Did you pick up on the reference to Nicholas earlier in the show? When Louie comes across Lily talking to Lestat, he was speaking French, and she said she had no idea what he said. Louie translates it for her as "only the impossible can do the impossible". As a reader of the books, I'm sure you'll recognize this as something Nicholas said to him.
This show excels in casting, Sam Reid is the perfect Lestat, they made Louis likeable and his bloom is completely understandable, thanks to Jacob for that, Daniel is one of my faves in the books but this show placed him in number 1, I loved Eric Bogosian's channeling his inner Anthony Bourdain. All in all, 10/10 show. And you're 100% right, this show is good in luring you with the romantic drama and then it slaps you in the face with the reminder that this is a gothic horror story first and foremost.
Finally getting around to watching your reactions! I just wanted to tell you some things just in case no one else has done it: around minute 16:05 you mentioned that Lestat talked so beautifully about Louis, and he does, but not in that particular moment, he was talking about Nicolas de Lenfent, a significant character in Lestat's life, and you'll know about him further in the future. I know you believe that Lestat had something to do with Paul's dead, and someone else told you that it is not like that, you choose your truth, I want to believe that Lestat didn't do it because he didn't in the books and because Paul was simply a victim of his mental health problems, but the show as of now hasn't done anything to disprove that, the show can very well change it up.
The intensity and sensuality in the love making scenes is so hot. Im not usually into man on man as i view men as quite shallow but the romance, intense chemistry and beautiful men drew me in. Great adaptation and your reaction made me laugh thanks 😊
Vampire weddings are so dramatic. Neither of the characters is Scottish, but there's a Scots expression, "As sure as a fight at a wedding," that seems fitting here. The actors are so good. You should check out _The Newsreader_ with Sam Reid if you haven't seen it yet--a very different character.
I'm so excited that you're reacting to this. This is one of the best pilot's I've ever seen. I was into the movie and the books when I was in high school but hadn't thought about Anne Rice in years. My expectations were really low when I started watching and I was completely blown away by this series. It was one of my two absolute I favorites of 2022. Can't wait to see what you think of the rest!
About time lol lestat doesn't have mind control power but others do but he has a lot of other gifts he is toxic as hell it's gothic and beautiful can't wait for you to watch more

Lestat does possess the mind control gift, along with telepathy, the fire gift and the cloud gift....among other things.
I really enjoyed the first episode! Jacob Anderson's acting in the church scene is outstanding !! I wondered if Lestat fell in love with Louis at first sight, why did he flirt with Lilly in front of him? Do you think Lestat would have killed Louis or changed him by force if he said no ?
I had only watched the movie a week ago before starting the series. They both left me intrigued and dramatically seduced. The characters to me are very similar to Twilight characters. Louis is like Edward and Jasper as Lestat reminds me of James, Carlisle, and Aro. 🧛🏻♂️🧛🏾🩸⚰️🖤❤️🩶
"I hear bible thumpin'; I get defensive." ~ChillyBoy...and Lestat.
Just a little clarification: lestat didn't kill louis' brother, it's been confirmed by the author that lestat had nothing to do w that!
Oh wow! Thanks for watching with me and providing the extra insight!
@@ChillyBoyProductionsThe show is an adaptation. They’ve changed quite a bit and could change that part too.
Yeah, I thought it was a Masterclass ad for a bit, but then there was no Skip Ads thing.
"A boy of infinite beauty and sensitivity." Here he is talking about his old love, Nicholas, for whom he composed the song on the music box.

He still has Lestat's calling card, after all these years.
Great review, I’m looking forward to seeing you react to all the episodes. You’re in for a treat!❤️

@Yep. Remember when Louis demanded Lestat get rid of all the soldiers in their home? Mind control.

He flirted with Lily because he wanted to get Louis stirred up--he also probably finds Lily attractive.
I enjoyed your review~. better late than never!! SO SEXY, SO HORRIFIC, all at the same time. I'll be watching your further reviews!
Thanks so much for watching with me!
