We tint and PPF a lot of Tesla’s, using XPEL products. No complaints, all compliments. I have a model S back in here today, having even more work done.
Did you go with xpel for your 3? The installer I have schedule with uses Suntek..but after watching this video I think xpel would be better. The messed up thing is non of y’all are in New York Area!
Brian Swails yes I went with the XPEL XR PLUS, the nano-ceramic tint. It blocks heat very well and looks great. I did 32%, now I wish I had done the 20%. I did it different however I split the back window and didn’t do it in one piece. I did 32%all the way around driver to passenger door but the back glad only up to the factory tint. From the factory tint all the way up to above the driver I only did 80% just to get some heat block. Then I did 80% on the front windshield (you can’t even really see it) so it knocks the glare down.
starwarsfanforlife thanks looking at doing 20% all the way around and 50% for the windshield. I think I’m going to go with one piece for the roof and may do something lighter..but I haven’t decided that yet
I would like to see that as well, I’ll have to get a sample. Hopefully with this new line of tint they got rid of the green hue it has and went to a black look. Also their darker films fading to purple and the adhesive failure we’ve been seeing on cars that had SunTek installed less than four years ago.
I just got suntek Ceramic on my 2018 civic and I live in phoenix Az where it can get to 120 degrees at worst in summer, 5%back windows and 30% front side windows, do i have anything to worry about with longevity and durability ? The guy who installed it did a fantastic job and I honestly didn't know there were so many brands.. There's a million tinting services here it was hard to decide when I didn't know too much really
I have XPEL and and solargard and 3M on a few different cars.. XPEL is has darker look where solargard has a purplish hue both while brand new. XPEL is a step above the rest has the right color. In a real world comparison.
I just got Carbon 40 installed. It looks pretty good a bit foggy, maybe cause it is new? But first drive with it, I could feel the heat on my arm when the sun came through the glass, seemed like no difference then before I got them tinted over the factory tint. Did not mean to put on a cheap product, do not want scratches. I would have gladly spent more if I could have got a better product.
Sky1 we don’t carry a film called Carbon 40. SunTek and I believe Global carries a brand called Carbon. I’m guessing you didn’t come to us to have your tint installed?

XR+ is about $150 more all around the car (not including the front) than the regular XR. Not sure if that is worth the extra 9% heat reduction. Thoughts?
Joe Russell, we have it in our heat box now. There’s a big difference between the XR & XR PLUS, in terms of IR reduction and even optical clarity. If you’d like to come by sometime, we’d be happy to show you the comparison.

Joe Russell, ultimate protective film quoted my 2014 Accord sport sedan $600 for the Xpel Prime XR Plus. Not sure where in CA you are, but give them a try. I have an appt with them this coming Wednesday. Hopefully they actually do install the XR plus and not some generic ceramic tint. Perfect tint, would I be able to do some type of test to verify that they did install the right XR+ tint? Would an infrared thermometer do? Wondering where i can get that heat sheet and try to replicate that test once the tint is done and do it inside my car out in the sun.

The color and performance of Xpel is far better than SunTek. We didn’t like the color of CIR either. It’s also very hard to get a tool scratch in Xpel, where SunTek would easily get fine scratches with the best tools. To get Xpel, you would need to contact Xpel and they will have a rep reach out to you.

I got my suntek taken off and relaxed with xr plus. I have a black car and go to Phoenix a lot and used to live there

If your refering to suntek carbon, they have a haze to them which i hate. Im in the process of having my suntek csrbon removed and going xpel ceramic.

Alex Diaz I used CIR for a bit and just couldn’t get behind that product. I didn’t like the extreme green look and the heat rejection didn’t stack up
