Saul Madrid I have some friends that think it’s dumb for her to have a yellow lightsaber. I’ve tried to explain this to her and they just won’t listen. I think it makes perfect sense honestly.
@@alexanderthered5603 Yellow is the default colour of a constructed lightsaber in SWTOR, many people just replace the crystal with one of their own choosing. My Jedi Guardian's Viridian blade, for instance.
In my head cannon I believe that yellow lightsaber crystals were only created by Jedi with strong conviction and sense of duty. Whether that duty entails serving the lightside (temple guards) or destroying the darkside. (Sentinels) As for creating a yellow crystal, its probably easier for the ones committed to destroying the dark side, hence the quote at 5:04 about there not being someone alive who could make one. The only actual Sith at that time were Ventress, Dooku, and I guess Maul. (Not counting Grevious and Palpatine because one just used lightsabers and not the force, the other was unknown.) Also, I think some Sentinels may have used some dark side abilities like Mace Windu, making them not pure enough to be a consular. I like the idea of mysterious force wielding ninjas who's primary goal is ensuring peace.
IMO yellow means that they serve the light side of the Force, but not primarily using the Force or the lightsaber like the other Jedi. Knowledge in more technical fields and unorthodox Force abilities was their virtue.
Interesting take. I guess that could explain the Knights of Zakuul when Valkorion became it's Emperor. IIRC quite a few of their number had Yellow Blades. :-)
I took a bunch of "what would your Star Wars [blank] be" quizzes, and I got yellow for my lightsaber color. I also took the quiz results and combined them into a single character who became Rorre Dyy, "retired" Jedi sentinel and senator for a while until the Inquisitors started getting a bit too insistent. His primary blade was a shoto that was disguised as the handle of his cane, with the rest of his cane concealing a second, long-handled, lightsaber.
I love the yellow blade. I first chose a double bladed yellow saber in Jedi Academy. That's been my go to ever since. Any game that lets me use a yellow blade is an automatic buy. I didn't buy Fallen order until I knew you could have a yellow saber.
Actually I just saw a video that explained in canon these temple guards were all killed before the clones and anakin even attacked, stabbed in the back by the inquisitor, an ex Temple guard turned to the dark side
SPOILERS Rey having that yellow lightsaber is pretty perfect to end the movie. She was born a Palpatine and was destined to become the next Sith, but through her experiences grew up learning about the light side of the force first. What people didn’t seem to get when Palpatine was killed was that she wasn’t the one to kill him, Palpatine killed himself with his own lightning. It mirrored the scene of Mace Windu blocking Palpatine’s lightning back at him in the third movie. If she directly killed Palpatine, she would have likely still been consumed by the dark side, but was just barely able to reflect the lightning with the help of the many generations of Jedi connected through the force. Of course, at the cost of her life, just barely saved with the life force of Ben. It makes sense that she was so powerful with the force to begin with: She was Palpatine’s blood, a Sith’s blood, who was arguably just as powerful as Anakin when he was in his prime. It makes sense then that whenever Rey became enraged, her power spiked for a moment. It may have been deus ex machina, but at least there’s an explanation to it. Her power only grew stronger with training by first Luke and then Leia, who was also trained by Luke and possibly became equal in strength in the 30 year time skip. Her bloodline remains as Palpatine’s, but Ben’s life force now resides in her as well, linking her closely with the Skywalker line. She’s technically a Sith made Jedi, a balance of both. At least for now. After all, at the end of the second movie a new generation of force sensitive children was shown, signaling a new beginning and a new story.
She having a Yellow lightsaber is ONLY because Disney wanted to add further unwanted elements within their film. It was a horrible film, and it had no meaning whatsoever for Rey to have the lightsaber. She doesn't have any indication that she should need a Yellow lightsaber.
Yellow or Gold Ightsabers were the Color of the Eternal Empire in legends where Valkorian (Vitiate) Started a whole new Empire of balanced Force users.
SPOILERS So, I feel one of the very few things ROS did right was Rey's yellow lightsaber. It makes a lot of sense. She fits the bill, she uses a lot of practical abilities alongside her fighting skill and force power. Purple would have also worked, but that would have backfired because they gave a female lead a purple lightsaber
@@honestonyx2545 Cus purple is considered a feminine colour. SJWs may be upset that the first female lead Jedi had a feminine coloured lightsaber, like how they got buthurt when nerf released a pink gun range for girls. Either way, yellow still suits her. I think it was yellow. It definitely wasn't orange, as Rey doesn't fit the bill for the orange lightsaber. I think it was yellow or gold.
He also mentions that 'guardians' would hold a yellow lightsaber, and Rey is effectively a guardian of the jedi order. She holds the essence of all the jedi that came before, so she would have to take on all of those roles.
And in Rebels when Kanan is at the planet Malachor, which is also where the ancient battle of the Sith and Jedi was. He reaches and picks up a Temple Guard mask, which means their was force users in that time that wore the masks. And probably used yellow sabers, it’s something I’ve thought about and I haven’t heard anyone talk about it.
Hey the stupendous wave, I was wondering if you could possibly find some information on Ahsoka tano and find out what she did after she left the jedi order during the clone wars? It would be interesting to see what she did and if she still trained or not to still have strong will of the force.
may the force be with you, very informative video and I also liked that you also looked into the starwars games like the old republic for this because it is rarely being considered when starwars is being talked about.
this is a spoiler for star wars the rise of skywalker Ray's lightsaber is also yellow. Maybe it means the return of the old Jedi ways, it does fit the message of the film.
thank you! this is awesome information, that i've been missing thusfar. I've always loved the idea of the Jedi Sentinel, wish they would get a little more love. ;)
i agree fullheartedly on your conclusion, i think the yellow is a symbol of showing purification from the dark side, while green or blue shows a balance between the two, and a battle that is always present.
Just because Gaylen didn't know about snythetic crystals, the ancient Jedi could still of had them, and they could just be really hard to make. This allows it to be snythetic.
You've mixed names up here: Sentinels were Knights who were more focused on combat and martial techniques. Consulars were Jedi that schooled in other disciplines -- computers, diplomacy, etc. -- and they were the class that Shadows came from.
I would like to note that their is another, Tosan, who is the only jedi to appear with(by the looks of it) their own yellow lightsaber. However it should be noted the the game which includes this has 2 key issues on why it must be taken with a grain of salt, 1: the game combines both legends and canon, 2: Tosan is considered a Jedi guardian. You should try covering her as a add on to the yellow lightsaber discussion
This might be off topic to the video but in Legends if kyber crystals can be synthetic why would they need to mine kryber crystals to power of the Death Star?
The stupendous wave can you do the meaning of white kyber crystal color or white lightsaber color that used by the imperial knights of roan fel the grandson of jedi knight jaina solo

In my opinion, my theory, yellow light sabers are relics of the eternal empire's knights of zukuur & were acquired when that empire was dissolved, that's why only the temple guards & jedi sentinels had access to them ...
I feel like if Yellow truly meant a more balanced philosophy of the force, then if the movies were made in order 1-6, Luke would have indeed ended up with a yellow Lightsaber. Makes you wonder where the sextet would be if made differently.
A yellow lightsaber could mean somebody is not only more of a consular (green saber), but a guardian (blue saber). As the colors together of blue and green create yellow.
My version: Yellow lightsabers represent purity, ingenuity and a balance between combat and scholarly pursuits. This is why they are suited to the Jedi Sentinels who operate more akin to the Jedi of old who wielded yellow lightsabers. However due to the Jedi Order's nature as a whole in the Clone Wars era a Jedi could not imprint on a lightsaber and have it turn yellow. Instead those Sentinels who chose to construct and imprint on their own lightsabers rather than use those handed down over centuries would often come out with an orange blade. This would also explain the apparent rarity of orange lightsabers if they were used by such Jedi who often operated in secret. EDIT: Don't know much about the 'Eternal Empire' but I gather the ancient Jedi were more similar to them in a lot of ways. The members of the Eternal Empire used yellow lightsabers but also produced ORANGE force lightning (if I remember correctly), which further suggests these two colours represent similar things.
force sensitives of the Eternal Empire Aka Zakuul believe that the force is a reward for their duty, and that the more they serve the empire the greater and stronger they become in the force, you should be able to find a video somewhere of Satele Shan and Darth Marr's force spirit explaining the force to jedi/sith characters on the Visions in the Dark KOTET chapter
Well a Jedi getting a yellow lightsaber naturally like green or blue is sort’ve canon. In Jedi Fallen Order it is possible to obtain the yellow crystal on Illum when choosing what color you want your saber to be.
My head cannon was that there is no real reason that the two cannons can’t work together a little bit. A lightsaber crystal that is bled by a Sith to red, then purified by a Jedi, would create white. That is how it is anyway. But I like to think that yellow lightsabers are created when a Jedi purified an Ancient sith’s crystal. Maybe the ancient Sith had a way to make synthetic crystals through the dark side, or maybe corrupting a pure uncolored crystal, or just that ancient Sith had a different method to create red blades. When these crystals were purified by Jedi, they were yellow. So that would mean that the temple guards carry blades made from the crystals of defeated ancient Sith. I like to think that it’s used as a bit of phycological warfare against Sith that would dare come to the temple, to see hundreds of yellow blades, all dead Sith. Or maybe it’s simply that a white lightsaber turns yellow over time as its passed from hand to hand, like the completely pure white crystal gets tainted by impurities in the light side, small scraps of darkness in every single sentinel slowly changing the blade through the ages. Just what I like to think, it probably breaks cannon though.
The Yellow Saber lies somewhere inbetween Red and Green. Users of it have a level of understanding of the will of the force unrivaled by the other colors. They have a understanding going deep enough to being able to distinguish when it is okay to use the darkside powers and still follow the will of the force. Temple Guards used to carry them because the Yellow blade symbolizes a deep understanding of the will of the force. The jedi order understood itself as servants to the force and so the templeguards yellow sabers showed they protect the jedi but also the original intended purpose of the jedi order. Down i discuss the colors as they make the most sense to me. Of coarse all that is just my own theory especially the part about the crystals and the darksaber. I will discuss the different colors and their meaning as i would understand it: First things first. Where do the colors come from? Every Kyber crystal is connected to the force and the will of the force. But as being somewhat like a living being not all crystals approach the force the same way just like force sensitive have different approaches to the force. It will only reach its full potential if the user is using it alongside its will and its rolle in the force. That is why it is so important to find a Crystal that is in line with the own believes and the own way of the force. By attuning and bonding with the crystal a Jedi and the crystal basically align with each other so they can resonate with each other leading to a stronger connection to the force if both work together. This is also why a Lightsaber can be used by everyone but becomes more if used by a force sensitive and also why meditating with the kyber crystal can make force powers stronger. A crystal is colorless at the start but has already an idea on what is its way of the force. But while bonding with a force sensitive both the jedi and the crystal make compromises and find a way both of them agree to which leads to the final color of the crystal. Which is a snapshot of the one could call it a contract between the crystal and the user. It will remain in that color to always remind the jedi of that agreement. Even if the jedi develops and his believes change the crystal will remain its color unless he brings it to bleed. That of coarse also means that if the jedi is changing to extreme it is necessary to find a new crystal that is more in line with his way to gain the maximum out of their connection. Just like in a relationship but a basic understanding must be there from the beginning. A crystal not used for millennia can probably also regain its original colorless form. And being ready to bond with a new force sensitive. Probably its original will then is slightly shifted into the direction of his last user. Red: The red saber comes from a bleeding crystal. The sith and other darksiders do not believe in compromises and they would never bound to the will of the crystal. Using it against its will and forcing it through the force to assist in bad things the crystal is hurting and starts to bleed. That is why a Sith basically could use any kyber Crystal and doesn't need to find one that works with him like a jedi needs to. Blue: Used by those who know the Force but in battle trust their own body and sword skills more and so prefer to use the saber or their mind in critical situations and not the force. Users of a blue saber tend to be okay with a confrontation as long as they gain something. That is because they are force sensitive but leak the understanding for its will. They do not trust it completely. Best seen in Anakin as he would mostly use his knowledge in tech and his swoardskills to overcome obstacles. Green: Used by those who are strong in the force and trust it in any situation. They let the force guide them and tend to ask the force for help instead of trying to solve the problem with their sword skills. Users of a green saber also try to avoid confrontations where ever they can and are known to first try to negotiate and only turning to their blade as a last resort. Best seen in Master Yoda or even Luke. Purple: Being in between the Blue and the Red the user believes in his own powers and abilities. He believes that it is sometimes necessary to use powers of the darkside to accomplish good things. He walks a path in between good and evil. But still following and working towards a greater goal. Purple is sometimes even used by Sith or dark Jedi although most Sith would consider it a weakness to work in line with the will of a crystal. Some used the darkside to do good. Just as Anikin was at the beginning. Wanting to create an Empire that can protect and bring piece. Doing bad for a greater purpose. Or Mace windu believing evil can only be fought by other evil. A user of a purple saber knows that Good or Evil are not absolutes but leaks the true understanding of what is the will of the force. Because his connection to it is not as strong as that of a green or yellow saber user would be. Yellow: It is more rare than the purple. That is because the Force is always trying to protect live. And a person strong in the force as a user of a green saber normally refuses to take live and is searching for peace and balance. A user of the Yellow saber therefor needs to be very dogmatic. He has a strong believe on the topic what is right with the force and what is not. And he has the necessary understanding of the force to distinguish when it is okay and truly necessary to hurt or even take live and are in opposite to a green saber user ready to do the forces will. The yellow user is much more in line with the Fan theory of a grey jedi but still favors the light. The sabers of temple guards are passed down and use yellow crystals once owned by a such jedi because the jedi order looks at itself a servant of the force and an yellow saber user has the best understanding for that topic. An degree of understanding a idealistic green saber user leaks. So the ancient Jedi believed the yellow saber is what the jedi order should be and so the best for protecting its original purpose. The temple guards carrying yellow blades assist in their anonymity but also symbolize their rolle as protectors of the jedi order and its intended purpose. White: Being a healed clarified red crystal. A Jedi strong in the light side is able to erase all the pain and suffering of a bleeding crystal. But a crystal who has suffered for so long has lost its way in the force. It is lost and needs guidance. Now able to be used by any jedi but being the strongest with the one who saved it. Having lost its own alignment to the force it is now white in color as all crystals beginn with. But crystals normally have millions of years inside the brightest stars to dwell in the force and gain their will in the force and their color. Leaking that time the crystal now remains white. Black: The Darksaber contains a Crystal that had is so corrupted it can't fight back anymore and so stopped bleeding. The crystal has lost its connection to the lightside completely. Probably it suffered hundreds or even thousands of years under the dark side maybe in a darkside force nexus. It now has no own will in the force anymore and is so even use able by non force sensitives to some degree since even those have the living force in them and the crystal follows willingless any comand it gets. Through it would probably be more powerful in the hands of a force user. Mistures: As living beings are Indiviuals and even Clones as Yoda told us are very unique within the force, every living being has a slightly different coloration in its Lightsaber. Some are more in line with the typical green and blue colors. But some can even be mixtures in between those two. If the Jedi who builds a lightsaber is meditating with the new Kyber Crystal and currently is uncertain maybe somewhere inbetween Green and Blue his crystal will show that by becoming a color somewhere inbetween the two. Same goes for other colors too.
That makes sense for rey, as she will not follow the mistakes of the prequel jedi order whoblostbits way and whobluke followed and instead follow an older purer form of the jedi order and learning from the mistakes of the past that lead to its fall. It actually works well as a sybolismnof change.
Maybe temple guard's lightsaber pikes have "masterless" Kyber crystals. Crystals that be handed down the line from one temple guard to another. That are blend of the general Jedi aura from all generations of the temple guard.
Honestly I feel like I would be a Sentinel cause I have so many various interests, one being in tech and computers and stuff but another being in philosophy and politics, similar to Consulars but I've also done martial arts which would be more in the realm of a Guardian so to balance both of those I would probably end up being a Sentinel if I was a Jedi, if not then I would definitely be a Consular cause I seem to have a talent for diplomacy and talking my way out of rough situations and calming people down when they need it
not a bad theory, it also runs along with the same theory I have that mace Windu balanced the use of the dark side and the light side turning his lightsaber purple.
What I'[m getting is that Red lightsabers serve the Empire, Blue/Green/Purple serves the common people, Yellow is strongest and secretive so it serves the universe like the United Nations serving the world lol.
It shows that she is now a guardian (sentinel) of Jedi knowledge and (through her connection to the Jedi of old) represents what the Jedi were supposed to be. Her intentions are pure. She also has all of those important books she will protect.
I just wanna know the reasons that the eternal twins used yellow lightsabers. Was it only from a developer POV to show that the eternal empire is neither Sith or Jedi? Or is there a deeper reason why or how the twins constructed yellow sabers

Interesting take. I guess that could explain the Knights of Zakuul when Valkorion became it's Emperor. IIRC quite a few of their number had Yellow Blades. :-)
most Zakuul knight use blue, its only really arcann, thexan and vaylin who used yellow, and thats probably something to do with royalty
@@mehlyn6599 Of course, didn't think of that.
So cals lightsaber being yellow really does make sense considering his technical know how and his decision to protect the younglings
So these were the guys who made the last stand against the 501st in the jedi temple during order 66?
Ya
IlluminateThePath sadly there were way more expendable clone troopers than there were Jedi’s
Actually I just saw a video that explained in canon these temple guards were all killed before the clones and anakin even attacked, stabbed in the back by the inquisitor, an ex Temple guard turned to the dark side
@@illuminatethepath404 yeah, I just saw that video too. But I don't know how I feel about that. The explanation feels kinda out of thin air

SPOILERS
Rey having that yellow lightsaber is pretty perfect to end the movie.
Great explanation! Things make alot more sense to me know.
This is a really dumb explanation for a shitty character in a shitty movie.
She having a Yellow lightsaber is ONLY because Disney wanted to add further unwanted elements within their film. It was a horrible film, and it had no meaning whatsoever for Rey to have the lightsaber. She doesn't have any indication that she should need a Yellow lightsaber.
I'm rocking a yellow lightsaber in Jedi Fallen Order. I always assumed that i liked blue and red the most, but now it is yellow and red.
Yellow or Gold Ightsabers were the Color of the Eternal Empire in legends where Valkorian (Vitiate) Started a whole new Empire of balanced Force users.

So, I feel one of the very few things ROS did right was Rey's yellow lightsaber. It makes a lot of sense. She fits the bill, she uses a lot of practical abilities alongside her fighting skill and force power. Purple would have also worked, but that would have backfired because they gave a female lead a purple lightsaber
Aaron Lachin why would a female lead with a purple lightsaber be a poor choice?
@@honestonyx2545 Cus purple is considered a feminine colour. SJWs may be upset that the first female lead Jedi had a feminine coloured lightsaber, like how they got buthurt when nerf released a pink gun range for girls. Either way, yellow still suits her. I think it was yellow. It definitely wasn't orange, as Rey doesn't fit the bill for the orange lightsaber. I think it was yellow or gold.
Aaron Lachin I agree, I like the choice of giving her a yellow lightsaber
Then thrawn had casually a Jedi temple guard’s mask
may the force be with you, very informative video and I also liked that you also looked into the starwars games like the old republic for this because it is rarely being considered when starwars is being talked about.
this is a spoiler for star wars the rise of skywalker
Ray's lightsaber is also yellow. Maybe it means the return of the old Jedi ways, it does fit the message of the film.
I think it means that it is an artificial crystal, that she made herself. Dunno why she would do that though
Orange
I’m guessing it’s a thematic thing, like she won’t be using someone else’s lightsaber from now on, and that she’ll be her own person.
I’m so proud I gave Cal yellow one. At least the way I treated and though about him would complement the reason for yellow one.
Magenta/crimson
Would be cool to have a Disney Plus series where Sabine notifies Rey about Ezra being lost in the unknown regions and they go look for him.

Just because Gaylen didn't know about snythetic crystals, the ancient Jedi could still of had them, and they could just be really hard to make. This allows it to be snythetic.
I read somewhere Yellow sabers represent mercenary Jedi that went out and hunted down Sith Lords which makes sense to keeping the balance.
Which Jedi is in 9:10 because I think she is a Jedi in Star Wars Knights The Old Republic
You've mixed names up here: Sentinels were Knights who were more focused on combat and martial techniques. Consulars were Jedi that schooled in other disciplines -- computers, diplomacy, etc. -- and they were the class that Shadows came from.
I was freaking out when I saw Rey at the end using her yellow saver

Hey, can you do a video about how ___ got a ______ kyber crystal to create __ lightsaber in episode _ (words are missing to prevent spoilers)
Thank your for your content
Do you think Cal from the star wars fallen order game should have a yellow saber colour? Your thoughts?
Have kyber crystals always been mood rings?
what about Arcann and Thexan ?
I remember a movie I saw a long time ago with yellow light sabers, no idea what was it
All right since you showed Ray at the endwhy could you do a video on explaining your thoughts on why she has a yellow lightsaber
Assuming since Ventress is more of a Grey Jedi and wielding a Yellow lightszber, my guess it's a Symbolism of Balance in the force. That's make take atleast
But you but it's mention that she adventurous found a yellow lightsaberso maybe she found a kyber crystal and constructed it but didn't show or doing any of that so maybe re-found 1/2 who knows
@@jaredreisinger6745 Ashoka found a Red saber and purified to a white. Wouldn't surprise me if when Rey found her Kyber crystal, it was Yellow to represent her Balance.

Though I do hope they give Colors a bit more meaning behind the Colors like they did for white. I didn't really like how Legends Color explanations too much, we'll probably get a explanations in the comics and stories
So is Rey’s saber yellow or orange?
Orange
In my opinion, my theory, yellow light sabers are relics of the eternal empire's knights of zukuur & were acquired when that empire was dissolved, that's why only the temple guards & jedi sentinels had access to them ...
I feel like if Yellow truly meant a more balanced philosophy of the force, then if the movies were made in order 1-6, Luke would have indeed ended up with a yellow Lightsaber. Makes you wonder where the sextet would be if made differently.
Outro music?
Grey Jedi gang???
Nah Sith lord gang
"Don't care, I can move things with my mind" Gang
Nah, light side boys. Get back to the roots of the Order.
There's no gray in the Disney universe yet they have canned everything from the extended universe
If you're a Grey Jedi, you are only mere inches from becoming sith, as you fundamentally misunderstand how the force works.
A yellow lightsaber could mean somebody is not only more of a consular (green saber), but a guardian (blue saber). As the colors together of blue and green create yellow.
Yellow means wisdom knowledge understanding and more.
Good Job
Can you add some light music in the background? I feel like I’m being lectured in class. 😆 thanks for the video.
You forgot to mention the Eternal empire of zakuul with most of the force user have yellow/gold lightsaber.
How did rey get her’s then?
Or was her pike always a secret saber?
Seems pretty neat
My question is what happened to the temple guards?
I will discuss the different colors and their meaning as i would understand it:
First things first.
Well come on, we all know that you get a yellow lightsaber if you pre-order Jedi: The Fall Order

Very nice.
