So to clarify few things for the viewers , the college in the video is University of Maryland- College park! And personally I’ve never felt unsafe at any time. It’s like any other campus, a lot of things happen and it’s pretty common. This campus is 40 miles away from Baltimore. And college park is one of the safest college towns. The campus escort service is to enhance the safety measures on campus. Personally I’ve roamed around the campus at 4-5 am many times and have never felt unsafe at any point!

I truly think that this video over emphasizes the idea that college park is "unsafe". The area that he referred to in the beginning of the video is a 40 minute drive away. College park itself is like any college campus: there are going to be drunk people and crazy people no matter where you go. We do have a service called NITE ride, but a big reason is that UMD is a very big campus and there are buses that run throughout the day. NITE ride is an extension of that service to get around campus at night.
When I was younger I used to think how cool it is US that they can have gun. But from past few years I think it's better to live in Kashmir than in US.

The test is amazing , I scored 120 in Duolingo. The only thing is when you are taking the test, you should not look anywhere other than laptop screen or else the test will get rejected and you have to retake the test. I got rejected 3times and I made it in the 4th time.

For those indians who still want to go usa. I would recommend not to bcz i have been following rap culture of US for about 3 years and came to know a lot about gang violence in year 2020 a total of around 150 rappers "reported" dead by gun violence and 2021 its count increases to 250
And also if u will follow the rap community of US u will also get to know that how this gang members are allowed to freely live in usa. Like they talk about killing each other on radio station and on social media still nobody takes an action. And also u have to always remember on which street u are walking and what clothes or cap u are wearing cuz if u had the opposite gang cap or shirt on you they will shoot u without a single thought. Plus the racism has also increased nowadays against asian especially like even black hoods are attacking asians especially if u look like u are japanese or punjabi. I would agree that it is expensive but it is set to be least expensive aas possible, the heavy pricing is only due to the fact that the paper has to be sent overseas and have to be returned for evaluation.... Im studying CBSE outside India, So during boards our fees for the exam is around 12,000 rupees which is more expensive than SAT. AND yet, the SAT exam experience is much better...

Atleast that's not the case in India and especially IITs. I myself studying at IIT Kharagpur and I can assure you that going for a night out (anytime at night, doesn't matter it could be 2-3 am as well). So, India is alot safer than US, owing to the fact that you don't have to ask the police to escort you personally.

@@NiranjanBendre yeah in Kolkata I can, maybe it doesn't have fancy theme parks or Universities topping QS World Rankings, but it is the safest city in India, a country where civilian armament is strictly prohibited. Civilian armament is the first sign of a weak government because then government has essentially acknowledged that it cannot provide enough protection to it's own citizens and that's why they have to carry their own weapons, whether or not they really want to.

I would say any college you would not want to roam around alone at night. I personally have never felt unsafe at night on UMD's campus and many times its just me and another girl exploring. There's a lot going on (as it is a college campus), so just being cognizant of your surroundings is important. Again, I would say any college campus has the same amount of risks.
I would just want to add that this video is nice as it gives an insight into UMD, but I would take it with a grain of salt. There's many more things that he couldn't possibly cover and to use this solely as your information about UMD would be an inaccurate portrayal. Again, this is a very good video but do your research as well.

Quite the timing
I was evacuated from my home yesterday because there was a shootout 4 houses down my house where a robber entered a house, found guns, and shot at police from inside the house! Total event was 3-4 hours. We were evacuated for less than couple of hours. 😬 eventually the suspect gave up and there were no casualties only some property damage.
Police did a good job. Friends found out and offered help. All safe eventually! 👍
