    Matt, not only do you have the best SQ installs on TH-cam, they would be nothing without your video skills! The walkthrough of your builds along with the stills of the actual fabrication make these so enjoyable to watch!
    I appreciate you and the time it takes you to put these together for us!

    Nice job. Wish I had done some research before taking it to my local stereo shop. They messed up big time on my 2010 e93 and 3 speakers aren’t even working and radio doesn’t work anymore. Will keep searching and try to fix it myself.

    Matt, beautiful build as always! I have followed your work on BMW's ever since you did that amazing JL box that looked like the nose of the car. :) But this M3 build hit close to home as I am building my BMW trunk and noticed you did something similar that I did but I have not worked out the best way to finish it. How did you get the power wires from the battery to the distribution blocks? I am using 0ga wire and it is so huge, I cannot find a good place to run it without disruption. Also, how did you connect to the battery posts on this build? Thank you so much for your reply and inspiration!

      skippa732 I appreciate the comment. You are saying you want to listen to these car so you can see how they sound? You understand how silly of a concept that is right? You are judging thousands of dollars of equipment through 5 cent computer or phone speakers. This is strictly the reason I do not do this. Because somewhere someone listening may actually believe that is what the car sounds like. I wouldn’t go shopping for tvs judging picture quality through my computer or phone screen. You have to see a TV in person to see how good it looks. You have to hear something in person to know how good it sounds. All that should go without saying.

    Awesome build! Can you still get a great sounding system out of the 3/4 series with just upgrading the in cabin speakers with no additional subwoofer in the rear? Say with Focals and a VXI 8 channel...maybe a seperate amp for more power to the underseat woofers? Thanks!

    • @therealmatty_s
      @therealmatty_s  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not really. The woofers under the seats are more of a mid bass woofer. Not a sub bass woofer. Therefor you still need those lower frequencies. The underseat woofers need to play up to where those 4" speakers take over. About 350-400 hz or so.

    If I'm not running a DSP is there any benefit to going active?

    • @therealmatty_s
      @therealmatty_s  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well the DSP is setting all of your crossover points. So I am not sure what your plan would be without one.

    • @dtmfool789
      @dtmfool789 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@therealmatty_s I guess my question is why go active? To allow a DSP to be introduced to the system?

    • @therealmatty_s
      @therealmatty_s  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Daniel Saucedo by going active you can furthermore take the cars atmosphere into the tuning equation. On top of that you are gaining power that would otherwise be dissipated within the passive crossover. You are also going to have better EQ and level control per speaker to gain a perfect soundstage. The only way I ever going passives is if the budget does not allow me to go active.

    • @dtmfool789
      @dtmfool789 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@therealmatty_s I understand. I am currently passive but eventually want the JL Audio twk. Do you have a good resource for learning more about the tuning aspect of installing. I understand the basics of crossovers and slopes but obviously there is way more to a proper tune than just not blowing your mids & highs with too much low frequency.

    • @therealmatty_s
      @therealmatty_s  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Daniel Saucedo you can try a mobile solutions class when it pertains to this subject. It’s really something to see and experience first hand. Trying to take bits and pieces of what people say online is challenging. That would be my best advice. If you are in the industry, you can try an event like knowledge fest. They have classes based on these subjects so you can learn the in and outs.

    Question, why is audson so good, why can't just having a really good head unit, really good component sets, good sub and/ 4ch 5ch 6ch amps and accessory just as good?

    • @missayawk
      @missayawk 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's what I say....Im sure Audison is good.But all the high end places I go to they always " push" Audison, Focal, Mosconi or Hertz products.I want to see a build with low end products ( still reputable name, like a Pioneer, Kenwood etc) and see what kind of sound difference it would be.Because at the end of the day its the sound the customer is satisfied with....I could probably save about $8-$10,000 going with a lower end and still get satisfactory...not DYNAMIC, but enough to fill my needs.The other thing is a lot of the cost goes into the fabrication, but suppose I don't want the carbon trim , 3 layers of trim or braided wires? But I understand this shop is at a different level than most shops and probably only cater to a certain clientele ( WEALTHY) not just the cats who have to work 2 jobs or OT just to afford an extra custom build.

      Are you shure that that hi end shop don't do other products?

    • @missayawk
      @missayawk 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@chrisnas1483 I'm sure they do, but I think they want to push these higher end products, if they can, on the consumer.I went to one top installer on the east coast...asked me how much I wanted to spend. I said about $3,000 ( granted I had 2 pairs of Hertz speakers already) I just want a 5 channel amp, sound dampening to doors and deck, sub and enclosure and maybe a processor ( audiocontrol LC2i)....He said" I won't even touch your car for less than$5,000"....I know these guys are the BEST of the BEST and THAT is in the price as well....but all these builds are with high end products.Im sure any skilled mechanic, carpenter, plumber can do incredible work with the BEST tools/equipment...I just want to see an " everyday"person build.But back to your question.Yes...alot of these shops are authorized Kenwood, Pioneer, Rockford etc dealers....but those products are never show cased.
