To be GUD at DRONES you must FIRST be BAD at DRONES.

Grim, you’re a great example of this. When you started, your flying was rough- but your video work and storytelling was compelling. Over time your flying got better and better, while you kept strong storytelling and video work. I wonder if you and Bot could help people build their story/camera/editing skills through something like IGOW or the currently running Tyrant’s Whoop Freestyle Bootcamp 101 model where weekly challenge and instructions/examples are given and then everyone makes their own videos. Instead of trick challenges though each week would be a challenge to make a video around a theme or camera/ editing skill, integrating fpv content. Food for thought…
This is low key a good idea
Thanks for this comment because I didn't even knew Tyrantt's Whoop Freestyle Bootcamp 101 existed!!
@@seekerfpv it’s rad! Also, you can use any size drone for each challenge, although I’m trying to learn them on whoops to challenge myself.
@@Kleinage I will try them with a whoop since they are easier to travel with!
@Kleinage I would be down for a challange like that, Im still in the beginning of the hobby but I'm really passionate and would be happy to do some challange together!
ironically this is an absolute banger of an edit.
Being Bad At Drones is my whole thing. I worry about the day I get good at flying and people start enjoiyng my content... eww feels nasty 😁
Me too... beginners forever
🤣
Me too! If I master flying, my whole brand is gone.
haha
Your "drones are secondary....making friends along the way" comment is exactly why I enjoy FPV. adventures with the dromies
dromies, nice!
flying friends are the best friends
No drone friends yet, but my new rc buddies let me orbit their fixed wings and trucks! Plus they watch my back and help me look for my quad. Friends are dope!
We all have one thing in common:
We love FPV!
I live in Botswana Southern Africa.I am the only FPV Pilot in the country. So I fly alone, almost all the time.I learn from youtube...I have subscribed to some awesome pilots which I watch to motivate and teach me!
Love this - People need to be less judgy and just chill out. It's a hobby!
@cubefpv right imagine gatekeeping rc toys, it's just fuckin wierd
My first drone was a rescue. Found it in a tree, so I wrapped it in a blanket and took it home, nursed it back to health. People don't realize they only bring back bad flight footage when they're neglected or when you've not yet gained their trust. This one's old now, it's GoPro Hero 3+ Silver Edition can barely discern shapes through it's hazy lens anymore, nor can it's battery hold a charge for much time.
I really appreciate your words at the end. I think the humans and the people that are doing FPV are some of the most interesting parts of it. I’ve noticed if I can sneak in a little narrative of whatever I want whether that’s what it’s like to fly FPV setting up batteries charging fixing packing everything up getting in the car driving somewhere going home. Yeah, maybe I don’t have the sickest tricks in the world, but I’m trying to show people what it’s like to actually do FPV on the daily. It’s a lot of work. But also it’s very empowering. I agree, I think more pilots should share their experiences doing FPV anyway they can try to create a narrative to practice creativity. We need to innovate everywhere. We can’t just make videos that I’ve already been made in FPV. We need to make new ones share our stories that we’re making.
The creator discords have been some of the most helpful people I’ve ever interacted with. Especially UAV futures discord, I kinda pepper questions around each discord but they were usually the ones to answer the most. Especially when starting out. Bot grinder too has helped so much, I think I’ve only posted a couple things to the Facebook side of things and just been nothing but negativity. Spot on with the video addressing these things honestly. Thanks for getting the message out there.
I’m not good at fpv but I love flying and editing. I’ll leave the whole pack up in one edit usually and cut the crash directly into another clip so it’s at least authentic xD
I’ve crashed my custom SL5 Cidora at least 8 times in the past couple of weeks xD
Dude this resonated so much. I've been holding off on finishing the first video that hasn't just been flight footage for weeks now. And it makes me want to just get it out now. Thanks.
I became overwhelmed after buying my first quad. I see all these videos of people flying and doing all these tricks. It is difficult. I crash alot but I do enjoy it. It is therapeutic. I just fly the best I can and crash alot.
Dude, this is by far my favorite video that you’ve posted. I freaking love your attitude and positivity.
I've had the most fun watching this video and bots video and pretending I'm there along the 100 mile bike/fpv Bando mission! The two perspectives from my top two favorite fpv youtubers 🤌🏼 *chefs kiss*. Absolutely spoilt 😊🎉
Maybe I spend too much time on TH-cam, but it really is hard to find new interesting drone stuff. Reviews are fun only occasionally, watching just GoPro footage with the same kind of song for the thousand times is not really doing it, and after that there is not much more. I love the stories, I love the experiments. I know not every day can be an adventure, but when RotorRiot built the wing with charging for a drone, it was banger. You can be the best pilot with the most amazing edit of the most beautiful spot, but if it's dry, no one will watch more than a few minutes. If you can tell the story and show, how much fun this hobby is, show the ups and downs, it creates emotions and gets people hooked. That's why I'm here, your videos have personality, they have something to say.
Great, great great blog. Keep up the great work.😎👊🏽
Any comment, positive or negative, is still engagement, the currency of the digital world. It’s feedback that shows you’re stirring the pot, and the fact that you’re responding to it suggests you genuinely care about the hobby, more than just making videos for the sake of being a TH-camr. Keep it up!
I have made a bunch of posts this year about the fact that I used to race motocross. It is probably the most fun I have ever had doing anything ever. On top of that I am also proud of a few accomplishments I made along the way... winning races, riding in a stadium in front of thousands of people...
BUT that is not what this comment is about nor is it the best part. So what is then???
The best part of being involved in the sport (motocross) is the ride to and from the track with my friend or friends in the car/truck.
Yup, that was the best part. Not the racing, not the competition, not the fun of riding, it was the hanging out with friends that made it so great. Just hanging around, swapping racing stories, stopping for Taco Bell on just about every single drive to the track, talking about technology, talking about when we are going to go a couple states over to ride at RedBud!!!
So when you talk about how FPV should foster a great community I completely agree, and when you talk about pit racing with your fellow FPV pilots, all i have to say is - yup, that is one of the best parts of this hobby/sport. Cheers!
Word. The hang is what I look forward to when going to fly, Facebook is the devil & I don't think people looking for new FPV content are really looking for skill anymore. Videos like this I think are the new craze. Get the pilot on the screen, talk about more than just FPV & showcase the hang/prep/journey of the day of flying.
exactly; bonus points if the microphone is a banana, lightsaber hilt, or dildo!!
Incorrect. We see straight through all vloggers as larpers that never really fly well
It's funny, the whole rotation of FPV over the last 5 years. It's gone from small guys doing their thing, to big business and now we are back to the little guys. Don't get me wrong, the greater world is waking up again to live events and large events again. But it's the connections we have made over the last few that are strong. The guys we rip with at clubs and from groups. I only ever uploaded my vids to share the fun I was having with drones. Yes, I did go down the "review" type route. But, I like to be more honest than most would like🤣 But to share the cool shit we are doing, with awesome people is why I keep doing it! Plus, to be creative in editing and be able to look back on how we have grown as a person/pilot is awesome also! Stay awesome dude!
-Grim Reaper=gatekeeper of heaven/hell
-Grim Ripper=gatekeeper of fpv
amazing video btw
We have the sickest FPV F-22 skills on youtube! I agree, there is a lot of gate keeping in this hobby to keeping great content suppressed!
Just under a month in FPV YouTubing and on 400 subscribers! Started in March, coming from skateboarding and skateboarding media. Great video! See you again at 4k subs!
That visual shout out to Remie!
Hell yeah! Good dude.
I love the story based FPV content! Keep it up Soy Boy!!!
I’m trying to do different stuff and it’s mostly inspired by guys like you and put putting up such creative videos. Thanks
Great video! Totally agree about everything said! Great arguments made! Thanks for sharing!
I enjoy your content. It’s not about the flying. Keep it up 🤙🏼
Keep the videos coming please gonna start posting because of you.
I love all the cuts mid-dialogue in random locations :D
Thanks for the honorable mention!🙏🏻 Time to record some fresh footy.😉
5:52 Truth. Seems like all of us are trying to find a way to help bring our world to the wider audience right now. Nobody cares about flight videos or simple how to's anymore. We need to innovate and grow as creators, and ambassadors if we really want to grow as a hobby! But for real, I can't stand the gatekeeping in our hobby. Whenever I meet a newcomer I try to make it a point to encourage them and make sure they have fun!
I'll always criticize my flying, but never another's. I'm trying to get a small "business" set up just to fund stuff.
I'm learning ham licensing just so I can do dumb stuff like fly by a radio tower, long range to Canadian border. I want to do it legally so I can have weight when telling my local leaders off for trying to stop drones, and rc flight in general. We have 1 ama field in over 150 miles, or 80 if you cross into Canada.
You and bot are great inspos for me, and I'm glad I found you those years ago
A lot of Facebook FPV seems to be people joining groups just to talk trash about other people’s decision of digital ecosystem. Literally people joining Walksnail groups to talk about how much better DJI is and vice versa. There’s also a lot of affiliate link posts disguised as a friendly in stock alert.
good stuff man✌
Enjoying your content. Take care
I’m just here to make mediocre videos, pretend like I have sponsors and sell products that don’t even exist. 👍
This hit real good. I have a few good ideas for the hobby.
I enjoy building the quadcopter more than the flying
I like the message about Facebook FPV fliers, you can't even fly without someone condescending posting.
However we really do need product reviewers, without them most people wouldn't take the first step into FPV.
You guys are fucking brilliant with these intros lol. Love this
love this clip!
love your vids
dont stop making them and keep flying fpv
i apreciate your videos and bot grinders video.
Yo. Well said all around. The kids crave compelling content.
Good point, gotta do a hobby for fun not clout chasing
Keep flying, we like to see how its done.
Oh Man! You're totally right! great video! thank you for the encouragment.
Great f****** video man, keep preaching. You are not wrong.
Good video grim
how da fuck do people find fpv comunities offline or online. I'm in this since 8 years and have never really flown together with a single other person...
Discord.
I feel you, Back in eighties and nineties flying rc planes there wouldn’t be parking room at the air field, hell i could get an hour of stick time flying other peoples stuff everyday what a blast. Now for the last 15 years not once have i seen somebody flying a drone (DJI) doesn’t count. So my question is why are drone/parts always out of stock? And for the record I’m still a shit pilot. Lol
love this !
I never had a single mean comment on a video, to me the FPV community has been nothing but wholesome and helpful when i had technical problems.
And thats also how i treat others, FPV dosent have the biggest community, people see that and are nice to each other.
I mean to be fair 99.99% of my comments are positive but there are always haters
was here. 👍@@grimripperrr
The collab I never knew I needed!
Bot\Ripper 2028!
One day I just decided I would start vlogging. Been doing it for a while. Almost to 500 subs. Don't care about reviews. I give my opinion on the new hot shit from the perspective of a regular dude. Don't care about doing youtube for a living. I have an awesome job. I'm just doing it for the fun of it. I suck at it. But I get better the more I do.
Really think this video is important and I hope people listen to you and start posting more.
Grim and bot i like your vids. Don't bother what haters say because end of the day they are watching so help the channel. And if you hate why did you watch and spend time for it.😂 I doing a lot of rc cars bashing and fpv flying for my channel with the thought to watch it back for my own enjoyment and if more people want to watch it i appreciate it. So keep uploading vids guys you're awesome amd refreshing. Peace out🤙🏻
Great message! Glad I’m not on FB.
quality content 🙌🏽🔥
I'm so sharing this to Facebook.
well said at the end brother...
Nah the only real problem with the hobby growing is the work and effort that comes with anything that is worth doing, a lot of people try fpv not a lot stay flying though because crashing and breaking is easy. Learning how to rebuild and fly guud hard.
Great video dude
Cool stuff. True words.
Where I'm at I fly all alone and I absolutely love flying I upload videos not for the money or whatever cause I don't get money I haven't gotten that far in the uploading yet I do it just to share my content so other people can see it that is enough for me letting other people see my flights that's why I upload I don't do product reviews or anything just flight videos great video man I hope it grows out here by me 👍👍👍👍
Facebook FPV is the WORST! #1 rule for making an FPV video for me is making it fun.
Looks like I found a new drinking game, every time you say "FPV" You drink lol I don't drink but if I did wow blasted
Nice video dude and well said. 😎👍
Very good Video!!
Hell yeah bro. Love your content keep it up. Land of the free, home of the whopper. You got a great channel brother always feel better after watching. Thank you 👍
Dont gate keep only we can because we know whats good 👌
I wish there were as many bandos here as there are there
I think that there is a double edge sword here. It would be great if more people uploaded videos of them flying FPV. However, it introduces the hobby to many people that will do dumb things. That can cause further regulations. Regardless, more people following regulations and having fun, means that it will be harder to regulate. We just have to chastise the ones who break the rules. And some of the rules are too strict, which means we have to agree on what rules are okay to break.
Good talk bro good talk!
I have the same response to all gatekeepers.... STFU.
Original Feral GenX here, Question Everything Boldly. LOL
"We’re still flying. It’s enough." -Mal
i am HERE to help the novices go to big places .
I don't have the courage to vlog yet, but hopefully, one day. Thank you for sharing your thoughts.
You comment indicates movement in that direction... 😊
@Timothy_Smith_Jr Where your focus goes, energy glows. 🙏🏽
@@DannyFPV7 I like that...😊
commercialism of fpv content has destroyed the hobby imo, that's why RR is barely hanging on, they fell into the money pit and forgot what fpv was really all about .
great video
I have a feeling that a lot of people who talk trash don't even fly. They certainly dont have their own fpv videos
Enjoyed this one. I noticed that gap with FPV videos too. So many of them are just BORING. I’ve been putting out the types of videos that I would want to watch - esp. when I started. Keep it up dude, love the essays 🙌🏼
I actually haven't made a video in years. I just fly. Fuck all the other bs. People see me when I'm out flying and I engage with them and throw a set of goggles on them.
I don't really know how to edit and make videos so I don't post anything and I'm not really that good I just fly wide open space I only have one place to go and fly
Excuses! Travel if you find the opportunity. And everything can be good footage. It's how you present it that's gunna resonate.
I started in 2017 with raceflight software we never bashed each other. and let me tell you them drones were not smooth. it was about llifting the hobby off the ground and to a new audiance. thoes were the good days hainging with bot on discord playin pub g talking about how much we crashed lol
spot on 🤙
Staying off facebook is key. I'll try making story based content. I am bad at making videos. Got a resource or two on how to turn ideas that are compelling to me into ideas that are compelling for everyone else?
I noticed folding ideas does that well. I almost never care about the things he makes videos on but I get sucked in. No idea how he does it.
I didn't start uploading until I was good at the cool tricks. see all my unlisted clips
I think there are lot of people very afraid to upload videos to TH-cam that include any FPV flying footage as they are worried about it being used against them by Faa, Caa etc and that is massively stifling FPV content massively.
The stuff we love doing we cant share anymore online without putting a massive target on our backs.
I don't take to that. Just post it unless you are doing power loops around highway overpasses. If you are doing some reckless stuff then don't post that or maybe do it at all. I mean you do you, but yeah.
Faq FB, it's been dead for years..i found going back to forums the people way cool helpful, no drama.
Excellent!
Great video bro! The only flaw is that it has an ending 😢
I’ve been married 13 years and now I can only pleasure myself to grimripper videos…..
I went to a FPV race, I told them I had a Phantom and really enjoyed Drones.....None of those neckbeard losers are worth my time today.
i'm gatekeeping myself from posting
What's a 'soy boy'? lol I don't care if no one watches my vids, it's just a form of expression and being creative is always a worthy endeavour.
Fpv content that’s a little different you say?? Ok Iv had a few ideas..
Fuck everyone's opinion! You like what you see or move on! Great Video, Luv ya grim (4:42 for me doing a lil dance)
I feel this video was inspired by Josh G.
here's a smart dude
I hate posting anything or asking for help anymore it fucking pisses me off so bad so I figured it out myself
Yeah, I know I still kinda suck but at least I’m getting better.
