scissors? ha! i strip cables with a box cutter. always undercut and then twist (the insulation , not the blade). the insulation will come right off after twisting it.
Glad that works for you. I know most experienced techs do that. A lot of my viewers are newer techs so I'm trying to help them avoid rookie mistakes with a method that will give them more consistency until they get better at more advanced methods.
@fieldtechacademy to be honest I am doing it because it's more consistent. When I try any fancy strippers, they cut too far. It's the same as digging through wires to find a cable in a bundle. You see shapes with your fingers pretty quickly. Meaning that you get a mental image from the touch. I don't mind using tools when they are useful. in fact I prefer it. But using cable strippers is honestly just less reliable. I do carry a wire stripper for individual wires. But that's rarely useful in low voltage work. I've only used it for sound wires.
I have the Klein 32314 electronics screwdriver. It has a great grip and has the reversible bits I like. But it doesn’t have a PH1/PH2. Is there a spare part I can buy, or another product I could get instead?
I ran into that same problem. I don't understand why they don't include Phillips and slotted. In the description of the video I have an Amazon shopping list for my hip pouch. I put the PH1 and PH2 Phillips/slotted tips in that list so techs could order the ones that fit the Klein driver.
