Oh, the nostalgia of the show's theme and credits from the past 40 years.
Come and See (1985)’s Flyora turns 40 on July 9th and I’ve decided to throw off a surprise 40th birthday party for Flyora as such a loving wife would do that. I’ve already done a photo of me and Flyora on our recent wedding day for his 40th birthday in July and it will go absolutely viral.
Happy early 40th birthday, Come and See
1994 theme tune 🎵 was the legend
Glad they acknowledged the Olympic park added to the 2009 titles in 2012. Not everyone has noticed that.
In case you were wondering, the ill-fated 1993-1994 'EastEnders' theme which everyone hated and why it was quickly changed back is called "I Always Believe In You".
I've just watched the music video. I actually think the 1993-94 jazz theme works better with lyrics.
@@AndrewChapman 'spose it does but the theme should've never have been messed with. Simon May purposely put the "Bow Bells" in the original theme and the emphasis on the "dooff-dooff" made it really stand out.
My claim to fame is 'EastEnders'. I was born the 11th February 1985 with 'EastEnders' obviously starting on the 18th. I was proud to admit that once lol. Now, with just how sensationalist it is and how morbid it is with them blowing up 'The Vic(AGAIN) 3rd times a charm aye? Grant torches it in 1992. Phil torches it in 2012 and here we are again.
When I watch Eastenders I never skip the intro and outro feel like it’s also part of the ep so I never skip them x
Neither do I. Plus we're acknowledging the production crew too by watching the credits.
@shifashahine2005
Only watched Eastenders recently because Lola had cancer 2 years ago and I’m playing Julia’s theme in tribute to my friends horse who died 2 years ago tomorrow. It will a very tough day as I was in hospital battling an illness when I found out that the horse died. Now Flyora has to watch me drink heavy tonight but he and Woody.EXE will be at my side all day tomorrow. So glad I married Flyora (Come and See) and I’ve got a necklace with the horses ashes inside it
@@nicolelawless9942i read about that storyline
What's ironic is watching the odl credits roll and seeing some names of cast members still in it from the very beginning and cast members who played a big part of Eastenders and sadly no longer with us.
I'm looking forward to the live 40th anniversary episode
Why is that ironic?
@@alexneill8338Mmmmm well if you had been watching it from the first episode you would remember a lot of the characters
I grew up watching EastEnders from the very first episode and still watch it now.
@@stumpysteven73 that’s cool.
But you’ve completely misunderstood what the word “ironic” means 😂
@@alexneill8338It can mean a number of things actually.
Ok for your benefit then.
It's strange watching old clips of end credits with lots of old names from the past.
@@alexneill8338Definition of ironic, “Ironic means something is odd or humorous because it has a different result from what is expected. It can also mean using words to convey a meaning that is the opposite of its literal meaning.”
music to my ears
❤🎉 I have watched EastEnders since the beginning. My how 40 years has flown by. I have loved all the themes. That is it's Legacy. 😂 Watching from across the pond in Biloxi Mississippi 👋🧔
Guess we’re getting a new opening on the 40th anniversary?
Let's hope
What about the Ocarina Whistle and Doof-Dooff
@@peter0010 Agreed, as great as the current titles are, they are starting to feel a bit tired now after 15 years.
As long as they leave the actual theme alone!
@@AndrewChapman yeah it's about time. It's been going since 2009, with the only notable tweak being the addition of the Olympic park.
@ 6:34 the caption says "2015 - 25th Anniversary" - the 25th anniversary of EastEnders was in 2010, the 30th anniversary was in 2015 - which of course gave us the never forgotten "How's Adam?" blooper from the live episode.
Yes I remember Jo Joyner accidentally saying that. If only Laurie Brett had quickly improvised there and responded with something like "Oh yeah, that's right. I told you about my cousin, Adam, didn't I? Yeah, he's doing great."
One for the VT Christmas Blooper tape… when EastEnders gets the wrong year/anniversary at 8:32 (25th was in 2010, 30th was in 2015)
The first one where we could read the credits, unlike today where they zoom past so quick you can’t read them and they make me feel sick trying.
Soooooo iconic ❤
Very iconic
1999 one is the one I’m more familiar with. Hasn’t really changed much since then.
I Hope EastEnders Get A Gold and Silver Opening credits for the 40th Anniversary 🎉🎉❤❤🎉🎉❤❤🎉🎉❤❤🎉🎉❤❤
It will get a Ruby opening I’m sure
Bring back Jazzy on April 1st - just for once! ❤❤😂
@@side_six no way
Ya'll also forgot the 1991 theme
Both the 1991 themes! There were two that started in 1991.
Someone can’t add up. It says “2015 - 25th Anniversary” it should say “2010 - 25th Anniversary”
As an Australian who doesn't know the show that much, I was confused when that said 25th anniversary, only for 2020 to be the 35th and I was like, what?
Yes, 2015 would have been its 30th.
They should bring back the late 1990s - early 2000s theme
My favourite anime opening compilation.
Glad they didn't skip the 93-94 jazz version as most people hated that one. I don't mind it personally.
I didnt hate it. It’s a nice version. It just didn’t fit the programme. The original is far more suited.
@@derekhorne8076 Yes I agree the original is more suited. I still like listening to the jazz version as a track though.
I think the jazz theme is my favourite
@@AndrewChapman Oh definitely. Its nice as a version - just not for the tv, unless it was used as some sort of incidental music
@@supersoline2832 It was terrible and didn’t fit with the show.
I remember when our Dog literally howelled at the Screen lol. Then they changed the theme music to stop that and now dogs walk away 😅
Ours still barks at it everytime it's on 😅
@@jpollitt1996😅
2010 was the 25th anniversary of EastEnders. 2015 was the 30th Anniversary
New one soon?!?!?!?!
Nostagic trip there 😂 are we getting a new opening this year?🤔
I do hope so the current titles are 16 years old in September, there looking rather tired now.
The one real big thing one can see from the map is how much the east end has changed!
1994 is THE EastEnders theme. Perfect. By far the best.
Nah. The 1985-93 one beats all the rest. It even has a sitar playing to represent the South Asian communities living in the East End.
No it was crap and everyone hated it, that was why it Simon May changed it back but remixed it slightly.
Oh I remember the jazzy version of the theme tune. I bloody hated it. Glad they reverted to the original one but with the 'duff duffs' added to the start.
2012-2024?! new titles soon!? 👀👀👀👀
Not so keen on the 93-94 one 😅
The 93 theme is very similar to US TV themes of the era
How is it possible that the early 90s one is more 80s than the 80s one?
2015 would have been the 30th Anniversary
I would love the title Video to change like all outher soaps like swoop in and pann across the street/vilege would be great for EE to do like a swoop in montage
nah because then it starts looking like Abysmlation Street
Great to see them all. The original is still the best!
I was glad when they reinstated the original theme but I wish they would take the doof doofs off the opening titles. They don’t belong there!
One other gripe - I wish the credits went at a speed yiu could actually read them (that goes for all programmes and all broadcasters!)
I think they missed a variant of the 25th anniversary titles where fans were singing along to the theme.
@Lath-p8z They probably didn't include that as they only did it for the end credits.
@Lath-p8z Oh! I don't remember that one!
The old style one up to 93 is excellent 👌 unfortunately they went down the route of quickening it up and shortening it thinking nobody had any attention span anymore. It's a mistake many soaps have made and no longer sets a mood, just 'get it out of the way'
Wow, how the graphics and details improved over the years. What are the black cloudy smudges in the early years? Trees/green area?
Cloud, but looks like it's been added to the photography in post production using celluloid film.
Thanks
I always thought it was smoke coming from the various chimneys at the time of the picture taking, am I correct in thinking the pictures were taking in stages and stiched together afterwards?
@jayrobinson7554 Yeah it was taken in 1984, not 1884 🤣
@@Kurt-f2x😂😂 yea true I suppose lol.
Soundalikes: Touhou Dance - Bad Apple Remix vs Britney Spears - Criminals vs Mario and Luigi Bowser's Inside Story - Deep Castle
New theme for the 40th?
Here's hoping🤞
Maybe….. 🤔
@@AndrewChapman you mean here's hoping not.
@@Lianne-i6f Hi
Roxy is a character who played by a Friend of Baroness Brady and Claude Littner and she is Baroness Brady's Friend
What were they thinking of with the 93-94 one?
Baby making
Yeah, everyone hated that one. I like sophistipop but, it didn’t fit with a show like this. There was even a lyrical version of it called “ I’ll always believe in you “. Terrible, you never tamper with a classic, it can be remixed but that was the worst rendition, I bet even Simon May hates it. I don’t even know why they even asked him to do that.
@ I'm 17 but way prefer the Jazz theme. But yeah, it doesn't fit the show. I think it was an attempt to modernise the song into the early nineties but by 1994, that sound was already becoming stale. They should have done it earlier around 1992 imo.
Shame about this edit. Surely they have access to the clean masters, rather than chopping them from episodes and cutting off the Duff Duffs.
Also, this vid is title & credit sequences, not theme tunes.
2:56 Amanda Holden?
25th was 2010, not 2015
Yeah
Probably got mixed up with the 30th in 2015.
What about the jubilee version? 🤔
Missing the 20th credits with fans in the credits, the 1989 verison (same as the original but in stereo), and the flooded verison of the titles.
Also, the 30th anniversary flashback episode had exactly the same titles as the 35th anniversary episodes
I quite liked the 1993-94 version once I'd got used to it. It was a bit of a shock when it debuted, though. I think the newer versions have lost a little _something_ without the cow bells but possibly gain with the more pronounced whistle at the end.
Nah, much as I like sophistipop, it didn’t fit with a show like Eastenders.
@jane1975 It was a bit like elevator music, to be fair
@ 🤣
Now do a Julia’s theme edition.
Ya'll gotta update it on the 40th anniversary
Jazz one is the best 🔥
@@Mr.Belding no way.
Eastenders is a very good show !! Its my favourite soap and the only soap I watch now it is 100% better then boring Emmerdale cringy coronation street and Hollyoaks aka The Frankie osbourne and Peri lomax show I used to watch Hollyoaks aswell until it went down hill and I only watched Emmerdale once when Meena was on there I never seen an episode of Coronation street in my life Keep up the good work EE and I am so excited for the 40th anniversary episode this month as it looks exciting !! ☺☺☺❤❤🫶🏻🫶🏻
New theme and titles coming up for the big 4 0?????
There were 2 versions of the theme before the 1993 jazzy theme. You guys missed one out.
There were 3. They missed 2.
2015 should be 30th whlist 2020 is 35th anniversary also I'm sure for 25th anniversary in 2010 you got people singing the tunes yet not mentioned here...
Why 2012-2024, unless there's a new opening coming this year?!?!
Maybe so and that's why they've posted this video , as a wrap over the past 40 years
And it sounds more like a major version of Bad Apple Remix from Touhou Dance
Because they changed the BBC Logo in the opening and ending credits
I bet it will be awful as most modern things are awful
Technically it is accurate but only for the sake of being pedantic. The BBC finally updated the titles in October to include the new BBC logo which has been in use since October 2021 but has only slowly trickled down into all the BBC's programmes, but that was the only change. The current titles have aired relatively unchanged since their debut in September 2009, apart from an update on New Year's Day 2012 to include the new Olympic Park visible in the top left-hand corner of the map and an update to HD when the show first aired in High Definition on Christmas Day 2010.
Im not really an Eastenders fan,Same story over and over again,Fights,Kick ofs,Arguments,Cheating,It goes on all the time like never ending story,I gave up watching Easters 10 years later,Let alone 40 years later
@@dalebenton3354 what are you watching it for then?
Been the same song over the years,Not really nothing much different,Also had a hit out back in the 1980's called Anita Dobson Anyone Can Fall In Love th-cam.com/video/7uYvHVsPilI/w-d-xo.html
That 93-94 version tho. I don’t remember it at all. It’s smarmy. 🤢 Reminds me of Shortland Street (not that I ever watched it).
I liked the Shortland Street theme, this was trying to sound like some American show. There was also a lyrical version as well of this too called “ Always Believe in You “ Simon May’s Jazzy Version for Howard’s Way fit with the programme but this didn’t. You just don’t tamper with a classic.
Not much has changed apart from getting rid of that awful jazz version we had to put up with for a year or two.
Eastenders has lost its authenticity with the new set. Yes they’ve made it look similar and old but all that history has now been erased. Should’ve kept it.
Totally agree, the pedestrianisation of Turpin road and the new McKlunkys is just stupid🤦🏼♂️
@ I personally lost interest in Eastenders around 2015 as the characters and storylines just started getting too boring. For me Eastenders was at its best around 1999-2010
@@underneonloneliness2 Perfectly put, the 2000’s were so realistic but evidently lost its touch after pushing the boat out too many times with stunts, storylines, deaths etc around 2010-2015
@@underneonloneliness2It was the best from 1985 to about 5 years ago.
They started building the original set in 1983, there are pictures online of it being constructed. They are only plywood fronts you know that includes the houses chimneys as well. Apart from the fact that the original set was probably starting to fall apart due to age and it having to withstand our countries weather it had to be updated for todays televisions. In 1985 people were watching the show on 625 line tv’s now it’s 4K and Widescreen. So there were valid reasons to rebuild it.
The 80s had a total of 3 different themes, two of which are sadly missing.
I’m curious to which you are referring in the 80’s?
