Changing oil and filter on the Africa Twin CRF1000L is very easy and much cheaper than bringing the bike to a dealership, just follow the step by step video. Here's a list of useful items needed, you might already have some.

To check the oil level the deep stich as to put on and not screwed !
Great video, and it does look easy!
-FYI:
CRF1000L A/D Engine Oil Check (From Honda Manual)
Place bike on side-stand.
Start and allow to idle 3-5 minutes.
Stop Engine and wait 2-3 minutes.
Remove Dipstick and clean.
Hold bike upright on level ground.
Insert Dipstick until it seats (but do not screw in)
On Africa T you check oil level without the bayonet being screw in. Read the manual.
Yes, check the comments, I talked about it there
That’s right, and also never on a backstand, not on the centre stand and not on the side stand, just keep it straight on two tyres and measure. The AT is a bit of a pain to measure it just right. Because the dipstick is very picky about that.
Yes, thank you
Clear - uncomplicated. Very good.
Thank you very much
Thank you, very helpful video! Subbed! 👍
Thank you so much
Complimenti per il tuo garage e officina. Ricordati che l'Italia ti aspetta.
Divertiamoci con le nostre Africa. 👍👍👍
Grazie, magari fosse. È il garage di amici. Vengo in Italia a Marzo
Just a short note: The oil drain bolts has to be tighten to 30 Nm torque with a proper torque wrench. Great video and thanks for sharing! Regards from Argentina!
Thank you!
Does the torque wrench tells you the measure? Or how do you know its tight enough?
Very nice vid!!
Glad you enjoyed it
Muito obrigado , video muito bem explicativo. Saudações do Brasil.
Muito obrigado. muito gentil de sua parte
Thanks for the video. Nice and straightforward. I'll do mine in the spring but I don't think I'll be doing the air filters as they sound like a nuisance.
yes, air filters are quite a workout
Complimenti Per quello che fai 👍❤
Grazie !!
That oil was clean 👌
It was old, it had 4000 miles
Bravo ti stai organizzando per bene Complimenti
Spero di non aver sbagliato
Grazie!
idea... maybe doing one on adjusting the chain? :) nice video. I will leave it to the dealer while it is in warranty. but by next year I hope to do my own too.
It's super easy, you might want to start studying. In the description I have the link to the Africa Twin maintenance manual which is like a maintenance Bible, there's everything there. Good idea about the chain.
Be aware Haynes manuals often differ in specs and volumes from OEM. I would recommend a cleaning all around the filter and two drain plugs with carb cleaner and rag stuff like mud will certainly be above that filter. Always torque filter and drain bolts.
Thanks for the advice
What's the oil used here? Can't focus much
The oil level is measured without screwing in the dipstick.
Nice, look muy facil
Thanks. It is. Next time I change the oil I will do a timed event to break my record.
Thanks sir for the vedio
Nice work
By the way I have same bike same color , I want to ask you , could you please share me the link of panniers base , from where you get it , Thanks 😊
Hi. Thank you very much for watching. I have a video about the panniers with the link in the description

Great video. Thanks! Does the oil level read higher on the dipstick when it's on the side stand?
Thank you so much, hope it helped. Yes it does. I bought my paddock stand at Harbor Freight for $24 after a 20% discount coupon. It's pretty strong, I'd keep an eye on it, but it's very stable. About the dipstick, in the video I screw it all the way in to check how close I was getting to full, I should've mentioned that, according to the Owner's Manual you're not supposed to screw it in. Thanks for your support. I'm working on the next video.
I guess I'm pretty randomly asking but does anybody know of a good site to stream new movies online ?
@Dominic Thiago Flixportal xD
@Avery Randy thanks, I signed up and it seems to work :) Appreciate it !
@Dominic Thiago no problem xD
el nivel de aceite se mira SIN roscar la varilla creo yo - the oil level is seen WITHOUT screwing the dipstick I think-sorry google translate
Yes, I wrote it up already
Is this the same procedure for the DCT bike?
very similar, I recommend checking the manual I show in the video
Do not screw the oelstick when you Check the oll level
Nice greetings from austria
Thank you. I have a friend from Vienna visiting tomorrow 😊
@@ridewyoming oh thats nice i am from tirol
No offense my AT friend, but at the beginning I thought you were talking about chip oil! Definitely not a good idea. If you're not used to 'feeling' the tightness a torque wrench is a good idea, it's too easy to overtighten. Hand tightening the oil filter is sufficient, and the dipstick shouldn't be screwed in for level check - you're underfilling. Safe riding 🇬🇧
No offense taken, thanks
How does the torque wrench tells you it is tight enough?
@@ridewyoming probabilmente hai frainteso.
You check the oil level by pulled up rear whell. Read manual how to check it correctly. Its wrong.
I thought you checked the oil without screwing it back in? But good vid
Have fun removing the filter next time. You're supposed to tighten that by hand 🤦
Thanks for the kind remark
You are supposed to tighten that with a torque wrech to 26Nm if I'm right. This one was overtorqued.
