar and average epicyon haydeni. The average epicyon weighed 250lbs while an average pantanal Jaguar weighs 240lbs
In an actual fight a Jaguar would destroy that thing. They have a much more robust body with a robust skull and powerful jaw structure. Their biteforce is 1500-2000PSI and they have razor sharp claws along with a very impressive acrobatic build.
The epicyon actually had weak stamina and was instead an ambush hunter. It only had a good bite and size and nothing else.
You dog fanatics just can’t accept the epicyon is one of the most overrated prehistoric predators. Even a leopard would wipe the floor with your puppy. Face reality.
@@Ihavenolife2008-z4t You basically gave no sources in your original reply to justify your arguments. And you don’t even try make a counter argument to my points. You are only capable of throwing bland insults instead of giving actual reasonable points.
And I honestly don’t want to hear from a random stranger who can’t even use the correct measurement system for something or actually acknowledge the fact the largest epicyon specimen was only the weight of a Sumatran tiger male.
So Mr know it all, maybe you should put in the research and give a reason for me to debate YOU. Infact I should be the one saying that to you.
@@Theperson4101 There is no point in countering what's already pointless. The Epicyon Haydeni specimen that I mentioned is pretty well known in the paleon community and has been used in multiple studies and the results were all very similar. All of these studies concluded that this individual is 170kgs or more with the recent well-known study about "Habitat changes and changing predatory habits in North American fossil canids" estimating this animal at 175.7kgs using the latest technique in size estimation. To say that this animal is no more than 120kgs equivalent to saying that the prehistoric Smilodon populator is no bigger than 200kgs as the Smildon populator is also given a mass of 470kgs using the same method which is regarded as the most accurate way of estimating the mass of extinct animals up to date.
@@Ihavenolife2008-z4t Again I don’t know where you’re getting that from, only largest E.Haydeni specimens could actually peak over 170kg.
The smilodon only averaged 750lbs and only some very large ones exceeded the 1000lbs mark.
You’re very clearly confusing the average predator with the heaviest predator. Maybe I worded things I’m not sure.
Lol he is saying great dane 28 inches tall lol mostly great danes taller than 30"
